The story goes like this...

I had just collected my car from the mechanics for an oil change and transmission fluid change. The car was all good to go. And on the way home, less than 500m from the mechanic, the lights turned amber, so i stopped because i was pretty far away. The next thing i know, a barina ploughed into me.

An old lady was driving it, her airbags were deployed, so that must mean that the impact was pretty large. She was fine though, just in shock, her radiator fluid was all over the place, and the front end was wrecked.

So, I don't have insurance, well, i was meaning to get a 3rd party cover with JustCar but in the end, i couldn't really be bothered, i kept on procrastinating and then shit happened.

So, what do i do to make a claim on her insurance? She said pensioners insurance, so i'm expecting its APIA.

Other than a sore neck, and an undrivable car, I'm fine, if anyone cares.

This happened yesterday afternoon, and thus, i'm no longer gay, because i no longer drive a supra.

spewin man

yeh you claim through her company go through express legal they are really good i used them for the dude that reversed into my lexus was easy as fill in the form and away i went. i can pm you his email if you like. Its the only way to do it and ensures you get good quality work if you go through her insurer they may use second hand parts and things

oh and its free they are a "settlement agent" get APIA to admit fault and case closed which will be easy in this instance

That sucks.

You should have got her insurance companies name from her.

What will likely happen is her company will ring you to discuss assessing/repairing/writing off your car. It's obvious who was at fault so they won't try to fight it.

If you don't hear from them in a day or two give the old duck who hit you a call and ask her for the details in regards to her claim so you can get in touch with her insurance company.

Don't stress too much. When accidents are clear as to who is at fault they tend to run smoothly (from my experience anyway). Altho they may try and shaft you on how much they give you back, as per the RACV are attempting to do to me at the moment.

Damn, yeah it's good you and her are ok.

When I got hit by a car on my bike I had insurance but I still went through a lawyer and it worked out fine. That is an option. Otherwise if she is willing to cooperate there might be another way to claim without having insurance. 3 party won't apply to you in this case, only her (unless it was your fault?) so it should all be through her end.

Other than that, I would recommend getting 3rd party anyway... you know... with all those 100 thousand dollar mercedes on the road and your car doesn't have abs O_O Up to you but it's a high risk without it. (and I'm not trying to 'tell you so' just worried for the chance that you might have bad luck one day)

I will be gay again, once they pay me for the car =D

Twin turbo, this time, f**k p plater laws, by the time i find a car i like, it'll be august and i'll no longer be a p plater.

Twin turbo hey.... That just means you are gonna be twice as gay :/ haha

But seriously, it's good that you and her are ok.... Since she was old, the airbag coulda taken her head off lol

I agree, 3rd party is a MUST. Even just the cheapest option. Because imagine one day, you drive your car into a metal power pole and knocked it over, then another 3-4 poles followed lol, that's 400k-500k that you don't have xD

Hard luck on the car man, hopefully insurance payout is equal or more the value of the vehicle...

On the bright side, you can now get a TT Supra or something heterosexual like a GTR.

lol, bankruptcy ftw

Sucks to hear mate.

It takes 10 minutes to sign up for 3rd party with just cars online, please do it!

Don't have a car to insure anymore HAHA.

but i'm really glad i didn't take the kitten out with me to the mechanic's lol.

    • Pads for R32 GTS-t, R32 GT-R non V-Spec (Sumitomo), R33 GTS-t and R34 GT-t are all interchangeable. R34 GT uses a 2x piston caliper, hence it didn't fit.
    • Checked with amayama and nope, the full S2 manual set is not available anymore. Unsurprising, but still disappointing as the ? on availability gave a glimmer of hope.
    • I've heard the Tomei USA head gaskets are decent if you want to o-ring the heads but otherwise not recommended.
    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
