Here at SauVic Motorsport we thought it would be a good idea to see what percentage of our members are actually into Motorsport. We are currently looking into running our first ever SAUVIC Track day at Winton at the end of October. If this event goes ahead it will likely replace the championship round at Winton schedueld for the 9th of October.

Just to give you an idea about this event, as this will be the last round of the SauVic Track Championship we are discussing the possibility of encorporating such things as a Cruise, Show and Shine and Saturday night festivities. At this stage we are estimating a ball park figure of around $140-$190 per entry for the Track Event.

Please note this event would be open for anyone to attend.

If we decide to go ahead with this event it would be a large financial outlay for the Club therfore it would be great if everyone could take the time to answer the above questions. With your help we hope to take SauVic motorsport to a new level.

Also, if the is anyone interested in being a part of the Motorsport Committee this year, please post in here or PM me your interest. Being part of the team means helping with such events as this Track day, Deca, Drag days and the Motorsport Championship. You do not need to be currently competing nor do you have to drive a skyline.

We would appreciate any ideas, opinions and suggestions - feel free to PM me if you do not wish to post in this thread.

Thanks Guys!

You cannot drift @ Winton through a club day.

It must be exclusively through VicDrif due to arrangements that are in place, and fair enough to given everything that's gone on (long story). :)

Just a suggestion:

"If you are not involved in Motorsport, why?"

Perhaps add an option for those that no longer have a vehicle up to the task of track days etc...That would be the option for me, but instead I just went with 'No time'

Ah well if there is some back story with issues then that's fair enough. It's just a shame that Winton is the only track you can go drifting on in Vic.

If it's on a Sunday, I'll be there. I only get to the odd round at the moment because Saturdays are out for me so I'm competing in the Marque Club/NDSOC championship this year. I'd much prefer to be coming to SAU days though!

i would be interested, but that time of the year is pretty close to exams so it really depends more on my uni timetable.

if it does go ahead then i will try to get some guys from aus300zx to come too.

I want to get into more motorsport, having done a few DECAs already, but finances mean I currently don't have a car suitable. Have one in progress, but it's unlikely to be ready this year.

How about... I would love to but I am afraid of stacking my only decent car with no track insurance in 1 second and have to work 2 years and survive on instant noodles and pushbiking to work to replace it?

Well, I guess the "too expensive" box will have to do.

yep sign up me, where do i pay.

imo the day should be run as an open practice not a champ round. this way you will get more people coming to the day

as their mates and gf can run as a passenger in the car all day.

an sau event should be less msca/alfa (while great days) type days and more tampered motorsport type days.

photo of all the cars on the grid etc etc

i really want to get into it, id love to do some track days and i was going to enter DECA until i had those few problems that are fixed.but the problem is my car is auto so wouldnt work to well but im getting a new car soon. also the other problem is im not very confident i really need to work on that part as well.

I've been trying to do more. Managed all but one DECA last year (through the trans in my daily going kaput), and damaged the car at two successive DECA's. The one track round I managed I came off on the first lap of the timed sessions, so that was the end of my day. Doesn't discourage me though haha  I snuck a couple of non-SAU track days in last year. Hoping to enter the rest of the Winton Sprints for the year (non-SAU.)

So yeah, I'd love to try and get out and do more. It's only been car troubles holding me back.

Yeah I'd definately be interested. Been looking at going to a Winton fun day for a while.

+1 For the I have a car but it isn't ready option.

I won't be entering the 33 onto a circuit until I have an Oil Cooler and some Brake mods. So could be a year. Could be 2. But it will happen. Until then 1/4 mile only as its a bit less taxing on the car. Personally time attack would be ideal. Do the lap and get the car off to cool down to save on wear and tear.

Yeh, definitely might need tick boxes instead of radio boxes up there, Im the same as Basti, time, money..etc... but would be interested, want to start getting into it once ive put my new turbo in.

2 other things affecting it for me: my lack of socializing with sau outside of the net makes me feel a little nervous, not that I will be judged or abused or anything, just I have close to 0 mates that are interested in cars, so no one to come with me. 2. I have been to winton once before, but barely knew what I was doing, what happens if your a noob on the track and everyone has to slow down as you go around corners? do u get hailed with stones as they flog past or whats the go?

WYTSKY, generally there are driver training groups, and I highly recommend you do a couple of those before going out and hitting the circuit alone.

As for me, well, won't be until a few years away before I get the balls to go out on the track again >_< Plus I need a half decent car.

    • Thanks mate, couldn't find in VIC, ended up ordering one from NSW, getting rwc to get new plates and registration done.
    • Before all the EFR fan boys come in, have a look at: https://www.garrettmotion.com/racing-and-performance/performance-catalog/turbo/g-series-ii-g30-825-58mm/ It also comes in a T4 1.06 divided housing. I would dare say if you want response & also decent power, this thing would chop.   AND apologies, just re-read your post, you've already bought the turbo... whatever you do, make sure you stick with divided housing and proper twin scroll manifold.
    • People have got to stop doing that. ShatGPT is not a search engine. It is a hallucination factory.   I also would recommend the 1.05. The .83 will "work" for you , in that it will be more responsive, but I think you'll find that it won't be anywhere near as good running it out to 8000rpm as the big housing will be.
    • Decided for the first time ever I would tow my car TO the track day on the same working theory as bringing tools and spares "if I have it I wont need it, but if I leave it behind i will 100% need it" all setup and ready to go out and try these A050 for the first time First session showed I needed to stiffen up the dampers a touch but still managed a few 1:21's without much effort. things were looking good. Came in a dropped the tyres down  to 26/28 as they had gotten to 35/33C from 22C cold The first lap of session two I managed to drop into 1:20's. Then in the second lap into the second session. Coming into T3 and I suddenly lost brake pedal followed by some huge rear end vibrations and scraping sounds. Got it back into the pits after session ended and found this. in the attached video, all of the wobble is in the hub its self, wheel is mint, and bearing feels tight. lKXLqpd - Imgur.mp4   Deciding it was a bent spindle I tried to find bearing/hub assembly locally but was unsuccessful so it was loaded back onto the trailer i luckily brought it on to drag it back home
