funkymonkey
Dammit, I'm ashamed to be German now omg you ARE justin beiber. Pat, most guys who get race cars prepped at the shop only swap to thermos when their radiators are too close, too far or at the wrong angle. Almost all of them prefer to run clutch fans, and the only thing that prevents em from doing so is restrictions imposed by rad. They dont choose a rad to suit the fan, ever. Also, you guise, building an RB23 isn't that difficult or expensive. It can be done with factory parts out of an RB26 and a little bit of machining. Much simpler than an RB25 swap as you don't have to change the electricals or ancillaries, and most definitely much cheaper and easier than changing to an RB30. Anyways... anyone doin anything tonight? For once I have a free saturday. Rekin
Sure rb25 is the easy option, but if you havent noticed by now, i prefer to go against the norm and learn by doing (Toyota principle #12). Its when you explore uncertainties that you understand why it has/hasnt been done that way. My goal isnt to have maximum killerwasps, its to explore why/how modifications improve the car. SIFThe HP gained by pissing off the clutch fan, is inadvertadly lost via the extra heat the thermo's cannot dissipate. Cost vs gain - i don't see it. I run around @ 67-71 degree's reasonable hard driving hard on the street/hill runs with just a Race Radiator item & factory clutch fan - none of this pussy idle business See how you go with 15mins of solid 280rwkw heat and then come show me HP gain is minimal when removing the clutch fan, but as you can see from the video, there is no problem with heat dissipation if you have a proper shroud/thermo setup. Many silvia/gtr trackcars have thermofan setups and have never heard them complaining about heat issues. Im not talking about slapping on thermo fans to the face of the radiator, that will achieve very bad results as its not pulling air through the whole face but only the section it is mounted on. Im not against the engine fan, but thermo fans are equal if not better in some aspects than engine fan omg you ARE justin beiber.Pat, most guys who get race cars prepped at the shop only swap to thermos when their radiators are too close, too far or at the wrong angle. Didnt want to cut up the fan/shroud as that will lose cooling ability, so thermofans were explored. Rb22/23/24 are made up of gtr crankshaft, gtr pistons or 4agze pistons and machine work. A much more interesting project than dropping in a rb25. If i wanted one, i would have got a r33. krzysiu
Fair enough to be different. But like ash said about cost vs gain you will still have a weaker engine that cost you more. Like that guy that put 250,000 grand into a Suzuki swift. Fair enough it's very different, but it couldn't keep up with a stock 180 lol Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/310874-vic-wasteland-thread/page/301/#findComment-5301340 Share on other sites

dezz
Had another poker night with the footy boys...Just continued my form from the last 4 tournaments of going out one place out of the money, with the best hand I had all night. Tonight was pocket kings, short stacked against the other 2 remaining...All in after the flop which was 10 something something, 3-4:1 chip leader calls me with AK, turn is no help. river is an ace. Last time I went out in 4th (paying top 3) with a full book Aces and 3's, went all in, lost on the river to a full book Aces and 9's...
