:flamed: why cant nissans be aloud to race with the holdens and the fords? Is it because they are to fast or they are to scared bloody scared :flamed:

the way i see it ... holden and fords are closely matched so its good... u get a close race ... put in a gtr and then its different ... cause its a totally diff car ... u get restrictions on boost etc etc ... then u get people arguing that this or that is better or worse ... why bother ... let the bogans have their v8's ... we all know that the jap equivalent is better :cheers:

Nissan, Mitsubishi, Toyota even Hyundai could enter.

They just need to come up with a few million for a team and field a 5.0 litre V8 live axled RWD sedan. They'd probably come last though because when it comes to dinosaur taxi cab racing, no-one can beat Ford and Holden.

I love how people fly the Nissan flag so proudly despite having been spanked for a good many years by Commodores amongst others.

I love the Nissans, have from the Farmer Fury days, but the old VL Walkinshaw even beat our crowning jewel, the R32 GTR in 1990, but i have always respected Commoders for their ability to make do with so little.

And ppl say Holden/Ford changed the Group A rules so that Ford and Holden could win, this is wrong, the international scene scrapped the category which meant everyone had to come up with an alternative. Considering all the new classes created for 1993 around the world, not many have survived through to today, ours is still going strong.

The GTR was the ultimate Group A car, but cars like the Commodore/Sierra were cars with homologated parts for racing, the GTR was a homologated car!

Did everyone hear the Nissan won the GT500 class with the GTR, GT300 with the 350Z, and the GTR also won the final round of the Japanese GT Championship. (please dont compare these cars to our tourers for speed, the class allows for a lot more engineering input)

Group A was scrapped because it's mega bucks to run a car in the catagory. Early 90's (recession) plus expensive cars to race = bye bye.

nothing in the Fords and Holdens are from the production cars. As said before, purpose built 5.0 V8's. The funny thing is, is that the Holden is running a Ford wishbone suspension :D what a surprise, Holden taking someone else's parts.

Do the JGTC cars run the factory engines? like RB26DETT, or VQ35DE, Supra Twin turbo engine etc?? I know in racing form they are far from factory, but do they at least have to start with the factory engine?

Ford vs Holden = hella boring.

Would it be legal for say a R34 GTR VSpec II Nur to run in the Bathurst 24hr?? The monaro's (and did anyone notice how that from last year on the leaderboard thingy it was listed as Holden Monaro 427 HRT, and now this year it's Monaro CV8, come on guys, u'r not fooling anyone...) had 600hp apparently, it would be fairly easy to get a R34 GTR cranking out that much if someone had the budget to do it, it would be lighter than the Monaro as well. I reckon it would have a real chance if someone had the money to run one. But i don't even know if it can be entered in the first place.

The rules/regulations of the races stop Nissan from entering races that are dominated by Ford and Holden

Yep, GTRs are eligible for Nations Cup entry, in fact there was a light green one going around a few years ago. There are of course be regs stopping them from putting out 600hp tho.

Silver-Arrowz, yep, I'll be racing the GTR combined touring next year. Prolly not finished until mid year :D Stay tuned for the B24hr debut, probably not until 2005.

Holden and Ford were the only manufacturers to continue to support Australian motorsport and good on them!

Nissan was competitive for a good many years but think back to the Bluebird, Dr30, Hr31 days, Nissan wasnt exactly kicking a55, hence the effort going into the GTR as they were sick of getting beat.

It would be interesting to see an R34 take on the Monaro, i think the Monaro would still be too reliable and quick for a production based R34, more a regulations thing then anything else.

And there arent too many classes of top level motorsport that share much with their road going counterparts, other tin top series are far removed form road cars, rally cars, JGTCC etc. The Jap GTRs dont even run RB26s!

I love all forms of motorsport, i think the poor old V8s dont deserve the bashing they get, much of what is said about local touring cars can be said for most other series (Not production racing...which even these days aint very production)

That said, go the R32 GTRs, good to see them running around Aus racetracks again in Combined Touring!

For cars complying with the current technical regulations for; Australian Nations Cup – Group 1, FIA Series Grand Touring Cars (N-GT), British GTO, All Japan GT - Group 2, American Grand – Am (GT), Lamborghini Trophy.

I'd seriously take the JGTC spec GTR over a R34 GTR Nur.

At the end of the day, most of these cars are nowhere near their road going counter parts. It's all about marketing of a brand. Seiously how many road going GTR's are compareable to the Grp A. GTR's run by Fred Gibson back in the early 90's?

yes true..........while australian motorsport remains a massive product placement adventure. i said this in the sports board. bathurst etc is now only an advert. it's not a sport at all.

If I am correct, the Bathurst 24hr is for production cars, therefore HRT427(the 600hp monaro) would have had 49 replicas sitting in a warehouse somewhere ready for sale(50 being the magic number to qualify as a production run) hence being able to compete in the production class. In order to have a Skyline compete(with 600 hp) against HRT427 in this years race, someone would have to build fifty 600hp Skylines.........I think they also have to be current production, therefore r34's dont qualify.

Feel free to prove me wrong, this is just the way i see it

    • This sounds very old of me, however since buying the Tiguan shit box, my view on shit boxes have changed.
    • I've looked up the parts number (41011AL501). It's around $700 OEM. Usually our Infiniti G35 here in Canada have interchangeable parts with my Stagea but the parts number are not the same. I have looked around and it seems the JDM 2005 V35 Skyline (which is the same as our G35) has the same caliper but I cannot confirm. And I can't find a repair kit. The inner brake pads drags on the rotor, seems to be rusty piston. Thanks for the info by the way
    • This coupled with 6-9 speed autos with ridiculously short gearing is why these modern shitbox cars always seem so fast off the line. If it wasn't for those things, Raptors would not seem fast. The problem we have is there is a driveability gap between a more gentle take off and a wheelspinning sideways launch. The difference between ankle flex required to achieve one and ankle flex required to achieve the other is about 0.5°.
    • Yeah I think I'm also with the opposite here. It's 'hard to keep up with traffic' because in the real world I'm accelerating with 15% throttle and they are pinning it. It feels like I'm being an overt dickhead at anything above 15% throttle, so the car sounds like I'm being an overt dickhead to keep up with/get ahead of traffic when I'm really just trying to drive with traffic. There would be no issue 'keeping up with traffic' if we used the same level of throttle input/aggression to drive around. People really do just drive around with their foot nearly pinned in econoboxes.
    • To be fair it's the other way around. 300kw is boring in a modern Golf or BMW. They are so competent / well-engineered / devoid of emotion that you have to go stupid fast to feel anything. Whereas the <300kw RB still makes all the right noises and it feels good to drive. Can pull off at the lights with the turbo whooshing and the blow-off pssshing and feel like the coolest kid on the block. Just don't look to the side where you'll see the bored housewifes in their shitbox Yaris/Corolla/Camry that kept up because you didn't go fast at all
