i see your point, but it was only then that there was space in front of me.and with being almost alongside another car, with the extra lane ending,i was doing the right thing.i shouldn't have to speed to allow someone with inconsistent driving to pass and cause more chaos.i think a good general rule is,if someone in front of you is doing nothing wrong, and breaking no laws, then it's not up to people to decide to risk accidents for a car length or two.sure, you can 'want' to pass, doesn't mean you have the right to fark people round because you're impatient.when i got caught behind a guy the other day doin 60 in an 80,yeah i was a bit peeved.and when i eventually passed him, without causing any trouble to anyone, and not speeding,i noticed that his texting while driving was causing his inability to keep with the traffic.is it my job to teach him a lesson?last time i checked i didn't carry a badge, nor gun.i agree that sometimes we are all unnessarily held up by someone who seems to have other things on their mind.and we are naturally going to be a bit pee'd off.but when there's a reason, that's when it's warranted.not just because you 'wanna be in front' that's just childish.

ahh yeah, that would apply to all drivers yeah??oh and the police have said directly to myself, that after 90kph,you can be in any lane you like.before 90,you must keep to the left unless overtaking.at odds with what r.a.c. said a few issues of horizons ago.which was opposite to what the the cops said.of course i'd go with what the cops said but weird for rac to get this wrong, specially as it was an answer to a readers question regarding said topic.all good.happy days

seams to change all the time, found this tho

regardless, even if it isnt always technically illegal your always supposed to keep left unless overtaking. if everyone followed that simple rule there'd be a hell of a lot less road rage on WA roads

To all my fellow Skyline brothers take care of your car as there will always be dick head commodore drivers on the road willing to challenge us, all we can do is make sure our engines are up for a challenge by modifying them, and smokin these guys at the lights and putting them to shame for choosing the wrong car.

I found that if I ignore them, they get tired of it (since bogans are not known to have long attention spans)& just zoom past & f**k off real quick...

Usually as they get in front they will pull some retarded shit in front of you (by locking up their wheels etc) to declare some race victory.

& every time they do that I secretly pray that they f**k it up & crash into a tree, but so far no luck yet.

Slightly off topic, but when the traffic book states that you must stop & render assistance to a car accident if you are the 1st one at the scene, does that mean you have to get out to help or can you just call the ambulance/police, wait in your car until they arrive at the scene?

Since if some bogan dick was trying to race me & he crashes, all I'm thinking of doing is call the cops/ambulance & when they arrive I will gladly tell them "that I'm only doing this because it is required by law & I couldn't care less if this douche dies or becomes a vegetable for life"

EDIT: actually scrap that, I do care if he ends up as a vegetable for life, that means my tax $$$ will goes towards keeping that douche alive... f**k that!

hey jonno, read the pdf, means the cops were wrong in what they were doing and what they said to me.i accused them of playing games behind me.they were frequently changing lanes behind me,trying to egg me on.plus i knew it was them as they had just pulled someone over earlier and i saw them on side of the road.silver xr6 turbo.they said they were allowed in that lane.i suppose it suited them to say whatever they liked to me.will remember that next time they play games.

i havnt read any of these posts yet.. just came across the topic.. had a quick glimps at the pics an sorry to see..

pretty unfortunate..

BUT

the tittle of this topic really grinds my gears..

should be tittled pharcking idiots on the road..

no matter what make of car you drive you will always come across someone who thinks they have the rite to tell you its a hunk of junk an some just take it too far..

but the battle between imports an v8's an holden an ford an shit is f**ken rediculous!!!

horsepower is horsepower no matter how it comes..

think of it this way.. decent people that drive skylines hate how people see us an judge us coz of the few dicks that also drive them.. same goes for holden, ford, toyyota, VOLVO for christ sake..

dick heads are just dick heads in general but stereo typing holden drivers is no different to people stereo typing us!!!

Sheeit ive been tailgated whilst driving (at the speed limit)in the left lane of a two lane road. . .and the other lane was empty, back in my younger days that happened once and i sped up a bit to put more distance tween me and the other car. . . on came the disco lights, farkn unmarked cop car! lesson learned so now i just ignore the tailgaters and lettem go around me

keep left unless overtaking (which is the law) and you wont have any troubles

ahh, yeah, late reply,i was overtaking.car in left lane was doing ten under the limit.they only got a move on when i was passing them, which is when commo driver decided he wanted some overtaking action aswell.no disrespect to commo drivers who don't fark with people.just a hint jonno,i been driving for almost 20 years and i know the laws, don't think that what you read on here is all the info available, its just all the info people are bothered to write.plus,i saw this guy again two weels after said incident.he weaved in and out of traffic, cutting off four or five cars, then just sat in front of them.all well and good to criticise, but if you aint there, you don't the full story.and i agree with above, wonkers come in all cars, you just gotta not be one yourself.

Well, you see sonny jimbo, back in my day(assume old man voice),they taught us punctuation...and stuff and shit.sorry jonno,oh son of rajab of the forum keyboard.thou who permeates every thread.your experience on the roads, and time behind a pc obviously supercedes mine,so go forth, and wreak havok on those who would disturb your keyboard kingdom.sire....

Well correct punctuation requires a space after said punctuation, so if ur gonna try and be a smart ass, get it right ur self, or u'll like a bigger dick then u already do

oh o,more interweb police.i love this.you get misinterpreted.then misjudged,by all these perfect people on the web.it's awesome that i'm only on here when my life doesn't get in the way.but hey,if you feel the need to gang up and do the pack mentality thing, then go right ahead.and i thought it was only the american forums that were like this...i was wrong.and the smartass thing?seems like more than one playing that game.more the merrier.:nyaanyaa:

Never had a run in while driving my skyline, but when I had my 180sx I had a couple of good ones.

First one was being tailgated on a single lane section of road. Guy was right up my ass, yelling and waving his hands trying to tell me to get out of the way. It was a 60 zone and I was doing a bit above that. Further ahead the road became double lanes and about 50m before then I caught up to the guy in front of me. I chose the right hand lane while the guy in front of me went in to the left. I dropped back so that I was sitting behind the the guy in the left lane, but not leaving enough room for the bogan commodore driver behind me to get past us. He pulled up and started abusing me, typical rubbish telling me to pull over to fight him etc. I grabbed a whole handful of silver coins out of my center console and hurled them at his car, downshifted and planted my foot on the accelerator.

Second occassion was on the freeway with four lanes of traffic. The three lanes on the left hand were going about 90 and I got into the furtherest right lane and was sitting on 110. I looked in my rear view mirror and watched this guy in a Jag come flying up from out of nowhere. He must have been doing over 150 because of how quick he came up behind me. Same stupid thing, honking, flashing his lights, yelling, waving his fists to get me to pull over. I ignored him and sat on 110 for about ten minutes. During that time he must have tried to get past me about half a dozen times, getting into the left lane and trying to get ahead. It never worked for him, he kept getting caught up in the traffic and ending up behind me again. Finally he got beside me and swerved at me a number of times, trying to run me off the road. Then he pulled in front of me and slammed on his brakes. I had already been slowing down to give myself some room from this looney luckily, so I stopped about 4m behind his car. Traffic in the other 3 lanes still going at 90 so I couldnt just switch lanes and take off. Then this guy gets out, some huge islander guy carrying a little metal bat. I was really running out of options as the guy approached me. There was a fairly wide shoulder on my right, enough to get a car down, but that's where this idiot was walking towards my car. I decided stuff it, if it was going to him or me, I'd rather it was him. I put my foot down on the accelerator, started feeding the clutch out and just hoping that he would get out of my way. The guy shit his pants and jumped onto his car to get out of the way as I came screaming past. I lost sight of him in the rear view as he was getting back in his car, never saw him again.

    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
    • Place the new daughterboard in the case and mount it using the 3 small black rivets provided, and reconnect the 3 factory ribbon cables to the new board Then, use the 3 piggyback cables from the daughterboard into the factory board on top (there are stand offs in the case to keep them apart. and remember to reconnect the antenna and rear cover fan wires. 1 screw to hold the motherboard in place. Before closing the case, make a hole in the sticker covering a hole in the case and run the cable for the android unit into the plug there. The video forgot this step, so did I, so will you probably. Then redo the 4 screws on back, 2 each top and bottom, 3 each side and put the 2 brackets back on.....all ready to go and not that tricky really.
    • Onto the android unit. You need to remove the top screen because there is a daughterboard to put inside the case. Each side vent pops out from clips; start at the bottom and carefully remove upwards (use a trim remover tool to avoid breaking anything). Then the lower screen and controls come out, 4 screws, a couple of clips (including 3 flimsy ones at the top) and 3 plugs on the rear. Then the upper screen, 4 screws and a bunch of plugs and she is out. From there, remove the mounting brackets (2 screws each), 4 screws on the rear, 2 screws top and bottom and 3 screws holding in the small plates on each side. When you remove the back cover (tight fit), watch out for the power cable for the fan, I removed it so I could put the back aside. The mainboard is held in by 1 screw in the middle, 1 aerial at the top and 3 ribbon cables. If you've ever done any laptop stuff the ribbon cables are OK to work with, just pop up the retainer and they slide out. If you are not familiar just grab a 12 year old from an iphone factory, they will know how it works The case should now look like this:
    • Switching the console was tricky. First there were 6 screws to remove, and also the little adapter loom and its screws had to come out. Also don't forget to remove the 2 screws holding the central locking receiver. Then there are 4 clips on either side....these were very tight in this case and needed careful persuading with a long flat screw driver....some force required but not enough to break them...this was probably the fiddliest part of the whole job. In my case I needed both the wiring loom and the central locking receiver module to swap across to the new one. That was it for the console, so "assembly is the reverse of disassembly"
    • But first....while I was there, I also swapped across the centre console box for the other style where the AV inputs don't intrude into the (very limited !) space.  Part# was 96926-4GA0A, 284H3-4GA0B, 284H3-4GA0A. (I've already swapped the top 12v socket for a USB bulkhead in this pic, it fit the hole without modification:) Comparison of the 2: Basically to do the console you need to remove the DS and PS side console trim (they slide up and back, held in by clips only) Then remove the back half of the console top trim with the cupholders, pops up, all clips again but be careful at the front as it is pretty flimsy. Then slide the shifter boot down, remove the spring clip, loose it forever somewhere in the car the pull the shift knob off. Remove the tiny plastic piece on DS near "P" and use something thin and long (most screwdrivers won't fit) to push down the interlock and put the shifter down in D for space. There is one screw at the front, then the shifter surround and ashtray lift up. There are 3 or 4 plugs underneath and it is off. Next is the rear cover of the centre console; you need to open the console lid, pop off the trim covering the lid hinge and undo the 2rd screw from the driver's side (the rest all need to come out later so you can do them all now and remove the lid) Then the rear cover unclips (6 clips), start at the top with a trim tool pulling backwards. Once it is off there are 2 screws facing rearwards to remove (need a short phillips for these) and you are done with the rear of the console. There are 4 plugs at the A/V box to unclip Then there are 2 screws at the front of the console, and 2 clips (pull up and back) and the console will come out.
