Hey all,

I got the M35 on Tuesday afternoon and have already put almost 300klms on it :D

I have a quick question, does the xanavi version of the navigation system have the economy leaf and so on? I can not seem to find it if it does. I had a look at the guys M35 around the corner (autech axis) and this has the normal Nissan program with the economy leaf.

Thanks in advance.

Cameron

all nav units are xanavi units?

im pretty sure

it's the 3rd button

then toggle with the stick

do you mean the 3rd button from left to right? and on the top or bottom?

thanks, ill give this a try :D

Hey guys, I tried the above advice but the third button did not do anything, it does not make a noise or anything. Also, from the photos I have seen of other peoples screens, mine is very different, it does not say nissan on it but has 'birdview' with all blue backgrounds and so on. There is only 1 screen that is the 4th button accross from the left on the top with any kind of info on it and it has only got a very basic compass and the rest of the info is these little graphs and so on.

Ooops, my error :)

When I jumped in the car last night, I noticed that it IS the 4th button across that you will need to hit.

The leaf is then the top right option.

Sorry about that Cam.

That leaf is pointless!! haha economy and m35.. does not go together

I guess you just have the wrong mods then! My fuel economy is through the roof on a standard tune.

Travelled 136kms last night... mostly freeway (ahem, tollway), but with some main road and residential in there too. Averaged 94kph according to the trip computer and 13.9km/L.

Which works out at 7.2L/100kms. :):):)

Will be putting up a post, with pics regarding this mod very soon.

Cam, you ought to put and exhaust gas temperature probe in your exhaust to make sure you do not lean out tooooo much.

I am looking forward to seeing the details of your mod.

I will soon enough (I hope).

It is only when cruising that the economy is fantastic. When the engine is under load (accelerating) it actually uses more fuel than normal.

Think of it like a 1.5x (example) modifier... 1.5x fuel use when accelerating. 1.5x less fuel used when cruising.

Oh, and the throttle is a fair it more sensitive as well.

...the room goes quiet while we all wait with baited breath to hear about this new mod...

7.2L/100km. Thats DAMN good for any car!!

you serious?!

I realise you have a larger turbo and exhaust, both which will help...but even so, I had both of these (+tuning) on my previous stagea and even then it couldn't crack the 10L/100km mark on the highway.

Best I've seen from the M35 is 9.5L/100km and that was 100% highway, no A/C, constant 100km/h in 5th gear.

Very serious... actually scale that down to "quite serious". I don't like getting "very serious".

I don't have a dump done yet, so I don't know if that will aid or diminish economy.

Didn't have the A/C on, but I did have the climate control on if that makes any difference. (18 in cabin, 13 outside)

far out thats good, i can get 7.5L from the fiat on a bad run tho :(

Fanboy.

Maybe you should give your wife the Stag and just get around in your little Fiat :bunny:

i was getting 700 out of a tank to and from the snow..

so it doesnt sound like its going to help me all that much, whats needed is less fuel everywhere else on the map..

400-500km around town, i do drive rather quickly tho. tho its yet to bother me really

    • This looks great! Awesome to have the 5 speed with an LSD in this. The Recaro's look like SR2's or SR3's. It's a shame they've been retrimmed as they would have looked sweet in their original colours. I think I'd want my agent to be a little more up front and informative too. I've never imported but I reckon it would make me a little nervous, so the more info the better.
    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
