I didn't wanna start a thread just to ask this question, so i'll chuck it in here :)

I've got a GT3076 56T with a 0.82 housing and a 50mm external gate, currently 249kw at 1.1bar.

When I eventually get my rb25 engine rebuild, how much power do you think i could get out of this turbo, and what sort of boost would i have to run?

I've seen a few people getting 300kw on 98 fuel and 325kw on e85... is that about what i can expect? Or is higher possible?

higher is possible on E85 (330-360) and expect 300-330 on 98 boost will be over 20psi.

The EFR series from BW also has good results too compared directly to Garrett and are the same pricing near enough. Only issue being a totally different flange pattern which makes choosing a BW turbo very expensive and committal as if you don't like it - its not just changing turbo, its the entire hot-side.

Pretty far from the truth, the efr's are ~1k more than a standard garrett. And a different dump flange does not equal the entire hot side. FWIW the old journal bearing bw's matched the garrett ball bearing for response and power in back to back testing by full race.

Yes, full race DO seem to have quite the relationship with BW.. Dont they?

From memory the press release by BW made note of testing done by fullrace for the product.

There is plenty of independent testing around the place showing pretty tight comparison between Borg Warner and Garrett GT-BB equivalents, sometimes Garretts can come out strong and sometimes the Borgs can. I am saluting one of the American Subaru tuners who has doing a completely straight up non-biased comparison between GT3076R, GTX3076R and EFR7670 turbos on exactly the same car. The GTX3076R was a little laggier than the GT3076R but made more power, the EFR7670 is yet to be dyno tested but apparently feels very good on the road in terms of boost recovery etc.

If they have not - you need to change manifold or get adaptor plates made if you want to go bigger OR smaller in the rear housing size far as i understand it.

At least if you don't like the Garrett (or other turbo options, parts etc), you can just sell em and there are plenty of people ready to buy, hence what i mean by commital which sorta has more than just an obvious cost if you cant then go and resell if it doesnt work out :)

Isn't Simon running ethanol and an ass load of boost? Not sure what the deal is with that 3076 in terms of boost and fuel, but i dare say there are some points of difference between the two setups

The graph of the 3076R is running the same type of fuel E42 and a few psi less boost BUT he has Tomei poncams where mine are stock. It actually was down a little on power (due to timing issue) and should have made closer to 455rwhp on the day. On the same hub dyno it makes around 500rwhp where mine makes 520rwhp

Hard to say when you don't have a full mod list and boost level/fuel type taken into consideration. I suspect the Kando is running more boost as at 130kph (well before the GT3076R would be choking) the Kando turbo is making more power. At 110kph the GT3076R has 60whp more...

No doubt the Garrett comes on a little earlier, on the road he gets the equivalent boost at around 200rpm earlier in 4th gear... The flip side to the coin is mine holds power past 200km/hr while his turns over around 180km/hr

I believe E85 was used.

No doubt he will see this and confirm as I'm certain but not 100% confident.

But what you do NOT see on a dyno sheet, is how a turbo transitions up onto boost and so on.

I once had a 500-550hp T04E/T3 hybrid thing. I put on a GT30 - both at that point running 12psi and making around 220rwkw. The power delivery didn't look "overtly" different on a dyno sheet however on the street it was very noticeable in between gears and so on.

Ah indeed, it is such a tough decision at times as there is much for and much against.

Once again both were on same fuel, E42...

I can tell you both cars on the road are very nice to drive, even on the tightest turns at a motorkhana type event you would not really have any complaints about lag.

If people want a honest opinion on the 2 just ask :)

The Kando T67 is a slightly bigger turbo that makes more power top end and more power for longer while the Garrett GT3076R comes on boost sooner and hence has better mid range...

The GT3076R used to be my turbo pick for a RB25, the reason the other one car has one is because I convinced him it was the best turbo for the job. I was a jew so I bought a Kando T67 and saved myself about $1000 over the Garrett and was very impressed by the results.

They both have positives and negatives, I would call them a draw haha

Mind you I have seen a graph of a Trust T67 and it looked more impressive than both of them haha

    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
    • Place the new daughterboard in the case and mount it using the 3 small black rivets provided, and reconnect the 3 factory ribbon cables to the new board Then, use the 3 piggyback cables from the daughterboard into the factory board on top (there are stand offs in the case to keep them apart. and remember to reconnect the antenna and rear cover fan wires. 1 screw to hold the motherboard in place. Before closing the case, make a hole in the sticker covering a hole in the case and run the cable for the android unit into the plug there. The video forgot this step, so did I, so will you probably. Then redo the 4 screws on back, 2 each top and bottom, 3 each side and put the 2 brackets back on.....all ready to go and not that tricky really.      
    • Onto the android unit. You need to remove the top screen because there is a daughterboard to put inside the case. Each side vent pops out from clips; start at the bottom and carefully remove upwards (use a trim remover tool to avoid breaking anything). Then the lower screen and controls come out, 4 screws, a couple of clips (including 3 flimsy ones at the top) and 3 plugs on the rear. Then the upper screen, 4 screws and a bunch of plugs and she is out. From there, remove the mounting brackets (2 screws each), 4 screws on the rear, 2 screws top and bottom and 3 screws holding in the small plates on each side. When you remove the back cover (tight fit), watch out for the power cable for the fan, I removed it so I could put the back aside. The mainboard is held in by 1 screw in the middle, 1 aerial at the top and 3 ribbon cables. If you've ever done any laptop stuff the ribbon cables are OK to work with, just pop up the retainer and they slide out. If you are not familiar just grab a 12 year old from an iphone factory, they will know how it works The case should now look like this:
    • Switching the console was tricky. First there were 6 screws to remove, and also the little adapter loom and its screws had to come out. Also don't forget to remove the 2 screws holding the central locking receiver. Then there are 4 clips on either side....these were very tight in this case and needed careful persuading with a long flat screw driver....some force required but not enough to break them...this was probably the fiddliest part of the whole job. In my case I needed both the wiring loom and the central locking receiver module to swap across to the new one. That was it for the console, so "assembly is the reverse of disassembly"
