My dad borrowed my car to go to work last week (his was at the mechanic), unfortunately another road user couldn't tell the difference between red and green. On the plus side my dad walked away with only minor injuries.

I'm thinking about getting a Toyota Chaser to replace it depending on insurance costs. Does anyone here have comprehensive insurance on a JZX100?

Lucky there wasnt a passenger... I was hit in a similar situation, we were going under the speed limit so it hit just infront of the A pillar, lucky for the passenger.

Not going to be loyal to the RB and get a Stagea?

Makes me think of earlier today.

I was sitting a an intersection on a red light behind another car, with my mate driving behind me.

The light went green and the car infront of me was a bit slow to take off, and as he started to get going a Semi went flying through the intersection!

Just makes me think, I could have just witnessed someone being killed; or had that car not been there, my best mate probably would have watched me get cleaned up by a truck.

Holy sh*t, glad at least his ok.

I almost got hit on the side 2day as well, due to some stupid idiot in a POS doesn't seem to know that you suppose to stop & check for incoming traffic & give way to them when approaching a T-junction.

holy shit thats crazy. Poor R33 :P

I had a similar story, waiting at intersection to cross 80km/h road. Was at front, lights went green but was keeping eye on traffic on the intersection. Could see one car still going 80km/h and didnt look like was going to slow down.

Car behind me started beeping at me to move off but I still stayed at the green light. Next thing the stupid lady realises its red for her, jumps on the brakes and skids through the intersection stopping infront of my car.

If i went when it was green or when the idiot was beeping at me, I would have been cleaned up (drivers door too at 80km/h)

Lets just say the car who was behind me beeping at me avoided coming next to me at any other lights haha

Chandler and Cheltenham Road, always one hero flying through the red light heading towards dandenong, i've nearly been hit twice, miss's nearly once.

one that nearly hit my miss's i saw the dumb ass drive applying eye liner!

glad to hear all is ok!

fck! thats lucky as hell man!

did you get out and tell the guy behind u "i told u so u fcker!!!"

It's already been said, but faaaark. I'm really happy your Dad's alright, obviously could have been much worse. Poor R33 :3some:

The other driver... What an idiot, I wish people would pay attention on the roads.

That's a nasty hit.

Good thing you dad walked away OK.

As a habit a always look both ways when the light turns green especially on high speed intersections (70km/h+). It has saved me on a few occassions.

damn that's lucky...

same thing happened to me a few years ago, i slowed down for a few seconds to change a cd and when i looked up a gold falcon flew through a red @ 80+ missing my car by about 1 metre....

now i slow down and check even at green lights

glad to hear your dad is ok!

    • I don't understand how this hasn't boiled down to - Upgrade the turbo when you have everything required. ECU, injectors, fuel pump, turbo, etc. Do it all at once.  If you don't have everything required, just enjoy the car as it is and keep saving up your pennies.
    • Sounds like you've got an interesting adventure ahead here with local support if you have trouble! My guess is that, unboosted, you will be OK with a small upgrade like -9. What will happen is that once the stock ECU sees more airflow than it expects it will add a heap of fuel and pull a heap of timing to be safe because it can't understand how it could get that much air without there being an issue. You will see clouds of black smoke and it won't pull hard through the midrange and top end. So, overall it will be a bit frustrating but should be OK. If you are still nervous set the base timing back 2o through the CAS, but it will be even more sluggish everywhere. As said above through...this is not my guarantee your engine won't be blown into a million pieces, leaving you looking for very hard to find parts A better idea is get a computer with logging ASAP, wire in a wide band O2 sensor and a use remote tuner. I've done multiple cars this way and while it is not as good as a specific tune on a dyno they can get it 90% right. I'd suggest if you can afford an R33 GTR these days you can afford an ECU and tune. And if you can't afford that you sure won't be able to afford the rebuild if it goes bad in the meantime,.
    • Yeah it would be nice if someone took the time to put that sort of information together, but there are a lot of variations in looms. I think you are making this way hard for yourself if you just want to get it running....sourcing an SR20 with the right wiring will be a billion times easier than matching the RB loom to an S15 chassis. If you do end up going this way, you just need to trace every wire in the loom with a multimeter, 95% of them will go to a location you can confirm at the ECU.....and then post it up for the next person who needs it
    • Just top it up with water, and keep a general idea of how much you added. It is normal for water to be pushed into and pulled out of the reservoir through the cap, and it should not be more than half full or it will be likely to overflow when hot. Any decent mechanic can do a pressure test of the cooling system to confirm if you have a leak. Keep in mind if it is only leaking a little and when hot it may well evaporate before you see it hit the ground
    • I'd ask the shop what they used and use that. Mixing coolants is sometimes OK, sometimes not, and you have know the details of each coolant to know whether it's a good idea or not.
