have many people had much success with the 6266 turbo on a built 2.6?

coming from my old supra with a stock 3L (no cams etc either) with a 6466, the 6266 on my gtr feels considerably laggier.

It does seem to be the journal bearing (purchased the car with it on) which would certainly effect the transient speeds between shifts but I still thought there would be more lower in the mid range.

I've just completed a full service and its off for a retune this week so ill have a dyno sheet to put up soon

Interested in seeing 5862 as well. I have a 2.75L BC stroker build on stock bores (N1 block) and I want something super responsive for pumpgas on the street. I'm not one for E85 or racegas because they aren't really available in the area.

I'm betting my stroker, with Poncams A, ported head, +0.5mm SS valves, etc will run pretty dang good with the 58mm turbo.

Finally got my car tuned.@19 psi, 93 octane 611/449 tq on precision 6262. Lmk what u guys think

This pretty much has me convinced of the 6262. Are you on a stock stroke and/or displacement?

I have a BC stroker motor on new N1 block (std bores), ported head, SS valves, Tomei Poncams A, etc. I'm going for a nice response build.

Another shop is trying to get me to run their billet (not precision) version of the 6262 and I may take them up on it since he's offering a great price and warranty. He just wants to see what it will make on a good RB26 setup. They have made 640 whp on a stock 2JZ with their 6262 and wanted to see what it would do on a built 2.75L RB26.

What manifold is everyone running?? I don't want to have to change my R32 PS or A/C out to later.

Hey guys,

Just picked up a Precision 5858 off a mate that needs a rebuild. It currently has a .63 rear housing and I was curious if anyone has seen any results with this kind of set up on a RB25.

I've seen Rondofj's results with slightly smaller 5558/.63 combo and his car made 286kw with full boost around 3600-3800rpm. So I'm assuming I'd have no issues running a 5858 with the same rear housing ... might make the magical 300kw mark too? (kinda all I want on a unopened RB25 for drift anyway).

My guess is it would be responsive as f**k, just wondering if it'll choke in the top end, and/or cause excess exhaust heat/restrictions etc.

Thanks!

Edit: I saw the 5858 on the RB25 neo on the last page too, very impressive!

I saw that last night

Should go awesome, same HP rating as a 6266 with less lag !

Less lag will be a stretch, just because the wheela are smaller doesn't negate the fact it's pushing 50hp more of air. Keen to see results though, could be a downgrade/upgrade for me

Wound the 6262 up a bit more for racewars this weekend

Effing-A that is some good power!!! All this on a STOCK bottom?!?!

As a mechanical engineer I LOVE reading data and sorting through turbo selection and compressor maps...none of which Precision provide...but DAMN the numbers don't lie!!! I guess they let their powerbands do the talking. This turbo would be sick on my stroker motor.

I have to ask, why do so many people keep the revs down on their dynos? Am I crazy in thinking mine will go 8-8500 no problem?

You'll notice it pretty much makes peak power at 5-5500rpm.....no point revving it to 8k.

Green line is power. Power peaks all the way near 7500. Even if the power stays over 600 above this, there is still a reason to stretch the powerband out and have the tune in place for the revs. I am curious if the engines can do it is all...maybe this is too much to ask for the stock bottom end?

So it is.

A built engine will rev beyond 10k if you want it to...i.e. Massive turbo.

Limiter is at 8800, kicks in around 8500... I'll change around 8500 on the weekend.

I think the dyno was just set to limit at 8000

    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
    • I checked spark on all cylinders and they all visually have spark with the plug pulled and grounded, but plug 1 is the only one that fouled. This was a running swap that blew up and was rebuilt by a machine shop, put a new wiring specialties harness and did all gaskets, studs, and bolts while it was out.  compression is 135-150 across all cylinders. Aside from that from my understanding with the z32 ecu and maf the car should start regardless. The wiring for TPS and the dual 02 sensor/ dual knock sensor stuff shouldn’t actually stop the car from starting or even running well, (just slightly rich)  they just give fault codes. Car supposedly is supposed to start as long as you have z32 afm and ecu with the nistune base map and that’s info coming from a well known and trusted tuner who does a lot with SR/RB (Rsenthalpy). After more trouble shooting today where I’m at right now is that the cas is sending signal to the injectors they click while spinning the rotor, Fuel pressure is now set at 43psi, all cylinders have good compression and all of the plugs looked great (just wet with fuel) except for cylinder 1 which was very black (cylinder 1 has 150psi compression). all of the coils generate spark if pulled out and grounded out on the head. On the fuel pump car just pops into the exhaust. On starting fluid car will fire off. Hard to tell if all cylinders are firing off but definitley a couple. sounds like all of them but it’s only for 3-5 seconds hard to tell.
    • Final update!!! Got the front bar fitted and sprayed and all sorted now. My cutouts worked great and the indicators aren’t just falling off. 😂
    • Is this a brand new LSD? if so, have you followed any break/bed in procedure for it? Usually involves heaps of figure 8 patterns, a fluid flush.
