It's an RX6 on the Cyber isn't it ?

I wonder how they stack up.

Always been a killer turbo, search rx6 in SAU and im sure i will have a post or two in there... used them for years.

Nice, where did you find the speed info? Shame the car had hg issues, sounds like there was supposed to be a final ace up their sleeve.

There was live updates and news on the WTAC site, And my family was helping with the Coote's S13 that Earl Bamber was driving, So I was getting plenty of texts from Sydney.

There have been a few people making aluminum replacements. We've have them for awhile. We left the center with open an 1/8"NPT thread so you can add your preference of barbed nipple. (straight, 90º, 45º, etc) Cool addition. BorgWarner makes one as well, but it is a block off plate vs. replacement.

Yeah there have been some pretty excellent builds using them over the years, but I mean how they stack up against an equally rated EFR turbo ?

Its concerning that 8 months on from the point that they started leaking into the market the confirmed failure versus performance proof ratio of EFR turbos I've found is worse than the likes of XSPower etc. If this murmur of failures from the event proves any truth it'll be more like 50:50. The best results I've seen from them so far make them no more attractive to me than the Forced Performance HTA turbos, and at a higher price.

Its definitely bad enough that there is now no way I'd recommend them to anyone, price aside - unless there is eventually a convincing amount of good results over a period of time.

I hope people start having better luck!

hey guys, yeah obviously I can't share everything. we are 'testing' which means stuff happens.

anyway, lithium, neither advan/hi-octane RGM car had EFRs on for the weekend. we desperately wanted one on the R34 but ran out of time. we had a few problems (in fact a series of them!) like hold up in customs, run around with courier company etc and basically just ran out of time to do anything other than pinch a turbo off the R33 and stick it on the R34 (the 33 happened to have a T04Z on it). it was down on power compared to both the twin 2860 -10s and compared to the 9180 we had tested which was a shame but it still performed well. The R32 has been running 2860 -5s and we hadn't intended to run anything different. That car got very little development between last year and this year due to a few reasons mainly because everything was focussed heavily on the R34 development.

The R32 GTR entered by John Bright (BPG car) was running the twin EFR 6258s and ran well. He was only there on Saturday and a had a few small problems with the car (tyre problem, some suspension issues etc). To try and ensure reliability he ran the car with just 18-20psi (as opposed to the 25+ he'll eventually be running) but the car performed amazingly well considering. It's making more power than it did on the -10s and response is as good as the -5s. Please don't take this as gospel (my memory is full of figures right now) but it's currently making over 500hp atw on 20psi. John was put behind due to all the work involved in converting over to the EFR turbos and problems with supply etc (well documented and discussed in this thread) so didn't get to fit any of his aero gear, nor test the car etc so he put in a HUGE effort just to get there on the Saturday and compete. His tuner Phil (Armour Motorsport)and Mick at Corse Automotive also put in many late nights getting these things sorted. We also got some help from Brett Lloyd at GCG. Which was great as our problems had nothing to do with him.

Anyone who saw John's car coming down the straight would not have doubted that is has some good stonk. I took some time out to run down to the exit of Turn 1 and watch him powering out of T1 into T2 and he was very committed and the car looked quick and sounded awesome. It also looked very fast coming out of turn 2 and turn 3 which are slow-ish corner exits.

Once the current issues are sorted these turbos will be fantastic.

The Full Race BOV covers are nice too and not expensive. I'd recommend anyone using any type of EFR turbo get some as they make the turbo's look much nicer and eliminate any chance of snapping off the nipple. I like the one posted before too, looks very cool in bare alloy but I do prefer the design of the Full Race one as it doesn't have the nipple built on, it has a 1/8th thread cut instead so you can fit either a nipple or -AN fitting and means you can fit a 90degree fitting which is handy on the twin set-ups especially.

Anyway, still lots of work to do but things look good so far.

SSE were running their EFR 9180 and to the best of my knowledge they were the fastest car on the straight at something around 280km/h. There's no doubt the potential is there.

    • As far as I can tell I have everything properly set in the Haltech software for engine size, injector data, all sensors seem to be reporting proper numbers.  If I change any injector details it doesnt run right.    Changing the base map is having the biggest change in response, im not sure how people are saying it doesnt really matter.  I'm guessing under normal conditions the ECU is able to self adjust and keep everything smooth.   Right now my best performance is happening by lowering the base map just enough to where the ECU us doing short term cut of about 45% to reach the target Lambda of 14.7.  That way when I start putting load on it still has high enough fuel map to not be so lean.  After 2500 rpm I raised the base map to what would be really rich at no load, but still helps with the lean spots on load.  I figure I don't have much reason to be above 2500rpm with no load.  When watching other videos it seems their target is reached much faster than mine.  Mine takes forever to adjust and reach the target. My next few days will be spent making sure timing is good, it was running fine before doing the ECU and DBW swap, but want to verify.  I'll also probably swap in the new injectors I bought as well as a walbro 255 pump.
    • It would be different if the sealant hadn't started to peel up with gaps in the glue about ~6cm and bigger in some areas. I would much prefer not having to do the work take them off the car . However, the filler the owner put in the roof rack mount cavities has shrunk and begun to crack on the rail delete panels. I cant trust that to hold off moisture ingress especially where I live. Not only that but I have faded paint on as well as on either side of these panels, so they would need to come off to give the roofline a proper respray. My goal is to get in there and put a healthy amount of epoxy instead of panel filler/bog and potentially skin with carbon fiber. I have 2 spare rolls from an old motorcycle fairing project from a few years back and I think it'd be a nice touch on a black stag.  I've seen some threads where people replace their roof rack delete with a welded in sheet metal part. But has anyone re-worked the roof rails themselves? It seems like there is a lot of volume there to add in some threads and maybe a keyway for a quick(er) release roof rack system. Not afraid to mill something out if I have to. It would be cool to have a cross bar only setup. That way I can keep the sleek roofline that would accept a couple bolts to gain back that extra utility  3D print some snazzy covers to hide the threaded section to be thorough and keep things covered when not using the rack.
    • Probably not. A workshop grade scantool is my go to for proper Consult interrogation. Any workshop grade tool should do it. Just go to a workshop.
    • In my head it does make sense to be a fuel problem since that is what I touched when cleaning the system. When I was testing with the fuel pressure gauge, the pressure was constantly 2.5 bar with the FPR vacuum removed. When stalling, the pressure was going up to 3.0 bar (which is how it should be on ignition).
    • ECUtalk pages don't mention they support the ABS computer (consult port has more than one CAN), so you might just need a different scan tool. But, I would expect ABS is a different light to the brake warning/handbrake light, do you see an ABS light come on for a few seconds when you turn the key from ACC to IGN? But since you said: I'd have a look at the ABS sensors in the rear hubs to make sure they are not damaged, disconnected etc.
