Diy Injector Install

hey all, trying to install my new injectors, and fuel rail, never done it before but having a crack none the less,

its just not looking right, they are Xspurt 1000s and some knock off rail, (not what i asked for but what i got). and i also got speed flow port adaptors,

so they way i have tried it is

rail > speedflow adaptor > injector > and then stock O ring into the manifold,

its in this last picture that im a bit worried, just doesnt seem right,

any help is welcome,

yeh not to sure aye, that what i was thinking aswell, i dont understand why i got an inject spacer and a rail spacer, but with out both the inject isnt even close to sitting right,

Measure how far you want the injector to drop, then cut the same amount off the spacer. I guess you need the injector to be sitting right down or the blue spacers may pop off right?

Good choice on the Xspurts. I have the 1000's now, running eflex and it idles perfectly.

yeh if i lower the injector the i wont have a good fit in the spacer, ill try sort it out tomorrow,

glad to hear some good feed back on them, i was told they are very similar to the ID's when i baught them, although, i wish it was a straight forward

looks like you got 2 o rings there

yeh pal, there is, but ones on the injector it self and on is in the manifold, but i firstly thought that i would take the one out of the manifold, nbit the injector then would move around,

as it sits now, its firmly in place, but i no it not right,

It looks like you need to take off the original o ring that sits in the plenum and cut / grind off piece of the spacer where the allen bolt passes thru so the entire rail will now move down and hold the inj firmly in place using only the o ring on the inj

when i changed the injectors on my 25 i noticed that the injector does not sit firmly against the factory O ring in the manifold but it all seals fine.

on my new fuel rail for use with dekka injectors, I swear have a machined alloy spacer of sorts for each injector, same style of rail as this...??

I'll go and check it out...

took some photos of my new dekka injectors that came with spacers to bridge the slight gap Im guessin, its only a guess cause I havnt actually test fitted mine as yet...

Take off the standard o rings but leave the o ring on the injector. It will then fit in, just be careful guiding them in, I had issues getting my ID1000s in the first time

with it idling spray some carb cleaner around the orings at the bottom and see if he idle changes, just to make sure they are not leaking.

    • @Butters I can't tell you why but the bigger HKS step 2 cams improved low and mid end immensely. Turbos started spooling about 1k RPM less than before and the idle/vacuum was rock solid, it was an absolute thrill to drive, 3rd gear pulls hit 180kmh where previously only managed 160. Conversely, the milder poncoms in there now have a funky idle making it harder to get off the line, drives poorly in lower revs, laggy and makes less power/torque throughout. Feels better after I swapped the EBC but unless I put it on the Dyno again, I can't say how much better.

    • Cams are not needed at this power level, they will create lag. The cam gears are a good idea though.
    • @Murray_Calavera yeah, I guessed as much, cooler temps, more boost, less knock, more timing, hello power. Unfortunately not quite within reach ATM, could upgrade my whole fuel system to support but still wouldn't have E85 to run it 😂  Anyway, I changed cams again, 260/260 poncam B and everything else the same except an EBC upgrade. Now I must say I was quite disappointed with the result as it was like running stock cams (didn't try to dial them in as they're supposed to be optimum already) but after awhile I suspected my new EBC was underperforming not to mention difficult to use. I recently swapped back my old EBC and it drives much better now, boost comes on sooner, more stable, no spikes etc, feels all quicker and faster than with stock cams. Planning to fiddle with the cam gears and see what happens but maybe skip the Dyno as I intend to revert to the HKS cams cos they really made the car come alive; low and mid end was unbelievable and it just wanted to rev to the moon, finally knew what people were raving about, RB26 really loves revs. Anyway, Dyno 03 is quite disappointing, in Dyno 02 although peak power was less and trailed off at the top, the low and mid end improvement more than made up for it.
    • @Darrel It's so tempting to say e85 is borderline magic. It cools the intake charge, so if you're flirting with the edge of the turbos compressor map it helps dramatically cool down the hot air the turbos are pumping. It is very resistant to detonation so you can crank the timing, I don't really want to say you won't be knock limited anymore.... but you probably wont be knock limited anymore lol. I wouldn't be surprised if you made 20% more power swapping to e85 (provided you have the fuel system to support them, bigger injectors maybe bigger pump etc).
