M35 Water Leak

i was basing my suggestion on this.. thought iaiaiaiaain was arguing saying he knows (otherwise)best lol

i still reckon theyre maybe a hole in your floor.. all it needs is a crack.. once its moist it will hold water and attract more...

the only other thing you can do is start pulling it apart to find a source...

Thing is, if it was a crack in the floor; it wouldn't stay there afterwards, it'd leak back out.

Great...and if there is, does it make my car unroadworthy?

If it is a crack; you drill the ends of the crack to stop it propagating any further, then get it welded up. I don't believe that this is the problem.

Remove all the trim you can from the floor area, then start hosing the bejesus out of one individual area at a time; then check for water ingress before hosing the next suspect area. It's the only way.

Didnt Iain and Leon both said the rear washer pipe is under the driver's side?

Yep, we both did Maybe it's a case of 'no picture didn't happen' ???

So I pulled off the kick panel & pulled back the carpet & in 30 seconds had this:

That's not to say one of the Nissan guys who put your car together got up on the wrong side of the bed that morning and yours is on the other side. But I doubt it.

Bugger, look how slow I was scaling the pic. Everyone's moved on...

To check the air con drain pipe, the first question is do you get a puddle of water behind the passenger side front wheel when you park after using the air con. This is the normal thing.

The drain comes down just behind the passenger wheel. see if you can find the drain line and see if water is coming out. You could try puttting a wire back up the pipe to see if you can clear any blockage but I can not see why it would have a blockage. I think a split line is more likely.

In side the car you will need to remove the glove box and then you have access to the aircon unit. I have not seen the drain line but it is in behind the unit so it should be reasonable easy to find. Iain has pulled this part out so he may have some feed back.

most of the water seems to be held on the floor at the corner of the middle "bump" the D-shaft runs under and the passanger... its like its dripping water from the "bump" and being held at the bottom of the floor.

which is why i suggested a crack. even a stone can chip it if flicks up hard enough..

Yeah ok Aaron; I just think a crack in the floor is an absolute worst case scenario.

I'd be looking elsewhere first. If a stone flicked up; cracks the floor of any car I own; I won't own it for long...

just an example bud. who knows if the gas joint tried jacking the car(for whatever reason) and jacked the wrong point tearing a join seal? I know its unlikely but i wouldnt rule it out. they did manage to drill an extra hole in the fuel filler part as he mentioned..

ok its not a crack. under your carpet is an inch thick piece of styrofoam with sound deadening on one side. unless its punched through that, then gone UP to the carpet, then its awesome water that can run uphill.

im going with andys theory of aircon condenser is leaking or its possible the external vent behind the battery is leaking into the cabin space around the aircon unit. or through it!

youre going to need to remove some panels and see what is damp

Have you looked at your roof rack? Sometimes water might come in through there and work its way down the B pillar into the floor?

Just an idea (suggesting something completely different)

I had a similar issue in my R33, turned out that it was the heater core in the passenger side.

Does it have a Smell or greasy feel ( liquid on passenger side )

Check your fluids in your radiator if its running down and requries top up, best way to find out is to turn your heater and let it run for a bit and see if water comes out of passenger side.

Interesting regarding the heater core. Sounds like a real possibility. The fluids is not greasy or overly smelly though...

thats what i told you originally, but the water doesnt smell like coolant.

I know nowt about M35, but in my R30 I have

wet carpet in drivers carpet. When it rained you could wash your feet in it.The water actually is coming out from above the roof lining near the sun visor.

It then runs down inside the plastic trim attached to the A Pillar.It then drips to the floor inside the door seals.I have roof rails that are fitted with self tappers and have currently siliconed the holes a bit better and am waiting for rain. LOL.

One thing to remember is that water CAN go uphill by capillary attraction.

true, and also it's not uphill when the car is on it's roof.

but heater core is a likely choice....coolant can look just like water when you run water for coolant too

When I ripped up the carpet to run power and RCA's for amps to the boot, I noticed under the floor where the polystyrene blocks are, passenger front floor was soaked, and drivers side. Both full puddles of water. Soaked it up, haven't checked since will have a look when I pull seats out next time and see what I can find as a culperate.

Hmmm interesting. Checked the front passenger seat and its damp there too. Not drenched - just damp. Towards to front area is dry, area cloest to the transmission and seat are damp.

you wont get water leaks with nismo suspension
