Hi guys,

Looking at getting a car cover because I'll be moving eventually and leaving the car at home. No room for it in the city. Anyone have any suggestions? It'll be removed every now and then when I come home, and for track events, but other than that, I guess something that's got a fairly solid "skin", to stop water getting through when it rains?

Just 2 seconds on google, are Kenco any good? Saw one on the Supercrap website, $129.

Any other recommendations?

(thought of this after seeing Chubbs lol it up in a SAUVIC thread)

i use to work at supershitauto, years back, all i remember get one with a good inside, and make sure your car is clean, if you got a dirty car with anything over it in the wind and that shit will rub and scratch. cant really remember which was the best... but i do remember you get what you pay for

I had a autotechnica brand one for a few years. It was silver in colour was soft inside and had padding on top to protect it from falling sticks and hail. got it from Autobarn, its nice and thick and lasts for years. I tried another cover that was quite thin and it only lasted a month before i took it back for a refund, so i recomend getting something on the thick side.

Two seconds on Google, Owen:

CarCareProducts.com.au

and

CoverCraft.

(CoverCraft are pretty much 2mins from my house, so if you find something and order it, I can pick it up for you and save you the cost of shipping.)

I hit Google up and had heaps of sites; just figured some people here might have used some of them before and swore by them :(

Looks good man... If I end up getting one there, I'll let you know.

  • 2 weeks later...

One thing to keep in mind. Try and find one without any stitched seems running through the middle or anywhere but around the edges. Basically look for a one piece otherwise any seems will scratch the crap out of the paint any time it moves.

and just to be on a safer side... get an old blanket or quilt and put that on the car.. then wrap the cover around it... for teh extra sofffffffnessss and make sure it's tied properly... like ... really tight.. that is all.

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
