will be heading down this year. interested to know about accomodation Noel and anyone else with info.

also would love to be able to get on the track before the event to get my head around it. any opportunities on the week of superlap?

Yeah, we're staying at the Chiefly again.

Price is on par, is the closest, and is quite new and clean.

Rooms are typically small though, but it doesn't matter too much if you can hold your own in a viscous knife fight when it comes to bed allocation when the door is first flung open.

I typically like to avoid the knife fight, and just wee on a bed from a distance (or have a bladder bomb neatly concealed that can be thrown at the bed from a distance). It's usually mine for the weekend then.

Another bonus is, when the wind blows the right way, you can smell the dump.

I have some experience in dodgy Miami hotels run by hispanics with bullet holes in the walls and requests for cash payments so the Chiefly sounds like a palace.

The bar sounds convenient, I might try pretending to get plastered before the event so I have the necesary excuses for slow times.

I share info no probs. Garrett GTRS 320hp each, with new stainless Tial V band quick release turbine housing and new Turbo Smart Compact external gates. New VQ30 motor 105kg lighter and should make an efficient max 400rkw with stock motor, dry sump with strong valve springs. So we won't be pushing it too hard, but then we won't need to as much.

See below for more.

yeah it's neat and clean but nothing flash, but you are in the western subburbds of sydney after all so given it's surroundings it might be mistaken as the taj mahal. bar is good, but not exactly cheap (are any hotel bars?). bottle shop nearby though...

you can also go for a short walk and see some "lady's" of the night..... although you might be scared/sick for life and things might drop off afterwards.

What we found last year was ideal for our situ. It was conference style accomodation with motel rooms surrounding common entertainment

, meeting, and BBQ areas. It was great for socialising, drinking, bullshitting etc.

Will definitely be there again this year.

Drinking and bullshitting around a bbq sounds like the go. I'll be at the chifley with a bunch of guys too.

lol. I do not recommend sampling the local "culture" unless you actually WANT to have your dick fall off or conversely lose your "other" virginity (marlin is the exception he lost his a looooong time ago). keep off the great western highway after dark! and if you're driving a long it and see someone on the side of the road for gods sake don't slow down, they can pounce on slow moving cars.

Baron's right..... take a Tenga Egg of your choice, it's in keeping with the japanese theme too. make the right choice and there'll be no need to go outside your room after dark........ it's dangerous out there!

    • My idle is set at 950rpm though - Moving the timing around 20 degrees is not really what I'd call a calm idle. That said... neither is chop, by definition. The LS ECU likes to adjust timing to hold idle as opposed to air. It'd work, but generally speaking there'd be a discrepancy in the base idle and the IACV would want to move the timing around anyway to maintain said idle. I think I'm just going to keep the timing steady anyway. Preserve my engine mounts.  My aircon is now officially regassed. As the guy was reversing I noticed my reverse lights do not operate, along with my reverse cam. This is a bit distressing, because 100% of guides talk about which wire to connect to backup cams as "the goes with the [other color] wire". Often when doing conversions. Unfortunately the R34 colour wires aren't documented Unfortunately I had a T56 Magnum gearbox with it's reverse switch, which also isn't documented. Unfortunately there's definitely not documentation for people with both of these in the one car. Unfortunately I forgot. After many hours of this, I have a reverse cam and reverse lights again. The wire going through the trans tunnel to the reverse switch had broken. Upon inspection, it looks like this one wire had about 7 spade terminals and extensions in it.. for reasons I cannot possibly comprehend. I also spent the 750 hours required to clean up the wiring behind my head unit which now looks like this: This is a monumental improvement relative to what used to be there WRT triple gauges, head unit, traction control, wideband controller, and whatever the f**k OEM stuff still exists there in various states of connectivity/needed. Next step is to check in at the Exhaust shop to see/confirm how much clearance I have, to decide what mid mufflers or 'resonators' (which are just straight through, narrower mufflers) I can add and hopefully cut out a lot of exhaust leaks, pinhole, v-band or otherwise. But first step will be to 'take a look' before the next step.
    • Fark the AFM card and Nistune, Haltech Nexus S3, DBW, cruise control, flex fuel, dis dat.
    • It's most likely the bolt/bush where the cover bolts back wore and allowed cover to move forward.
    • Still haven't put the injectors and R35 AFM in so we can tune the bloody thing for the HG highflow it got mid last year! I think I can forecast the upgrade path to a bigger twin scroll, external gate, Haltech, flex setup, Samsonas, dis dat, etc will be .... a while away!
    • Should have taken that opportunity to slot in a twin scroll turbo setup. Maybe next time.
