I think its just me, but if you have the "gay" facia that isnt 2din, and the panasonic blue door speakers, i wouldnt change them. anything without an amp aftermarket wont sound any good - unless you upgrade to the bose factory system. stock speakers are actually really good!

Oh, he jelly!

I'm actually happy with the standard stuff. Upgrading speakers will be one of the last things I do, and I'll get some decent splits and an amp.

The standard system has splits anyway, unless mine got upgraded in Japan?

standard has splits.

i even went to the extent of buying new speakers, but just never bothered as i was never unhappy with the stock ones.

Is that those Maestro ones you were trying to shift for ages?

Also, where is everyone today? Either they've all got scared off by the aggro full moon stuff that's been going on lately, or people are actually busy at work! Oh no!

Normally a hive of activity during the day.

yeh i got rid of them eventually. its hard to find sellers for speakers as everyone is usually customed to their own brands. I dont think German Maestro is a well known brand, but those who know it, know they are one of the best brands out there. all about upselling lol

your sort of right, but you have names mixed up.

MB Quart - old stuff, hand made in germany. blue prints where then sold to German Maestro. MBQuart company was then taken over by china, and went to shit. MBQuart older stuff is really good, newer stuff is poor.

German Mestro are using the original mbquart bluprint(the good ones) and are producing them. which are good. there was never a bad German Maestro. but you will find some people with biased opinions as there are different brands that are preffered by different people.

the entry level GM stuff i think may get their parts from china. but why would you want entry level

/csb

hey are you saying i should keep the standard deck and speakers or just the speakers, the problem i have is that the original deck cd player isnt working and yes it is the single din system with splits in the front i dont really want the bose system too much to change.

and ill be happy if you think the standard is good enough i am quite happy with the sound or will i loose that if i change the deck i know they do match the speakers to the deck when they do the initial set up in newer cars.:whistling:

I had a mini disc player in mine, upgraded to a dvd player and left the standard speakers, pretty happy with the end result.

Do you have the TV screen?

you will loose quality if you dont upgrade WITH Amps. my thought anyway. my cd player doesnt work well either, i ended up getting the ipod connection kit and it works fine. all the speakers lol.

my opinion, it was the best $150 i spent. used every time i drive.

You mean if you upgrade speakers and deck?

Mine sounds fine with standard speakers and Clarion deck.

    • Hi all, Restoring r33 series 1 rb25det. All the heater hoses were on their way out, have replaced them and put it all back together. After testing I noticed a small leak from behind the head on the actual metal water line to the turbo when cars warm. I tried running a longer hose over it but it kept leaking...   I am about to take the (stock) manifold off again😔 to change the water line does any one have any lines they recommend? I was looking at Aeroflow Turbo Oil & Water Line Set but not sure what everyone else recommends. Car is completely stock but want to upgrade turbo eventually. it looks like ill have to disconnect a lot just to replace these lines so if there's anything else recommended to do please let me know. Thank you in advance!
    • From memory, on the R33 GTSt at least, while everyone says "It's not adjustable", I found when I changed clutches in mine, it just needed a small adjustment on the rod length. But be very wary here, as you could end up trying to push the pushrod in the master too far, or blowing out the slave.   Most likely though, if the master/slave isn't bypassing internally or leaking out, then the throw out is the wrong height compared to the fingers on the clutch, so when it moves to disengage the clutch, it isn't 100% disengaged. You can check part of this out too by jacking the car up, having the engine running, put your foot on the clutch and try to engage 1st gear. If it goes in pretty easy (Compared to the ground) and/or the wheels start turning a fair bit and it takes a bit too much brake pedal to bring them back to a stop, this is likely the issue.  I'm not sure if you can adjust the height of the forks etc in these though, it's been that long since I've touched any RB gearbox.
    • That's all good, I thought I was missing some interesting feature! Maybe @PranK can double check if that is something that is meant to be operating or not.
    • I hope that is not something that bad. From what i remember he said that only first gear is "hard" to get in and that he has couple of ideas what to try next but idk 😕  hope it is not gearbox out. I will let you know.
    • If it's not the hydraulics, it is probably gearbox back out. Usually as per @Duncan's post, or otherwise associated with not getting the throwout fork positioned correctly. All the way up to catastrophically bolting shit back together without it being aligned properly and wrecking the clutch/input shaft/flywheel/something else.
