This is such a typical comment.

Of course you don't buy a Skyline for your mentioned reasons, you buy one because they represent great performance/value, they are easy to mod, they look great and they are fast. Just because a skyline incorporates all these factors doesn't mean you have to drive like a cock knocker. THAT is the reason they are branded hoon cars, because of the immature f**ken toe rags that do this shit on the streets. THAT is what people are pissed off with.

yeh well mate my neighbours are pissed off cos my exhuast is loud.. and no i dont hoon in my own street you arent going to please everyone but honestly this forum is hypocritical you all (i would hope) drive modified imports and no matter how much denial you wish to inflict on yourselves have given ita squirt at some point or another dont give me all this "track" bs but really as soon as someone does a chirpie everyone is up in arms like a 84y.o grandpa on his porch after u do a burn out on his manicured lawn.. like really who cares this guy didnt fk the reputation and niether will the next guy its just part of it.. we are all to blame for every little traffic light grandprix or overzealous corner you have done thats why people hate them. so i guess everyone here is a cock knocker. what this is im not sure.. i know my cock knocks my knees but thats cos i gotta big wang

Was cruising in the rain along Footscray Road just now during lunch hour.

Saw this white R33 gtst with green P plates beating a red light through the junction. The lights were red even before he crossed the white line on the near side. Really disappointed with some of the younger skyline drivers.

An accident is just waiting to happen with that sort of driving attitude.

so what.. if i drive through a red light in my lexus does that tarnish the lexus brand? dont think so .. so why is it any different for a skyline.. some guys off here should work on aca soo sensationalist and awesome making a story out of nothing.

so what.. if i drive through a red light in my lexus does that tarnish the lexus brand? dont think so .. so why is it any different for a skyline..

Because it happens way more with people driving Skylines/imports than Lexus. Did you really need this explained to you?

so what.. if i drive through a red light in my lexus does that tarnish the lexus brand? dont think so ..

If it happened enough, then yeah it actually would tarnish the lexus brand...

im certain that ford/ holden / toyota's reputation isnt tarnished i am certain more of those cars run red lights and get speeding tickets

So you see dodgy/bogan looking commodores with P plates on and assume the driver is nice polite and courteous?

I really don't think so. Like it or not, attitudes do get welded to cars commonly doing stupid things/looking terrible/acting terrible.

yes they do.. skylines reputation has nothing to do with running red lights that is ridiculous i mean sure burn outs racing etc ill wear that but running red lights give me a break.. we gona start lynching skylines now ?

and plenty of commodore drivers are nice and polite and cant afford something better so dont generalise or else your as bad as the media who you complain about picking/victimising on skylines..

I had a great day Saturday I went for a drive to Geelong, car running like clockwork stereo full bore wind in my hair and sitting on 95km/h all the way there and back.

Down side, 5 cars put it on me for a drag, 1 Statesman, 1 XR 6, 1 Commadore and sadly 2 Skylines all in (full view) of traffic! boys boys boys, your letting the team down!!!

was it a dark blue stato with an advanced automotive workshop sticker on it? and the white non turbo xr6? were you in a black 33?

White Stato lowered, I was at the traffic lights just inside Geelong, he did a brake burnout then flew pass me... blue XR6 turbo right up my ass at Avalon I changed lanes and he flew pass me then lost interest ...Me silver GTR :)

Off topic much.....

alxr33 I like you, you're funny. You have some good points, I don't agree with them all, but at least you are not getting on the bandwagon.

Keep it up.

At the end of the day the kid was 18, skyline or not he would have done the same. Get over it.

lol i agree ^^^, seriously how many times to ppl flog their cars that are a part of SAU, a lot actually do it safely in controlled enviornment but still occationally do it on the roads :)

Everyone judges ppl on appears, time to man up and accept that a skyline does not equal gentleman or an grandma haha

there always is a bad apple in every bunch, deal with it!

    • Was going to say the car pulls up nicely everywhere, especially going into that last long right hander before the main straight. Looks like a lot of fun.
    • Hey Dave, welcome aboard! Good to see another soon-to-be Stagea owner here. The wagons are awesome — plenty of space, still got that Skyline DNA, and loads of potential if you’re into mods. Definitely post up pics when you get it, everyone here loves seeing new builds. What model/year are you looking at?
    • See if you can thermal epoxy a heatsink or two onto it?
    • The other problem was one of those "oh shit we are going to die moments". Basically the high spec Q50s have a full electric steering rack, and the povo ones had a regular hydraulic rack with an electric pump.  So couple of laps into session 5 as I came into turn 2 (big run off now, happily), the dash turned into a christmas tree and the steering became super heavy and I went well off. I assumed it was a tyre failure so limped to the pits, but everything was OK. But....the master warning light was still on so I checked the DTCs and saw – C13E6 “Heat Protection”. Yes, that bloody steering rack computer sitting where the oil cooler should be has its own sensors and error logic, and decided I was using the steering wheel too much. I really appreciated the helpful information in the manual (my bold) POSSIBLE CAUSE • Continuing the overloading steering (Sports driving in the circuit etc,) “DATA MONITOR” >> “C/M TEMPERATURE”. The rise of steering force motor internal temperature caused the protection function to operate. This is not a system malfunction. INSPECTION END So, basically the electric motor in the steering rack got to 150c, and it decided to shut down without warning for my safety. Didn't feel safe. Short term I'll see if I can duct some air to that motor (the engine bay is sealed pretty tight). Long term, depending on how often this happens, I'll look into swapping the povo spec electric/hydraulic rack in. While the rack should be fine the power supply to the pump will be a pain and might be best to deal with it when I add a PDM.
    • And finally, 2 problems I really need to sort.  Firstly as Matt said the auto trans is not happy as it gets hot - I couldn't log the temps but the gauge showed 90o. On the first day I took it out back in Feb, because the coolant was getting hot I never got to any auto trans issues; but on this day by late session 3 and then really clearly in 4 and 5 as it got hotter it just would not shift up. You can hear the issue really clearly at 12:55 and 16:20 on the vid. So the good news is, literally this week Ecutek finally released tuning for the jatco 7 speed. I'll have a chat to Racebox and see what they can do electrically to keep it cooler and to get the gears, if anything. That will likely take some R&D and can only really happen on track as it never gets even warm with road use. I've also picked up some eye wateringly expensive Redline D6 ATF to try, it had the highest viscosity I could find at 100o so we will see if that helps (just waiting for some oil pan gaskets so I can change it properly). If neither of those work I need to remove the coolant/trans interwarmer and the radiator cooler and go to an external cooler....somewhere.....(goodbye washer reservoir?), and if that fails give up on this mad idea and wait for Nissan to release the manual 400R
