How come over seas they get awesome cars as police cars, and we are left with lancers, commos, falcons, wrx's, lotus....

Germany has this Brabas CLS Rocket on their side, how the hell can you out run this, 0-201km/hr in 10.3 seconds wtf lol, throw on some slicks on the rears and see what time it gets stock lol

I guess we don't piss away our tax payers money as much as the Euros? HWP get to drive F6's and SS's... hardly anything to complain about.

lol nah the supercars are usually donated

Im pretty sure an 800hp gtr could outrun it

The aussie police cars are nothing to sneeze at , V8 commys arent exactly slow..

As well as that germany also have autobahns, there is no reason for police here to even have the overpowered cars they do..

Make em all drive corollas i say, ..,they are quick enuf and more friendly to the environment as well...And we would be paying less taxmoney to fuel the suckers..

Give me one reason why our police need these huge cars...

same goes for taxis...

Falcadores are built in Australia, so it would seem logical that the Government would want to purchase locally made cars to support local manufacturing.

As for the taxis, things are changing. I've seen several hybrids being used as taxis around Melbourne.

yeah thats a fair point, taxis should be cars that use less fuel.... hybrids are a rought though, a 1.6 litre VW golf produces less C02 emissions than a toyota prius, and the golf takes off much faster.... then the diesel version produces even less C02 and its still faster than a prius lol.

And ofcorse a 800hp GTR should out run the CLS.... seeing as the cls has 730hp, but then again it does produce 1100nm of torque and has a 7 speed electronic gear box and it is crowned the Fastest sedan car ever made..... i'd love to see that showdown on Munichs autobahns.

And another point, why don't we have autobahns, Australia is one of the biggest countries with the most sparse population and it has the least amount of people living in it per square kilometer, we are the driest continent in the world (excluding antarctica), and we are the flattest continent with an average elevation of only 16 meters above sea level..... brings me back to a new point of WHY DON'T WE HAVE AUTOBAHNS???? If the Germans can learn to keep the inside lane free for overtaking only, i'm pretty sure we could learn...

Then their would be a point to having nearly all of NSW race tracks closing down lol

also the highway patroll v8's are loaded up with so much heavy equipment that they really arnt all that quick compared to the standard version of the ss and xr8's

There's your answer.

There's your answer.

fair enough i change my topic.... Why doesn't the Australian East Coast have Autobahns then....

Linking, Brizzy, Syd, Melb and maybe Adelaide and most places inbetween? Re-educate the drongos to keep left unless overtaking, while doing this people don't have to take the dangerous roads that seem to have bends in it for no reason and people tend to die on the preexisting intercity linking roads that are grossly too small to handle the traffic flows and they have useless bends and corners in them....

SHould we go into the next election with that campaign??? lol

Because you can't carry two police, and all the gear in a small car. The higher performance cars are needed so they can catch up to vehicles. If you approach a car in a 100 zone that is doing 140 and then have to slow, wait for a gap, turn and then chase that car, you dont want to be doing it in a Corolla.

Funny ^^^ no dispute about all the gear nowadays...

...but I remember in the late '60s when 2 types of Police cars were roaming the streets of Sydney at both extremes in size.

1) Mini Cooper S with 2 cops in it. The comic artists used to have a field day back then.

You do know the toyota plant is in Laverton, im not certain they make corollas but i know the make camrys there

And yeah ive seen those hybrids too, apparently they are getting good milage too a few have over half a miilion kms and havent had any problems

f**k yeah!!!

Whats even worse is that the hume hwy is better quality road than what the germanians are doin twice the speed on

I think a big part of what may be stopping them is these critters called Kangaroos, have u seen the pics of the Z4 that hit a roo at 220kmph.. plus cause we are so vast if someone has a major accident out in woop woop..they will be long dead b4 anyone finds them..

also the highway patroll v8's are loaded up with so much heavy equipment that they really arnt all that quick compared to the standard version of the ss and xr8's

They are also loaded up with better engine packages i believe..They are not loaded with any more equipment than your average doof doof mobile anyway

has Sydney got Hummer police cars yet, Ive seen them in melb

victoriapolicehummerh3thumbnail.jpg

Apparently they are to combat weekend violence, guns, batons, mase, tazers, and the backup of a small army arent enough to tackle a few drunken yobs anymore, apparently they have to run them over as well now.

No doubt there is heaps, but what difference is a hummer supposed to make?

Is it just meant to look scary?

Or were they donated by hummer as a publicity stunt?

I dunno, i think its all out of control, police should be upholding the peace, not enforcing the law...

But if everybody else is driving around in v8s and hummer then they may as well to...

    • The time is always correct. Only the date is wrong. It currently thinks it is January 19. Tomorrow it will say it is January 20. The date and time are ( should be ! ) retrieved from the GPS navigation system.
    • Buy yourself a set of easy outs. See if they will get a good bite in and unthread it.   Very very lucky the whole sender didn't let go while on the track and cost you a motor!
    • Well GTSBoy, prepare yourself further. I did a track day with 1/2 a day prep on Friday, inpromptu. The good news is that I got home, and didn't drive the car into a wall. Everything seemed mostly okay. The car was even a little faster than it was last time. I also got to get some good datalog data too. I also noticed a tiny bit of knock which was (luckily?) recorded. All I know is the knock sensors got recalibrated.... and are notorious for false knock. So I don't know if they are too sensitive, not sensitive enough... or some other third option. But I reduced timing anyway. It wasn't every pull through the session either. Think along the lines of -1 degree of timing for say, three instances while at the top of 4th in a 20 minute all-hot-lap session. Unfortunately at the end of session 2... I noticed a little oil. I borrowed some jack stands and a jack and took a look under there, but as is often the case, messing around with it kinda half cleaned it up, it was not conclusive where it was coming from. I decided to give it another go and see how it was. The amount of oil was maybe one/two small drops. I did another 20 minute session and car went well, and I was just starting to get into it and not be terrified of driving on track. I pulled over and checked in the pits and saw this: This is where I called it, packed up and went home as I live ~20 min from the track with a VERY VERY CLOSE EYE on Oil Pressure on the way home. The volume wasn't much but you never know. I checked it today when I had my own space/tools/time to find out what was going on, wanted to clean it up, run the car and see if any of the fittings from around the oil filter were causing it. I have like.. 5 fittings there, so I suspected one was (hopefully?) the culprit. It became immediately apparent as soon as I looked around more closely. 795d266d-a034-4b8c-89c9-d83860f5d00a.mp4       This is the R34 GTT oil sender connected via an adapter to an oil cooler block I have installed which runs AN lines to my cooler (and back). There's also an oil temp sensor on top.  Just after that video, I attempted to unthread the sensor to see if it's loose/worn and it disintegrated in my hand. So yes. I am glad I noticed that oil because it would appear that complete and utter catastrophic engine failure was about 1 second of engine runtime away. I did try to drill the fitting out, and only succeeded in drilling the middle hole much larger and now there's a... smooth hole in there with what looks like a damn sleeve still incredibly tight in there. Not really sure how to proceed from here. My options: 1) Find someone who can remove the stuck fitting, and use a steel adapter so it won't fatigue? (Female BSPT for the R34 sender to 1/8NPT male - HARD to find). IF it isn't possible to remove - Buy a new block ($320) and have someone tap a new 1/8NPT in the top of it ($????) and hope the steel adapter works better. 2) Buy a new block and give up on the OEM pressure sender for the dash entirely, and use the supplied 1/8 NPT for the oil temp sender. Having the oil pressure read 0 in the dash with the warning lamp will give me a lot of anxiety driving around. I do have the actual GM sensor/sender working, but it needs OBD2 as a gauge. If I'm datalogging I don't actually have a readout of what the gauge is currently displaying. 3) Other? Find a new location for the OEM sender? Though I don't know of anywhere that will work. I also don't know if a steel adapter is actually functionally smart here. It's clearly leveraged itself through vibration of the motor and snapped in half. This doesn't seem like a setup a smart person would replicate given the weight of the OEM sender. Still pretty happy being lucky for once and seeing this at the absolute last moment before bye bye motor in a big way, even if an adapter is apparently 6 weeks+ delivery and I have no way to free the current stuck/potentially destroyed threads in the current oil block.
    • Literally looks like direct port nitrous haha
