It's a GTS-T? F*** I thought it was a GTR because of the price! Lucky to get half, and that's not saying it's a shit car or anything, because it is quite nice...but that's just nowhere near what these cars are going for. I want to sell my car but it has some hail damage and it wouldn't even worth selling, so it stays with me.

I remember when I was 16 and these things were 17/18k for the cheap, high km examples :P

The price is about double what it will probably sell for.

A good rough estimate for pricing is cost of a standard car plus 50% of the cost of mods (parts only no labour) with most likely having to drop down to 30% of the value of the mods in the current slow market to get a sale.

After looking at the description, mods and pictures I believe I could build a R33 to similar spec including body work, high performance built engine, sound systems and suspension for considerably less than your asking price and you have pretty much said this yourself "i'm half/half about selling" AKA you are dreaming.

id like to see you try that, as frankly, it'll never happen.

just in gearbox and motor there is well over 15k. add another 20k for purchase price + body work/wheels & other expenditures and you are at 35k, that's without anything else.

so the car i can assure you has over 40k, doesn't mean its worth that, but also doesn't mean you'll replicate the setup for 'considerably less' - that is a pipe dream.

hey mate. fkn wicked car and results but unfortunatly to say you will never get back what you put into it. unless you were to revert the car back to standard and sell off the parts or sell it as a complete "bolt on" package"

you might get lucky and find someone who might buy it but the chances are very slim.

GTST/GTT Skylines dont hold much of their value i bought my car for 16k 3 years ago and now people can get them as cheap as 10k

goodluck with the sale never the less. the engine bay looks very tidy.

Strip for parts is defiantly your best bet then sell the car moderately stock or as close as possible. Its a long process but you'll see more $$$ then selling as is.

Unfortunately not many modded cars sell these days :P

This is a GTST are you thinking this is a GTR?

I didn't see any mention of there being a non original gear box and the 2.5lt indicates it is a rebuilt RB25. Please correct me if I am wrong?

- Get rid of the stickers on the dash & exterior (and the big tacho). Just makes it a bit more subtle. Some people love it, but most realistically don’t.

- Rear of the car with rim choice/ride height kinda doesn’t fit right? (could just be my eyes?). Needs thinner profile on the rear and drop it a good 30-40mm and take some pic’s. Front might need to drop 20mm also.

The other issue is yours is a EPA waiting to happen. This is something a lot of Vic buyers that this car requires - will be conscious off, hence interstate people would be more likely. Finding interstate buyers takes considerably longer at times though :P

+1

And the sort of people who want a car with monster tacho's and stickers are either too young and arnt allowed to drive it or dont have that sort of money, after all they can pick up a vt for 3g off there cousin, buy a monster tacho and stickers off ebay, put stockies on the back punched onto the bump stops and they have a full sic weapon.

Did you even read the ad? First thing listed under suspension/drivetrain = OS Giken 1-5 gearset.

Kev, love the car, i hope you keep it! (I was the guy who bought your bilsteins off you)

It has a OS gearset, around 6-7k installed and thats on a good exchange rate day. The FS ad has all the specs, and a long list it is.

So I'm not thinking of a GTR, im 100% aware of what the car is (GTS-t) :P

It would be a solid 45-50k round trip to replicate that setup and that is with some heavy shopping around.

Hence the only way to sell, part it out. Just about every single person I've known with a 300rwkw or more skyline has parted and sold the car near stock.

Most come out at least 5k infront, some as much as 10-12k :)

Heya Ric yer i noticed you ended up reselling the Bilisteins again not too long ago.

Tbh after just the obvious mods like gearbox ($5.800), brakes ($7.500) GTR or not these parts do cost a fair bit and months of two minute noodles to save for so i really dont see how you can replicate something similar for under 30k. Just getting the block prepped set me back 2.5k (unless i got ripped :S) but yer the more i read the comments the more i want to keep it because as most of you said it's just not worth selling. I'm just going to lie to the missus and say im "actively" trying to sell it haha

btw its sitting so high up because the cops were hassling me for height so i jacked it up to 120mm from lowest point that way they cant say anything even if they tried. Funny though they defected me for one bald tyre, tail light globe and height without mention of anything wrong inside the engine bay.

My appologeis I missed the gearset which are as you say not cheap and accounts roughly for the difference in I saw when I did the basic math as to the cost to build.

I also agree with parting out highly modified cars and as you say many people end up in front by a considerable amount.

How come your missus wants you to sell? it's a gorgeous car, and future daddy's don't have to be boring. I'm sure any kid would love to get dropped off to school in that :)

I'm sure if you tell your missus you want to keep it and explain I'm sure she'll agree to keeping it. She's probably just sick of your uncertainty and complacency about it. In the end most women just want to see their partner's happy.

I really hope you keep it, shame to see it sold.

To anyone else it's just going to be a car they brought, they aren't going to see the blood sweat and tears you do.

Not sure on how your offers are going at 38k, but if you really wanted to keep it just keep it at $38000 and let your missus see the add and let it stay on carsales forever. If she gets angry lower it $1000 to keep her happy :) and repeat the $500-1000 drops untill she agrees that its too hard to sell for a good price.

I wish my dad had a skyline when I was in school, Instead I got picked up in an old piece of crap 1989 tarago with him playing loud horse racing from sports 92.7AM :)

Because lets face it - most guys are pussy whipped :whistling:

LOL that is pretty much it man as much as i'd hate to admit.

You're spot on about her being sick of my uncertainty about it all too.

lol@ sell the missus and keep the car :)

i reckon you could get close to the 30's.

considering what mine went for and there was another 34 that went for 28k just the other week (fairly big build, but not as big as yours and no big brakes either, 1998), definitely people around who want a car that has been sorted properly, and yours is way beyond what mine was - i know they are 34's, but it's only a couple years difference but your build is far beyond either of the ones i've mentioned - i reckon you could get a buyer for maybe flat/ low 30's.

if she hasn't gone by the end of summer, then you'll probably have to look at price - maybe drop to $35k, leave it be for summer and see how you go :whistling:

    • For these last 7 years of ownership, I've always had to use a small scissor jack under one of the front tow hooks to raise the front just enough so my low-profile jack fits under to reach my subframe jack point. I'm beginning to get annoyed of always having to do this. Are there any lower low-profile jacks that fit under the gtr lip on a dropped car?
    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
