maybe the steering-wheel defect was due to removing an airbag wheel to fit it. probably wasn't anything to do with what it was made of

unless 'woodgrain' referred to a short length of 4x2 attached to the top of the steering column :D

The SA Transport website has a lot of information about what is and isnt allowed (steering wheels, tint, exhaust, ride height), etc.

Also see the 'defect' thread in the SA area for specific questions (there's a lot of information in there already). It generally isn't too hard to keep your car legal, even in SA where they're a little more strict than other states.

Hi guys, check my R33 GTS sedan, ive just put up heaps of pics of recent changes ive made to it including legal front daytime driving lights. The thing is they have to be white, facing foward of the car and emit no more than 18W of power. have fun with this mod it looks pretty sweet:)

i think you want an Audi

Careful of those 'white' LEDs - Regency made me remove mine claiming they were 'too blue' .. (yours definitely seem to have hints of blue in them..)

Here are mine in the evening

same colour at the parking lights and ive had them on for 5 years now and no probs or looks from the police. I think you an buy diffeent types of these LED strips of ebay and just have to be carefull not to get the supposed "white LEDs" from china. Ive found buying from an australian seller more than often gives you a better chance of gettnig a true white colour

Thanks for the heads up though. Also i have them on a seperate toggle switch to the parkers, which for true daytime driving lights they need to be a seperate unit.

Have a good one guys

yea man. wtf is your car crying? bad fuel? rough ride?

well? what is it?

Its actully a very happy minded car haha!

good economy, sweet sound and the LEDs look very classy during the day, i do get its an aquired taste but you dont need knock it cause its different.

at the end of the day, its up to the 'officers discretion'. if they think its defect material they can send you to regency. thats what i've learnt from experience, really sucks though because there is so much you can do to make your car look nice, but it also attracts the wrong attention.

Your spot on!

When i got pulled over for my led lights( were blue at the time, now changed to white), there were two officers, one younger cadette and an old school full grey beard officer. The young officer was commenting how tidy the car was and how good condition it was in for a 1994 car. I told him that i look after and treat it nicelly. The other officer just looked at me and coninued to comb the entire car for defects!

so yeah nice to look at, but at the same time im getting tired of being look at by the wrong people haha!

In syd, my friend got a ticket for not having water in his wiper reserve tank !!!

there are ways around mods though,

you can hide things like turbos, ecu, BOVs, best place for a BOV is under a fender. I think people usually get booked when an officer has lots of shiny things to look at. Shiney stainless steel piping, blue silicon hoses are a good sign of something else sleeping under the bonnet.

To be honet, i much prefer the stealth look, i have black intercooler piping, black BOV, black Boost controller, ecu is hidden, BOV is under fender, black runners surrounded by black heat sheild,

next thing on the list, black rocker cover. Its still all there, but its not staring you in the face is all im saying.

    • That looks good, but I think you're going to need much beefier side skirts now.
    • They are daft and there's a reason it never caught on. Steering feel? We don't need no stinking steering feel!
    • I gotta pull you up on this. It's driving me crazy. A shutter is something that closes, like over a window or in a cmera. The word you want is shudder. That LSD is clearly f**ked. Take it to a diff shop and get it disassembled and examined by an expert. YOu might have plates welded together or something equally crazy.
    • Define "starting to fail". Wy not just rebuild them?
    • Check the Nistune doco. There are a few assumptions being made here that might not be valid. I will list the things that occur to me: Base map. Base map for what? Base map for Z32? Then the cranking pulse width is probably wrong for an RB25. The extra 500cc of capacity might well be enough to prevent it from catching. Base map for RB25? I don't think you can load one of those into a Z32. You have to just make the settings correct for an RB25 in the Z32 base map. That is either K or the TIM to get the pulsewidth right. Loom. You bought a loom for an RB. And you plugged it into a Z32 ECU. Did you make sure that any iwre differences were swapped. From memory, there's at least a couple. And as per the others, I would suggest making sure that the fuel pressure is correct while cranking and that the injectors are actually flowing as expected. They really must come out and go on the bench, unless you do find that you have messed up as per above points. I would also suggest watching in Nistune to make sure that everything is reading correctly. That the correct binary flags are raised at the right time (like the crank signal), that there's no stupid values in K or TIM. That you have not got mismatched firmware for the ECU and/or a wrong image loaded.
