I got pulled over on monday. I bought the car 2 weeks ago with a roady and still copped a fine for 300 buck for drivin a unroadworthy vehicle.

Only reason I didn't get defected is cos I was on my way to the airport and was in a rush.

It was a RBT on Kellets rd near stud. There was a couple of skylines there getting done too.

SCUM! You should be able to take that up with the place that did the roadworthy for you mate. That's just unfair.

What did they get you on?

It seems to me they were pulling over cars and just trying to get them on anything they could.

Yeah i'm gonna be seeing the mechanic when i get back to melbourne next week. got me on 2 x intake mods. (fmic & pod) and a momo wheel with no airbag. And he reckons the exhaust is too low. thats wank i think tho.

Yeah I reckon they were makin a quota on monday. They were packin up and the coppa saw me and ran out to the middle of the road to flag me down

woot im cop free till i get my next car. get to relax for a bit now and watch my mates drivein fear LOL

but this is what i saw on friday night.

so went for a drive was smart to take dads VE calais. the streets for a friday night was empty and i spotted a TMU or unmarked cop every 5 mins or so. jumped on the princess and its dead. had cruise set to 75 and just cruised down the princess and then out off no where this TMU comes flying up behind me then comes along the side. hangs for a few seconds then jets off. im like WTF then notice he did a u turn to pull a f**king lancer with a farty cannon.

anywhose so i keep driving and at the lights i stop next to another tmu. lights goes green so i decide to just drive along side of him and then heading opposite our direction a group of 5 cars 2 had HID's. this f**ker cop sped up cut me off to do a U turn (so i beeped at him hahahha) and turns so hard that he actually clipped the curb then speeds off and pulls one of the cars over in the group

what a flamin mongrel. they did nothing wrong. just cruising. later on when i was heading home i saw the guy that got pulled over. asked him if he got done for anything. he points to his windscreen. he got a major f**king defect because he was low in window washer fluid (still had some but less then 1/4) and one of his brake lights was brighter then the other...it was a f**king Hyundai excel for f**king crying out loud with what looked like a nerdy little asian kid. and he coped a major defect for that

can they actually give a defect of any sort for washer bottle not being full? that surely could not hold up in court?

as long as there is a bottle and it was still working....

Many buyers I have dealt with prefer a modified car, so after I get the RWC i put the illegal mods back on at their request, knowing full well

that the risk lies with the buyer only and informing them of this.

Did you get the RWC issued yourself, or was this done by the seller?

If the seller arranged for the RWC, then the mechanic simply has to say the car was returned to stock for the inspection and must

have been changed (either at your request or not) after the RWC was issued. The mechanic will escape all liability this way.

i didnt think so but now its up to the cop. if a cop thinks your car is not safe for the roads he can slap and major defect and request you to get a RWC. thats what i got told (in a nicer way) when i was defected.

you can take it up in court but most ppl dont bother.

Yes Hamish they have given defects for no water in washer bottle. :woot:

That's so disgraceful mate. And before I got caught on Monday I'd have taken your story with a grain of salt, but after my cop went through red lights to pull me over for inspection I'd believe every word of it.

Who are the real criminals here, us minding our own business and concentrating on driving or the police who make the irrational decision to break road rules left right and centre just to track down a friggen import and then dick us for having SAFER equipment than most cars on the road? It's so backwards all you can do is laugh. If I'd gotten an NOU or a fine you best believe I'd have taken it to court over their actions when pulling me over. And next time a cop decides to tailgate my ass before putting on his lights he'll wanna be careful a bird doesn't fly in front of my car because I have a habit of reacting quickly to things like that.

Nanny state ftw!

Everytime people post and complain about cops, the stock SAU reply is "Drive normally and nothing will happen." or "Don't drive a car that can be defected." Yeah right lol, I've had cops drive over nature strips and hills to pull me over. :woot: Some of you are just lucky. Furthermore, this thread substantiates that if a cop wants to defect you, he can (and will) for just about anything. By and large I do not like the police and yes I have a victim mentality, having owned around 15 turbo-powered imports since I've had my Ls, I've only been done for speeding once. Some hoon I am!

That said, if you drive an import, expect defects. So meh. No amount of good driving will save you. That said, it does help your cause as does being polite when pulled over.

spose ya'll seen the new blitz about to start?

OPERATION PIPEDOWN

On Tuesday the 20th of April 2010, Operation Pipedown, targeting excessively noisy motor vehicles and safety related offences will commence. The operation will accompany a media campaign. The operation will be conducted in the Melbourne area for a two week period, concluding on Saturday the 1st of May 2010. The media campaign will commence one week before the enforcement phase of the operation, commencing on the 13th of April, 2010. This initiative will be conducted in conjunction with:

Police Media Liaison Unit,

Melbourne University Medical Faculty,

Environment Protection Authority,

Melbourne City Council,

Safe Streets Task Force,

Region 1 TMU.

It is anticipated that various community groups together with anti-noise lobby groups will be providing their support to the media campaign.

Excessively loud motor vehicles are a community disorder issue with much of the blame placed on drivers of illegally modified cars and motorcycles, or sport bikes equipped with illegal exhaust systems such as straight pipes, drag pipes or performance pipes.

Excessive noise is a serious environmental problem impacting health and well-being. The effects of this excessive noise should not be trivialized.

Excessively loud motor vehicles constitute an offence against the Environment Protection Act.

In combination with a focus on excessively loud motor vehicles, the focus will also be towards safety related offences. Offences such as: Drink Driving, Roadworthy Offences, Fail to Wear Seat Belt, Fail to Give Signal, Use Hand Held Mobile Phone While Driving.

How many loud exhausts have caused major accidents... I am not saying I agree with illegally loud vehicles but surely its not the greatest concern we have as a state. Although it is refreshing to hear that speed wasnt mentioned!

Surely harley bikes and the like should get defects. I dont care if thats how it came out of the factory, its ridiculous. Anyone seen south park?? F*GS

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
