SO its time for another update:

Wiring has begun in the car, its a real headf**k but were (read: I'm) pushing through. Its just basically putting together alot of simple relay circuits. Waiting to get one of those fuse holder blocks so I can add some fuses into the circuits.

We also have made the roof mounted IGN switch and Push Button Start - just for coolness!

Campbell also made up the nice mount for the battery / car cutoff switch. So when we throw this switch everything will turn off including the engine.

Fuel system is done, Campbell has been working hard getting that all done and was pretty much finished today, just need to wire up the relay for that. Just used rubber hose as the nice braided line and fittings is too many money for this project :)

Also waiting on me to get some new orings for the manifold - injector top feed converters. Then the fuel rail and injectors can go in. Were running Bosch 660cc injectors and a Sard FPR.

I worked on the V-Mount today, got the radiator lower brackets in,

mounted the intercooler, and chopped up the rad support a little! It was fun! HAHA Biggest grinder we could find was used - again for coolness...

I chopped up the top tank of the radiator because it wasnt gonna work with the setup. Well just make up a new tank piece and incorporate the outlet in way a that suits.

The oil cooler is mounted but will be flipped so as the fittings are inside the engine bay for neatness. Same deal with the filter mount. Just waiting on time to finish this one :)

Next we will try and sort out the cooler piping, finish off the oil cooler and relo, and continue on with the wiring :|

Peace!

Edit/P.s. Russell has done nothing for the last couple of months cos hes always too busy on holidays :@

+1

Nice work, it's coming together quite nicely.

Get Russ to do the rest of it? whistling.gif

Bit more work today.

Fitted the oil cooler, lines and relo filter mount. Got the clutch working and had a few drinks. And I was there!!!

We ended up flipping the cooler and now all the lines run in the engine bay. Mat has some more pics to upload.

Nice looking project will stay tuned.

Wise choice on the flat/basic paint colour...touch ups on the go with an aerosol can for the win.

OK since the thread has been bumped up, we will make an update.

Basically nothing has happened with the car, although the radiator and intercooler have been welded up and are now ready to be fitted, finishing off the vmount.

We need a rad hose, need to finish off welding up the cooler piping and it can pretty much be started! After a bit of checking of the wiring that is.

Pics soon.

    • That looks good, but I think you're going to need much beefier side skirts now.
    • They are daft and there's a reason it never caught on. Steering feel? We don't need no stinking steering feel!
    • I gotta pull you up on this. It's driving me crazy. A shutter is something that closes, like over a window or in a cmera. The word you want is shudder. That LSD is clearly f**ked. Take it to a diff shop and get it disassembled and examined by an expert. YOu might have plates welded together or something equally crazy.
    • Define "starting to fail". Wy not just rebuild them?
    • Check the Nistune doco. There are a few assumptions being made here that might not be valid. I will list the things that occur to me: Base map. Base map for what? Base map for Z32? Then the cranking pulse width is probably wrong for an RB25. The extra 500cc of capacity might well be enough to prevent it from catching. Base map for RB25? I don't think you can load one of those into a Z32. You have to just make the settings correct for an RB25 in the Z32 base map. That is either K or the TIM to get the pulsewidth right. Loom. You bought a loom for an RB. And you plugged it into a Z32 ECU. Did you make sure that any iwre differences were swapped. From memory, there's at least a couple. And as per the others, I would suggest making sure that the fuel pressure is correct while cranking and that the injectors are actually flowing as expected. They really must come out and go on the bench, unless you do find that you have messed up as per above points. I would also suggest watching in Nistune to make sure that everything is reading correctly. That the correct binary flags are raised at the right time (like the crank signal), that there's no stupid values in K or TIM. That you have not got mismatched firmware for the ECU and/or a wrong image loaded.
