1. Save money

2. Invest money

3. re-invest profits from investments

4. buy GTR once annual profits from investments are larger than annual loan repayments, insurance, rego, maintanence, modding, etc.

Unfortunately this may take a while, and some sacrafice....the good thing is the bank will be happy to loan you money based on the value of your investments, and after you've paid off the GTR loan you still have your investments with which will make a nice deposit for a house...

i think the best place to start in my case would be give up the drink, the dinners out, the socialising with friends... and then i may be a chance.

Actually im happy with my GTST and having some cash to do other things. But at $220 per week to own my GTST its going shortly as travelling/working OS attempts are being hamstrung by Skyline ownership. :P

Buying the car is one thing, maintaining it is another. :)

thanks guys,

BTW no offence Mr. 51jay

Well looks like work hard and save save save. Is the way to go. Otherwise i might consider getting myself adopted by a rich family. Although at 27 , i'm not exactly cute no more. hehehehehehe

I like the look of a R33 more than r32, although I know r32 is much lighter then r33 and r34. but I'm willing to sacrifice 0.5 - 1 sec just for the look. Anyway 40k ay?

2 dollars down 39998 to go. Wish me luck!!!!

Work hard and try to be the very best in your field, invest it and then re-invest it until ur financially secure to take on a highly depreciative hobby. i got my first gtr ages ago after a stints with high powered euros and owned a few other nice car since.

So head down bum up

thanks guys,

If you look like your avatar i'll adopt you and buy you a r34gtr

Keep your eyes and ears open . I've seen an 95 R33 GTR VSpec going for $36k and a 94 R33 GTR for $24k. Didn't enquire further as to why they were so cheap (accident damaged, caned? who knows?), but you might be lucky enough to find a geniunely cheap bargain along the way.

If you're like me, and stop drinking and going out, you'd be surprised as to how much you save :D

I can afford to buy an R32 GTR right now (22, working in IT) but I don't think I can afford its upkeep (insurance, servicing, maintenance, 2x cost to modify compared to GTSt).

Spend wisely, and yeah never spend more than what you have. Don't run up a credit debt, and most importantly budget. Providing you earn over 35K it should be pretty easy for you to get one in about 2-3 years.

Hey Duncan,

You said IT, what exactly about IT. Because I'm doing a little bit of helpdek for mobil. As Hewlett Packard closed shop and moved over to INDIA. I'm trying to get my CNA and I have completed ADVANCE DIP in computer systems. If you know any position going. PLS hook me up.

AS FOR MISTER2 > my name is Hayden not BARBIE GRIFFIN. She's spanish.

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
