Just (very briefly) drove mine with the revalved Bilsteins in the front: 1000000% improvement, but still a little work to do: bump stops still need to be replaced with slimmer items: the old ones were all but destroyed when the shock failed :)

Pretty impressed so far: hoping to have the car back mid next week, handling like it should (and used to)...

What are the offsets PetroDola?

Are they rolling or flaring the guards? The fronts are already "rolled" from the factory, the rears can be rolled.

Is yours a RS? let me know the offset and I can work out exactly how far out from the factory guards they will sit, or if they will foul the front control arm.

thats the width. It should be stamped somewhere on the back of the wheels hub or spokes. You may also have a sticker on the inside of the rim.

Should look something like 19 x 9.5J +35 etc. 19 being the rim diameter, 9.5J being the width and a + or - number being the offset. Looking at the pics of your rims you would have a positive offset on those, probably around +30 or more. If its higher than +35 you will need to run spacers on the front to clear the front control arm, if its lower than +30 you will need to roll your guards.

So basically it will be perfect at 9.5J + 35 to +30 and you wont have to do anything other than fit tyres!

You shouldnt have to roll anything, Just be careful on tyre size, a 245 or 255? should be sweet. If you go something too wide then they will scrub the guards.

but +30 will look sweet! cant wait to see pics when they are on.

Oh crap, dude... How bad? looks like the intercooler has had it, aside from the obvious panel damage.... :)

Made an executive decision to trade in the Alpine pre-boxed R-type subs I installed late last year, and permanently mould in the Alpine S-types I have sitting here into a sealed enclosure. I have no idea what I was thinking when I bought the R-types: ported subs are not my thing, but the ability to remove them for track-day antics was appealing.

Since I broke my back, track days are now off the table, so I may as well go with a SQ setup, which is what the rest of the audio system is geared towards... I figure using the subs I already have sitting here will save me a heap of money over the "buy a pair of X-type 12"s" option...

Very much hanging out to get the old girl back witht the front suspension sorted: a drive in a mate's '05 STi reminded me of how the barge should feel on the road, and I believe there is still a way to go...

achieved a bit for the weekend:

- fitted PIVOT speed meter and PIVOT shift lamp

- fitted red LEDs to the dash - now all interior lights are red

- sprayed rain gaurds gloss black and fitted up

- took back surface rust on rotors and sprayed them black with VHT caliper paint

- put on some hubcentric rings, has got rid of vibration at 100km/h

- used glassylite on the UV affected headlights (these things were shot, so yellow that i was trying to source replacements but this glassylite stuff has took them back to brand new - best 40 bucks i've spent on the car)

i have a list of 'to do' stuff, so it's getting shorter each weekend - but the more time i spend in and around the car, the more i find! its tough being OCD!!!

fitted my sub on the weekend, good to have a ballenced stereo once again, just need to fiddle with the settings some more

edit, also painted the rear brakes in 3m blue caliper paint (same as the fronts) and fitted them

should have my speed bleeders soon and hopefully a firm pedal all the time soon after that :(

Picked mine up again prematurely (so it's still got a bit of suspension work to do), because I managed to trash the front bar on the beemer yesterday: I mean, who thought it was a good idea to put boulders on each side of their driveway, right at the gutter end, where they're impossible to see?!

the trick is the 'nano sealant' - but just be careful with your quanitities, they give you SFA in the kit, so you need to make it all last.

hey mate i'd be interested to see ur sub setup, i did some measuring today and was left scratching my head.....

This is the current setup, but as stated, is subject to change completely in the near future...

    • For once a good news  It needed to be adjusted by that one nut and it is ok  At least something was easy But thank you very much for help. But a small issue is now(gearbox) that when the car is stationary you can hear "clinking" from gearbox so some of the bearing is 100% not that happy... It goes away once you push clutch so it is 100% gearbox. Just if you know...what that bearing could be? It sounding like "spun bearing" but it is louder.
    • Yeah, that's fine**. But the numbers you came up with are just wrong. Try it for yourself. Put in any voltage from the possible range and see what result you get. You get nonsense. ** When I say "fine", I mean, it's still shit. The very simple linear formula (slope & intercept) is shit for a sensor with a non-linear response. This is the curve, from your data above. Look at the CURVE! It's only really linear between about 30 and 90 °C. And if you used only that range to define a curve, it would be great. But you would go more and more wrong as you went to higher temps. And that is why the slope & intercept found when you use 50 and 150 as the end points is so bad halfway between those points. The real curve is a long way below the linear curve which just zips straight between the end points, like this one. You could probably use the same slope and a lower intercept, to move that straight line down, and spread the error out. But you would 5-10°C off in a lot of places. You'd need to say what temperature range you really wanted to be most right - say, 100 to 130, and plop the line closest to teh real curve in that region, which would make it quite wrong down at the lower temperatures. Let me just say that HPTuners are not being realistic in only allowing for a simple linear curve. 
    • I feel I should re-iterate. The above picture is the only option available in the software and the blurb from HP Tuners I quoted earlier is the only way to add data to it and that's the description they offer as to how to figure it out. The only fields available is the blank box after (Input/ ) and the box right before = Output. Those are the only numbers that can be entered.
    • No, your formula is arse backwards. Mine is totally different to yours, and is the one I said was bang on at 50 and 150. I'll put your data into Excel (actually it already is, chart it and fit a linear fit to it, aiming to make it evenly wrong across the whole span. But not now. Other things to do first.
    • God damnit. The only option I actually have in the software is the one that is screenshotted. I am glad that I at least got it right... for those two points. Would it actually change anything if I chose/used 80C and 120C as the two points instead? My brain wants to imagine the formula put into HPtuners would be the same equation, otherwise none of this makes sense to me, unless: 1) The formula you put into VCM Scanner/HPTuners is always linear 2) The two points/input pairs are only arbitrary to choose (as the documentation implies) IF the actual scaling of the sensor is linear. then 3) If the scaling is not linear, the two points you choose matter a great deal, because the formula will draw a line between those two points only.
