lol, im keen to try a 6766, but even with the modern tech, i have a funny feeling it wont outperform/or be as good as my old gt4294 setup

have to wait for this 6870 maybe. Pity Pt wont make custom turbos a 6775 would work well...

Outperform/be as good as is a relative term. The cool thing about a lot of these turbos is the size difference - I almost had to eat my hat (thanks Nytsky) its pretty cool that a 64mm/66mm turbo can make the same kind of power as a 70mm/71mm hero turbo of the previous decade... there is no that that is not giong to have a really noticeable difference in the real world. Aside from "that sound" I'd much rather have that response of the 6466 and the same power as the T51R Kai, quite keen to see results from FP's take on the 6466 which has now been released - they are clearly taking aim at the Precision unit and their turbos in that size range are often quite rowdy, if they can do something to rival the 6466 in all relevant ways then that would rule :D

Precision already do a PT6768, and FP do a "6868" (Super 94HTA) using an aggressive (flow versus size) turbine design so there is already something on the market for that kind of target, but yeah - I think decent built RBs probably need something with more turbine than the likes of the 6766, depending on what you are looking for.

yes it is definitly a relative term Lith. yeh the 68 turbine is a q trim wheel, looks like when they updated from the 65 to the 66, it probally made it

a little redundant though maybe?.

i was thinking in auto Rb30 terms., with the extra load a bigger turbine would keep the egt in check and make the motor a whole lot happier in the tune up ,the 6766 is no

doubt always going to choke on a Rb30 in the turbine section and not the compressor side with 93lb of flow id guess.

although some of the 2j supra results are outstanding..

Can't wait for this 6870 deal..

cheers

darren

Hi Dave

A long time coming but here is the difference from the T78 and the PT6262 and it drive like a different car, clutch is easy with a bit of power down low :)

Brown = new tune

Blue = old tune

so it takes 23psi to make 333kws thought it would be running close to 350-360kws at that boost pressure is yours twin scroll? Dave hurry and chuck the results for the RB25 on twinscroll.

Still awaiting the retune results on my 6466 on my 25/30 motor. Hopefully some decent numbers

Thought I'd update this thread to for those not following my build.

Got mine tuned Friday :My 6466 went 630hp on 29psi but was lifting the head. Ended up winding it back to 451hp on 15psi for now till we can get in there and sus out the problem. Car already had ARP studs. Dyno graphs to follow

Expected 350-360 as well, said the exhaust is very restrictive , having a custom done.

It was also having a fuel problem, not sure if this made any difference??

They said that tuning for response you loose some top end power ??

New to this so I can only take the word of a professional tuner.

If you could have driven this car before and now you would be like me, happy :)

Pete,

I'm just finishing off a carbon fibre custom catch can setup, got mines baffles and -12AN speedflow lines to help everything breath a bit better.
Saying that it's almost finished and once all assembled will be dropped off for head removal and the last few bits going in.

I'll update this thread with results as soon as it hits the rollers.

First half of the catch can setup for those interested in pics

Cheers Noy

Well had the exhaust done, did not pick up much power but it helped where I wanted it, response.

since I changed the Turbo,Cams and Exhaust the car has gone from a pig to drive to being fun, enough up top and good bottom response,street drive :)

Here is the latest Dyno

New Dyno 345.4 KW

Red = Boost off

Blue = Low Boost

Orange = High Boost

Old T78 = 337.9KW

Hi Noy

Like to see the results when you are finished, as for me I am done with the mods, the car is driving very well for a DD and that is what I wanted . I have a 350GT Skyline (Jap Import), I put APS Twin Turbo system on it and with the extra torque it made the R34GTR seem crappy and it was a "thing" to drive BUT all good now :)

One thing left to do I am putting 18" Advan RS-D , machine lip/ gloss black spokes, have a look on their site and tell me what you think

    • (it is a brand new ported mellings pump) I suspect the lack of pressure is due to the leak. It was *not* that low in other logs of oil pressure in the past. It wasn't that hot either, but not far off.
    • Would a Mellings oil pump be a viable option  From my time with a LS, and talking to tuners and LS specialists, the "weak" OEM oil pump is one of the first things they recommend to swap out if I was going to give the engine any high RPM I opted for a Mellings high volume, with the high pressure springs and I never had a issue with it Cost wise they are not expensive in the scheme of things
    • Just bought a 2002 Stagea 250tRS VR-X Four AERO VQ25DET and spent the last two weekends cleaning and detailing it.. still have to do the wheels and the engine bay but the rest of it came up nice. Imported 2011 to S.A. and I'm the third owner since it was imported. I met the guy who brought it over, he went to Japan and picked out the car, bought it and ordered the wheels. He also gave me a list of stuff he did to the car with receipts. Coil overs (I have the original springs), 3" exhaust from the dump pipe back no cat, Custom dump pipe,(I have the original exhaust), Plenum spacer, 18" custom Work XSA wheels (need restoring, I've made a start..), Shift kit put through the 5 speed tiptronic auto, TV and menus/screens changed to english, Australian DTV tuner installed in rear. I've just had four new discs and new pads as well as all the fluids including the brake fluid replaced. I have all the receipts for the last 15 years and the import papers in a nice folder. Car looks great, goes like hell but fuel economy is not a thing lol.. pics next..
    • I ended up in this rut again lol, and used a shit ton of filler. One thing I can't understand is, even after using a big long block and going in long X pattern strokes, I always end up at bare metal again with no filler, and my repair started at one end of the door and now I've chased my tail to almost the other end of the door. I was thinking of hitting the panel with a hammer where it might be a high spot and making everything low then filling it, I did this on a small section on my other door by mistake and I think I fixed it lol. Is this a bad idea? The other thing is with guidecoat, whether it's the powder or spray, after I sand all the guide coat off, it doesn't reveal anything for me in terms of high spots and low spots and makes it especially hard when it's bare metal (at least in powdered form), am I doing something wrong here, or likely a high spot I keep going over and creating valleys? Lastly, stupid question but, is it possible that after sanding if I only sand over the filler area where I know to be a dent that it's impossible for me to dig into that dent? Unless there are other problems which I missed.
