A car built for track racing, its always better to have the power band slightly more linear, not just nothing and then all hell breaks loose. I find that dyno run very nice and i can foresee some great corner exits with the power being delivered nice and smooth rather than ferocious to the point where you have to fight the car with oversteer.

Gordo dissecting the wiring harness

Dont let appearances deceive you, his fingers are nimble and quick. I reckon he could have done microsurgery but he chose the more noble art of modifying high performance Japanese cars.

and then below, the throw away bits. more weight savings!

Intense Handbrake, intense!

Are you sure you guys haven't actually been building this over the past two years secretly and land this bomb of a build on us now mate? :P

I'm so looking forward to seeing the big girl in action :)

long nights and weekends working on the car by all the lads at Mercury. super effort.

still plenty to do!

aim to have the car ready in close to final 'pre WTAC' spec for 26th July.

We have a few test dates prior to that planned at QR and Morgan park where the car will look a bit like frankenstein.

Well, it looks like the effort put in is being reflected in the build. Superb stuff!

And yes, Frankenstein.... been there with Mark a few times! :P

Thanks for the walk around tour today Mark & the guys @ Mercury, much appreciated especially on a Sunday.

Some serious work going on there, and quite interesting to see how a few things have been approached. Weight stuff was really surprising indeed. Look forward to footage of 4WD power slide burnouts

how did the shake down go Mark?

any in car footage to be had as yet, or is it under cover for :ninja: reasons...

Didn't happen - tomorrow it'll be out Mark said today :D

Great to meet you guys.

Test day tomorrow, hoping things run smoothly!

Good luck with the test drive!

I am really looking forward to seeing your car at the track on the Nissan & AWD track day. Try not to lap me too often, please!

I absolutely love every aspect of the build. One of my son's who is working towards a mechanical engineering degree is fascinated by this thread.

Just one question. With the insane level of GO, should you maybe fit a similar level of WHOA?

If there was ever an argument for the benefits and safety that Carbon Ceramic discs can offer, your car is it BIG TIME!

Are there 'Carbon Ceramic' front rotors for the GTR and if so, should you fit them?

Have a great day tomorrow and see you on the 26th.

    • That still isn't a lot to go on. I don't have a Y50 Fuga Head Unit wiring diagram. I can say that a lot of nissans of that age shared head unit plugs, so if you are in Australia something like this would probably help: https://aerpro.com/app091# You plug that into the car loom, then either plug the head unit ISO into that (if it has ISO), or you buy and ISO adapter harness that you wire in. Bit of stuffing around, but once you have ISO its easy to change things in future.
    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
