Decided with the exchange rate I'd import a accusump kit and 'T' it into my oil cooler install. I'm unsure which size one to get as yet (bigger the better) but that will come down to the restriction(s) of the mounting location.

I need ideas for mounting locations.

mine is installed in the boot.. [distance of 3.2m of -10 braid] i emailed Canton and they said this is fine, so long as the pressure actuator/valve is still installed in the normal position on the outlet of the accusump.

the braid is secured under the car - the problem i saw with mounting in the cabin is the fact you have hot oil sitting there in a pressurised state (also the reason why i didn't want it mounted in my front bar)

after a couple of cycles there will be no air in the system

i also went with the Moroso check valve (so oil goes straight through your engine, and isn't pumped back through the oil cooler) and the Moroso accumulator mounts

Got these from Performance wholesale in QLD for about $80 for both, they can post as they order from their Sydney warehouse anyway

Above coilpacks or behind front bar reo. Although the latter will get you in the shit if you have a front on.

Other options are in boot, pasenger front quarter (although this means you won't be able to manually activate the valve so you should buy the electronic solenoid for it. You should also buy the 2quart one, not the 3, the 3 is about 50-55cm long I think

Battery relocation is a great idea actually, since it's a R32 it's still in my factory position (the drivers side front corner). I'd like to keep the accusump as close to the enginebay as possible as my oil system (cooler, lines etc) already requires ~7litres

As for boot mounting the accusump, is it difficult when doing a complete oil change to do the oil inside the accusump and the line going to the boot?

Just let the accusump discharge fully (pre lube) into the sump with sump plug out.., all that will be left in the line is a few hundred ml's.. Disconnect and blow into it if you want that last bit out.

They're just a light weight hydralic accumulator...

They work quite well if set up correctly. There are a few cars that rely on them to get around our local tracks without loosing oil pressure at a couple of particular corners.

You can use them as pre-ooilers as well.

yeah you use them to pre-oil on start up, and then they can be set-up with a pressure switch. if through high g-cornering/braking/accelerating oil pressure drops it discharges into the engine to keep oil flow and pressure up. once pressure is above a certain point it recharges again.

    • My idle is set at 950rpm though - Moving the timing around 20 degrees is not really what I'd call a calm idle. That said... neither is chop, by definition. The LS ECU likes to adjust timing to hold idle as opposed to air. It'd work, but generally speaking there'd be a discrepancy in the base idle and the IACV would want to move the timing around anyway to maintain said idle. I think I'm just going to keep the timing steady anyway. Preserve my engine mounts.  My aircon is now officially regassed. As the guy was reversing I noticed my reverse lights do not operate, along with my reverse cam. This is a bit distressing, because 100% of guides talk about which wire to connect to backup cams as "the goes with the [other color] wire". Often when doing conversions. Unfortunately the R34 colour wires aren't documented Unfortunately I had a T56 Magnum gearbox with it's reverse switch, which also isn't documented. Unfortunately there's definitely not documentation for people with both of these in the one car. Unfortunately I forgot. After many hours of this, I have a reverse cam and reverse lights again. The wire going through the trans tunnel to the reverse switch had broken. Upon inspection, it looks like this one wire had about 7 spade terminals and extensions in it.. for reasons I cannot possibly comprehend. I also spent the 750 hours required to clean up the wiring behind my head unit which now looks like this: This is a monumental improvement relative to what used to be there WRT triple gauges, head unit, traction control, wideband controller, and whatever the f**k OEM stuff still exists there in various states of connectivity/needed. Next step is to check in at the Exhaust shop to see/confirm how much clearance I have, to decide what mid mufflers or 'resonators' (which are just straight through, narrower mufflers) I can add and hopefully cut out a lot of exhaust leaks, pinhole, v-band or otherwise. But first step will be to 'take a look' before the next step.
    • Fark the AFM card and Nistune, Haltech Nexus S3, DBW, cruise control, flex fuel, dis dat.  
    • It's most likely the bolt/bush where the cover bolts back wore and allowed cover to move forward.
    • Still haven't put the injectors and R35 AFM in so we can tune the bloody thing for the HG highflow it got mid last year! I think I can forecast the upgrade path to a bigger twin scroll, external gate, Haltech, flex setup, Samsonas, dis dat, etc will be .... a while away!
    • Should have taken that opportunity to slot in a twin scroll turbo setup. Maybe next time.
