I want to fit cam gears, but my tuner tells me that my gtr has almost maxed out the standard injectors, how? she only has a humble 208awkw?

If that's the case, will a fuel reg fix it? Which one, does it have to be adjustable?

Is using a reg a bandaid fix for maxed out injectors? How?

R33 gtr, power fc, pod filters and 14.5psi

That doesn't sound.right.. my standard ones are at 270kw.and they still have a bit to give... either get yr injecters checked out or get a better tuner buddy

Check your base fuel pressure first to see if it is where it should be; I am not 100% what it is from standard so don't want to give you a bum steer. There should be much more duty left at that power.

well it adds up if your saying your injectors are near maxing out running on 14.5psi but you should be making far more than 208awkw at that boost

im running that exact same boost on -7 turbos (stock size), car is making 260-270awkw and my stock injectors are at 90% tops

his dyno must be just reading really low, f**k.. 60-70kw lower? thats redicilous

Its actually not far off the mark for a car without cam gears dialed in, and of course dependant on other mods. Remember every car/engine is different and the stock engines are getting on a bit now.

How about comparing apples with apples here so as not to confuse the thread starter? Hard to compare a car with bigger turbos and ~270awkw to one with standard turbos and no cam gears. As you stated, there are plenty of dynos that read lower than others.

Back to the original query though, I would be checking your fuel pressure and most likely replacing your fuel pump as others have suggested.

Agree most likely to be fuel pump dying, but don't forget to change the filter and check the vacuum/boost signal to the regulator.

Remember when checking the voltage at the fuel pump that the control module does not supply the full 14v at idle. IIRC its about 9v. I dont know when it switches to full power tho.

He said standard gtr injectors max out on his dyno at 220awkw

I will say his dyno is prety shy, my car on another dyno (IS motoring) was reading 27 kw more

So that would take my car to 230awkw or so. Maybe the injectors would max at that hp?

Duty cycle reached 88%

Everyone dyno is "shy" mate, it's the new black.

Either way, at that power level 88% duty means there is something wrong.

Although - you said they were maxed, yet now its 88%, that is not maxed.

88% is safetly maxed

Anyway, I got my money back from the tuner today :D

It's booked in at crd tommorow..

We'll see what they say

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
