I love it! It's different and I've never seen it done on a car before this thread. Well done for being individual. I love the pic where she's in her hooded eskimo jacket with gloves on and the space heater keepin her warm, must have been a cold night in Misawa.

Can't wait to see th efinished product, keep it up! Oh and definitely do the wheels

Just out of curiosity... How is she intending to do the roof? :nyaanyaa:

*In mind all I can think of is like those lan parties where you duct tape her to the ceiling and then slowly drive the car underneath*

Seriously awesome work though =D

like this you mean?

lan-party-strapped.jpg

also nice work OP :(

haha that pic is so good how long does it take for the tape to let go

If duct tape is wrapped around something like a pole or support beam then it won't let go, provided there are enough strips of it to support the weight...it's only when you tape someone to a wall that it'll let go after some time.

Wow, omg I love this! It's amazing. Does she go over it once it's done in a clear coat or something, what about prep?

Gonna get the bf to give me one of his spare fenders to give this a try on, looks fun as!

that is pretty cool. don't like the lost birds bit though. the rest of it is good.

i'm assuming it is only done in nikko/permanent marker and not a paint pen?

I asked some Japanese guys if "Rosto Birdseh Racing" sounded like a good race car name and they approved. Haha. Oh well. Rosto Birdseh no GTR wa ichibanda!!!! See that sounds pretty good if you can imagine it coming through the intercom at the racetrack.

we parked the car inside so we could worry about finishing it, and the clear will go on afterwards. there were a few parts that were already cleared, but I might give them another go just for fun.

well here's today's update. Finished from the pillar all the way to the tail light above the first body line, and also removed the door so it could be inside with the heat while it's worked on.

That is one unique GT-R!

You going to do the interior as well or would it be too distracting while you're driving on racetrack?

Also how about doing the rocker covers in either silver or gold on top of black cover?

Cheers

Grant

haha, I'll be honest, I was like... what the hell is a rocker cover?? I had to look up the difference in terminology. valve covers.. ahhhh now I get it! I even wrote aluminium for you guys. :-) As far as under the hood, I don't know if I'll really draw the theme in, because it just gets so dirty in there. I'll clean it every so often, but I could only consider detailing the engine bay if I was building a trailer queen or something.

You're American?

Cos your terminology isn't what us Australians say.

Fair enough on not doing the 'rocker covers' / 'valve covers'

Cheers

Grant

    • Its a 2002 vr-x four VQ25DET, silver. Coil overs, lowered, polished alloys and sport exhaust. Bit of a project, was sitting in a shed for a while but runs and drives great.
    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
