if you are done for less than 10k's over (which he stated he was) is only 1 point therefore 3x1=3, 5-3=2= keeping license, if you dont believe me i can show you the calculator i used to work it out.

Did i only lose one point for 56 in 50 zone (and 65 in 60)? :)

I thought it was 3... that means I've got 4 extra points - WINNER!

Although in saying that, if he lost his license within the past 12 months due to points... If memory serves me correct it still counts for the 5 in 12 (potentially).

If you already have two fines - that is license gone.

Write a letter if you want, but factually you have no ground to stand on here so you are not actually "contesting" it. You are writing a letter of "grovel" :)

This is correct. I "grovelled" my one fine which pained me to do so (7kph over on a 4 lane freeway), however I did get out of it. The basis for mine was my clean record, however contesting 3 fines potentially will rule that basis out for you.

Ash - Points calc above is correct. I had 2 fines arrive for the Mini after we sold it, one for 88 and the other 89, going each way in the tunnel. Both 1 pointers and $140 something fine.

Lol Ash.. its only 1 point for up to 10 kph over.

Its not the cops, camera's are privately operated, even cops will tell you that camera's are placed at points to get maximum profit not maximum safety.

that only work once and has to be over a extended period i dont think a p plater would qualify

You can always send a letter but my mate on his p-plates got told he can't contest the fine.

Thats bullshit, there is a section on the back you fill in if you want to take it to court, just fill it in send it off and they will send you a letter telling you when your date in court is.

I've just received a second speeding ticket in a matter of days for getting caught in the same spot twice, and I fear a third will be on the way.

Quite simply I didn't see the camera till I drove past there at night and caught the flash (this one I haven't received yet). The camera was on the highway about 50 meters before a 90kph sign, and I've been caught both times at around 87-88ks (its an 80 zone before the sign).

Is there anyway I can contest this? I don't mind copping one fine, but all 3? Being on my P's that's more than half my points! Could I claim that I didn't realise that section was still 80 (I honestly thought speeding up when you saw the next sign was legal), and that the following two fines are unfair as I didn't receive my first fine before getting clocked for the following two?

Thanks for any input.

i dunno where but i think i read somewhere that there's like a code of conduct or something in relation to speed cameras, i think it mentions stuff like distance to speed limit changes and that if you get done more than once on the same stretch of road you only have to cop the first fine, for example if your speeding on the western ring road from start to end and you go through all of the cameras you only have to wear the first one, i think it also said something about going through the same camera multiple times that you only have to pay the first time, for example if you've gone through it a couple of times before you get the first fine. i'm not totaly sure on it but it might pay to google it or something...

Yep, all the stuff you need is here http://www.justice.vic.gov.au/camerascutcrashes There is a handbook that is used for the placement of cameras etc on that site as well somewhere.

oh yehhhh cool story bro.

which pub where you at when you heard that gem? no offence but im like certain thats not the case otherwise we'd all go 3ks over thru the first camera then do top speed runs down to greensbourough :D

I believe the idea/theory behind not copping two fines on the same stretch of road or within a given time is that you've had no opportunity to learn from your mistake or realise you were speeding. Which is why I think all cameras should have to flash.

Yep, that is what I've seen as well. Not sure where or if it works, but certainly makes sense. I think I saw it on the police site or fighting the tickets or something.

I am presently fighting a not wearing seatbelt fine, given when police asked me to move my car and in my anxiety and panic forgot to put my belt on. I moved 10m forward so thats like 2km/hr lol, :S

It could be wrong but i heard that if you are in a vehicle that is constantly stopping and you are getting in and out and you do not exceed 40k's that you are exempt from wearing a seat belt.

has anyone heard the story of a work safety officer being pulled over by police for doing 68 in a 60 zone at night and the cop gave him his fine, and when the cop went to jump back in his car he got out and handed him a $500 fine for not wearing his safety vest on at night. i lol'ed but not sure if its 100% true, but if it is thats awesome.

you could state in th eletter that under Australian Design Rules that the speedo of your car can be out as much as -10% to +10% of the actual displayed speed. Get this tested and you could well stand a chance.

lol at thinking you can speed up once you see the sign, I can see a speed sign from pretty far away so that means I could be doing up to 40kph over the limit by the time I pass it :)

Good luck but I don't like your chances, sorry. Just keeping it real

    • Apologies for the long post, but needed somewhere to lay out the entire timeline of events and actions taken:   I've got an 89 GTR with a R34 RB in it. It's been running great all year, driven probably 500KM in the last month. It's not my daily driver, just a weekend fun car.    Build info: R34 RB26 - HKS 2.7 stroker kit, HKS adjustable cam gears, HKS turbo upgrades, Trust intercooler, R34 factory DENSO 440cc injectors, JUN chipped/tuned R32 ECU. All of this work was performed in Japan back in 2019.    Thursday 10/2/25 - It's a nice day and decided I'll drive it to work, I start it up in the garage and I notice it took a few extra cranks and sounded a bit funny. I figure maybe it was just because it was a pretty chilly morning. I pull it out into the driveway to warm up a bit before leaving. As I leave the driveway, it feels very off and sounds like a misfire. I pull it back in the garage to deal with after work and take the daily to work. I was able to diagnose it as a cylinder 5 misfire with the old spark plug test (unplugging each plug until a sound change with the engine running). I take off the whole ignition system, ignitor, plugs, spark. *Important note, it is still on the R32 ignition system with the separate ignitor system. I test each system with a multi-meter and nothing presents as a smoking gun. I put it all back together and it starts up no issue. I go ahead and order the PRP R35 ignition conversion kit. It should arrive today (10/13/25)   Friday 10/3/25 - Another nice day, car starts up great and drives great all day. Very pleased that everything seems to be OK   Sunday 10/5/25 - Decided I'll take it to play some golf, load up and drive to the course about 25 minutes away. Drives wonderful the whole way there, I pull in the parking lot and the engine completely comes to a stop. I do not recall if it sputtered at all, but just remember all of the sudden the engine was off. I roll it into a parking spot, try to crank it back on and nothing.  It'll crank and crank and not even try to start. End up getting it towed back to my house and push it up into the garage.    Items I have checked: Fuel in the tank Fuel Pump relay Fuel pump fuse  Spark Plugs & gap Coil packs Ignitor    I know the cylinders are getting fuel as the plugs smell like fuel after a start attempt. I tried spraying starter fluid into the manifold and cranking and not even a sputter.    I decided to do the live CAS test (removing the the CAS, ignition on and spinning the CAS stalk to see if the injectors pulse and spark is active). All of the injectors were pulsing and I have spark at the plug. The half-moon end of the CAS did seem very loose, I'm not sure how much play is supposed to be there, but it was more than I expected. There was no in/out play of the shaft, just the tip end that is pinned on had quite a bit of play.    CAS Play video   When I put the CAS back in, I stupidly did not re-time the engine. I know I need to do that tonight, however, I do not think it will start given it seemingly was not the issue. My plan is to do the PRP R35 coil kit and retime the engine at the same time.    I plan on ordering the Haltech Nexus Plug-in ECU once they are available again, but ideally would like to get this sorted before firing the parts cannon at it and potentially adding more variables.    Anything glaring that I am missing here, I'm a bit at a loss?
    • Get it on a dyno. Get something logging Consult. Run it up and find out what is causing it.
    • Looking for a plenum for rb25 de+t neo  Not looking to push much power maybe 300kw at the wheels, is there much difference in flow for Freddy “Greddy style” compared to original Greddy or options like Proflow or Otaku garage?    I won’t be porting the de Neo head for now as I think it’ll be fine 280-300rwkw but appreciate the help and any experiences anyone has between them and any advice. Thanks  Looking at this plenum for now below
