A 255/40/17 will foul the rear guards in an RE55 tyre on a +22 offset. Mine did anyway. So it will get ugly in a +15.

The front is a bit different. With the amount of neg camber you need to run you will probably get away with a wider offset than a +22.

Bridgestone recommend a 9" rim for a 255 bag tyre - you don't have to use drift tyre/rim sizing combinations....

Check also that a 17" rim will clear your brake rotor/calliper. 17" usually means 3345 rotor at maximum unless you are carefull with calliper & rim selection.

17inch rims not an issue for my ap setup as only runs a 333 disc.

thanks for the info on offset etc, if lower offset is not needed they i stay with the +20ish area and 9inch

The factory tank does a very good job, is mounted well for weight distribution, and has enough capacity for quite a few laps, even on E85....... Hi Octane 32 GTR still runs the factory tank.

I am overhauling/converting the ex-Willall Racing 8 sec drag R32 into a circuit car and it's factory fuel tank was long gone 8-9 years ago :)

I am sure the 15L tank wont last too long feeding the 6x 1600cc injectors on the circuit.

need some info regarding my rear brake setup

Just after some information to see if it is worth upgrading the rear brake setup on a r32 gtr (non-brembo).

Currently have AP Racing CP5200 Fronts (4pot, 333 disc), App braided brake lines Front and Back, Std Master and nismo brake master stopper.

Have found a Brembo 4pot kit for the rear, runs a 330 disc (same disc as the v36). the Caliper is a brembo monobloc 4 piston uses the pads from a F40 Brembo (so i am assuming its similar to f40 or an f40 caliper), comes with std brembo pads, brackets and bolts

The Car is a track car. Will this upgrade upset the balance of the braking with such a large caliper on the rear (pretty much the same size as my front calipers).

im assuming that i will be able to run the std gtr master cylinder and it should handle it ok?

First question you have to ask yourself is what do you hope to achieve by upgrading the rears.

The only reason you would normally do this is if you are cooking your front and or rear brakes and you have gone for a front upgrade that uses larger piston area with a larger rotor up front giving you way more front bias. But you do this to try and get the thermal capacity up front not to cook brakes. So then you go and throw a bigger rotor up the rear with a caliper with suitable piston sizing

Also, this is the old setup off your R33? Did it work well on that? Because i suspect your AP front kit will work best with std rear sumitomo brakes. Do yourself a favour and stick with the std rear brakes. If your rotors are shagged then maybe replace them and throw some new pads in there....otherwise just leave them std

A) Will save you a packed of money. B) The car will 95% likely stop better with std brakes.

The AP brake setup you have runs smaller front pistons then the GTR 4 pot Brembos, meaning that effectively what AP do is increase braking torque by running a larger rotor, 330mm vs 296mm but in order not to make the car overly front biased they reduce the piston size. So with smaller pistons in your 4 pot caliper then even an R33 GTR Brembo caliper, it is my guess you are running less front brake bias then if you had R33 GTR calipers with 324mm rotor. Uou are basically not increasing front torqe by a significant amount, just increasing thermal capacity

Now those 4 pots have the same piston area as the std R32 GTR Sumitomo caliper. So with the same pistons sizes, you are not doing anything with regards to increasing brake torque with the caliper, but you are with the far larger rotor. SO you will probably end up with a tail happy car under brakes. And you are riskign this and spending uber cash for what purpose?

Unless you are boiling the fluid in the rear brakes, pads are getting too hot and going off etc etc then there is no need to upgrade the rears, The AP 4 pot front kit is best used with std rears in my opinion

Too many variables for me to be able to answer with any certainty mate, but IMO, you'll need at least 40 litres, especially if you'll run on E85.

Factory tanks aren't hard to find, aren't heavy, are easy to fill etc, but DO limit how epic the rear undertray can be..... IF you're going to run one.

Yes I was thinking of a 40l tank as well but have not been able to find one with a baffle that is suitable for e85.

Yeah. Mark's 34 has a 40l cell but still requires a surge tank. its a bit of a pain to fill, mainly due to all the wing support scaffold in the way, and it doesn't last long enough, especially when you just wanna do say a dozen 80% testing laps.

An 80l custom cell was built for Bathurst last year to allow a warm up, a couple/few flyers, and a cool down.... I'm still astounded how much juice these things use.... thankfully its on E85 now and not that big dollar Elf! lol

Ooo u brought that arc rad. Was watching that but I picked up a ARC 55mm side flow one for myself. The one I got retails for $2200 which is just stupid for a rad.

yeah :D couldn't past it up at the price it sold for :huh: Just need to pick up an ARC Air Removal Tank and im set for cooling

Now just to get a rear one will most likely have to buy it brand new which won't be cheap

I am running the ARC bars and I think I might go back to Whiteline. Will do some more testing but think the Whiteline whilst heavier actualy work better on my car

interested to see your results, everything i read about ARC bars were they were top quality stuff. Wasn't need on adjustable bars in the beginning but this was cheap so i through i give it a shot and see how it performed

I have to ask, have you done anything about an oil pump, the crank drive or replacing ther ceramic turbos??? That is the stuff i would be focussing on before getting too carried away with the labour to install all this other stuff?

engine is from a r33 gtr (50,000km), so has the uprate oil pump, and from what i read is good for the power im aiming for, if the engine comes out it will be placed with tomei pump. Engine is fresh and runs well.

turbos are r33 n1 so steel wheel.

    • The average previous owner for these cars were basically S-chassis owners in the US. Teenagers or teenager-adjacent. I often tell people that neglect is easier to fix than something that was actively "repaired" by previous owners.
    • Update 3: Hi all It's been a while. Quite a lot of things happened in the meantime, among other things the car is (almost) back together and ready to be started again. Things that I fixed or changed: Full turbo removal, fitting back the OEM turbo oil hardlines. Had to do quite a bit of research and parts shopping to get every last piece that I need and make it work with the GT2860 turbos, but it does work and is not hard to do. Proves that the previous owner(s) just did not want to. While I was there I set the preload for the wastegates to 0,9bar to hopefully make it easier for the tuner to hit the 370hp I need for the legal inspections that will follow later on. Boost can always go up if necessary. Fitted a AN10 line from the catch can to the intake hose to make the catchcan and hopefully the cam covers a slight vacuum to have less restrictive oil returns from the head and not have mud build up as harshly in the lines and catch can. Removed the entire front interior just shy of the dashboard itself to clean up some of the absolutely horrendous wiring, (hopefully) fix the bumpy tacho and put in LED bulbs while I was there. Also put in bulbs where there was none before, like the airbag one. I also used that chance to remove the LED rpm gauge on the steering column, which was also wired in absolute horror show fashion. Moved the 4in1 Prosport gauge from sitting in front of the OEM oil pressure gauge to the center console vents, I used a 3D printed vent piece to hold that gauge there. The HKB steering wheel boss was likely on incorrectly as I sometimes noticed the indicator reset being uneven for left vs. right. In the meantime also installed an airbag delete resistor, as one should. Installed Cube Speed premium short shifter. Feels pretty nice, hope it'll work great too when I actually get to drive. Also put on a fancy Dragon Ball shift knob, cause why not. My buddy was kind enough to weld the rust hole in the back, it was basically rusted through in the lowermost corner of the passenger side trunk area where the wheel arch, trunk panel and rear quarter all meet. Obviously there is still a lot of crustiness in various areas but as long as it's not rusted out I'll just treat and isolate the corrosion and pretend it's not there. Also had to put down a new ground wire for the rear subframe as the original one was BARELY there. Probably a bit controversial depending on who you ask about this... but I ended up just covering the crack in the side of the engine block, the one above the oil feed, with JB Weld. I used a generous amount and roughed up the whole area with a Dremel before, so I hope this will hold the coolant where it should be for the foreseeable future. Did a cam cover gasket job as the half moons were a bit leaky, and there too one could see the people who worked on this car before me were absolute tools. The same half moons were probably used like 3 times without even cleaning the old RTV off. Dremeled out the inside of the flange where the turbine housing mates onto the exhaust manifolds so the diameter matches, as the OEM exhaust manifolds are even narrower than the turbine housings as we all know. Even if this doesn't do much, I had them out anyways, so can't harm. Ideally one would port-match both the turbo and the manifold to the gasket size but I really didn't feel up to disassembling the turbine housings. Wrapped turbo outlet dumps in heat wrap band. Will do the frontpipe again as well as now the oil leak which promted me to tear apart half the engine in the first place is hopefully fixed. Fitted an ATI super damper to get rid of the worn old harmonic balancer. Surely one of the easiest and most worth to do mods. But torquing that ARP bolt to spec was a bitch without being able to lock the flywheel. Did some minor adjustments in the ECU tables to change some things I didn't like, like the launch control that was ALWAYS active. Treated rusty spots and surface corrosion on places I could get to and on many spots under the car, not pretty or ideal but good enough for now. Removed the N1 rear spats and the carbon surrounding for the tailpipe to put them back on with new adhesive as the old one was lifting in many spots, not pretty. Took out the passenger rear lamp housing... what do you know. Amateur work screwed me again here as they were glued in hard and removing it took a lot of force, so I broke one of the housing bolts off. And when removing the adhesive from the chassis the paint came right off too. Thankfully all the damaged area won't be visible later, but whoever did the very limited bodywork on this car needs to have their limbs chopped off piece by piece.   Quite a list if I do say so myself, but a lot of time was spent just discovering new shit that is wrong with the car and finding a solution or parts to fix it. My last problem that I now have the headache of dealing with is that the exhaust studs on the turbo outlets are M10x1.25 threaded, but the previous owner already put on regular M10 nuts so the threads are... weird. I only found this out the hard way. So now I will just try if I can in any way fit the front pipe regardless, if not I'll have to redo the studs with the turbos installed. Lesson learned for the future: Redo ALL studs you put your hands on, especially if they are old and the previous owners were inept maniacs. Thanks for reading if you did, will update when the engine runs again. Hope nothing breaks or leaks and I can do a test drive.
    • No those pads are DBA too  but they have colors too. I look at the and imo the green "street" are the best.
