They could make this go even faster but that would tarnish other 'respected' brands too much.

yep they could, but that'd have more to do with being able to hype and sell another facelift a further 2 years down the track with 550hp

incremental changes and minor power-ups is what keeps the continual sales alive for performance cars

Well, the R36 is coming out in 2013. So not a lot of time for updates of the R35. Or at least I hope since I just upgraded from a series I to a series III. I'll really look like I got raped if they come out with a series IV next year.

But in all seriousness, I think I'm pretty safe. The series III is doing 0-100 in 3.0 seconds, 0.5 slower than a Veyron. Unless the R36 will be faster than a Veyron (please do that, i'd gladly suffer a series IV if that's the case), what performance upgrade are you going to do so that it's faster than a series III but slower than a R36?

you wont get 0-100 in 3.0 in Australia mate

maybe mid 3s if you're lucky in absolute ideal conditions

i was contemplating trading my 2010 for a 2011, but would rather update when they change the actual design so it looks at least different from behind the wheel

dont get too caught up in the hp figures, as most know, 1k later and a cobb will net you more power than the 2011 anyway, let alone the ubiquitous y-pipe and/or mufflers we all add straight away

Yeah right...

I just realised the R35 GTR was released in 2007, so the R35 would have had a decent run of about 5 - 6 years (give or take a few months) :)

2012 model R35 GTR sounds promising to match up to Veyron and or Zonda times.

not too fussed about the performance, as most know, 1k later and a cobb will net you more power than the 2011 anyway

Ideal conditions and would AUS Petrol be as good as Japans?

Speaking of which. Where in Australia is the best place for a cobb tune and possible other add on goodies? Willall? I'm thinking akrapovic with cobb tune.

ps I'm with you on the visual incentive to upgrade.

^^ Seems like a smart marketing idea...

Every few years, just up the HP, little updates here and there.

Careful mate, you're fringing on complimenting HSV execs there :)

yep apple's being doing that for years with the iphone etc.

In regards to the gtr...... one day..... one day i will own one

Willall mate.

I've run their tune for DOZENS OF TRACK DAYS and never had an issue. Martin is a track centric tuner.

worked with the 350z, don't see how this would be any different

Yeah, that's what I meant and it works.

The "marketing tool" is what keeping the consumers open to opportunities of owning a faster R35 GTR then before and will go for it.

    • If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.
    • Lock me in mate, although I'm not sure if I'll be heading up from Goulburn or down from Sydney, either way, return will be back to Goulburn
    • Sounds good, we will aim to be there! @The Bogan I'll give you a shout if you are heading up to campbelltown for the meet too.
    • Before I get to the test day, just to finish off the android head unit. This is a demo from car start up....the standard/host system takes a few seconds to boot (same as all v37) but Android comes up quickly. In this vid I'm using the delivered launcher but have set the default to Agami since which is easier to navigate when if use primarily 5 apps. You can see the host system still takes over when required eg putting it in reverse, and you can switch between Android and not by holding the back button 3 sec. It is pretty responsive (fast) but you can see I had to press harder than expected a couple of times.  I still have the phone connected to the stock system, and that also seamlessly takes over Android music playing. v37-android-demo.mp4 The bigger reason that I put this in though is so that I can use Ecutek directly on the head unit. That gives me a dash with logging (up to 20MB only), high and low value warnings on any parameter etc etc. I've run a USB cable from the Ecutek OBD dongle to a USB input on the unit, easy. v37-ecutek-demo.mp4   The unit did freeze on the launcher the other day, I think Agami was trying to verify the license when it didn't have a data connection...will monitor and report back if there are any other problems but so far I'm very happy with the upgrade.
    • Nah that is just crappy GPS mapping, I did have a small excursion (cold tyres, damp track, surprise!), will post up that when I get a chance.
