I got a speeding fine when travelling up north to collect our new pup. It was an honest mistake, no question that I was speeding. I sent in a request for review but was denied as I have had speeding fines in the last 10 years (none for the last 4 though ) I am devo that I'll be losing points after being well behaved for so long and having accumulated all my points back (sold my GT-R, got a dedicated track car and a Falcon daily) etc.

Some of you will know the urban myth, overpay the fine, get sent a refund, never cash it, no points applied.

Any truth to that? My assumption is no but can't hurt to ask.

ive heard of simmilar, worth a try. the bean counters hate when they get an extra ammount so it has to be done manually and by a real person (they then have to send out a cheque as refund)

let us know how you get on

LOL look at it this way, at least you had points to spend!

i got dont while being a gay non attentive to road signs driver by a camera near burwood on Parramatta road a month or so back, the worst part is i have a GPS which tells me where they are but i have turned the sound down on it so i could 'hear my tunes brah'...

anyway was just over so only a point and less than a hundred bucks, was tempted to do the stat dec thing but in the end just bit the bullet and paid it. My fault so i should cop to it, just mad as i have almost made it back to 12 points again..

now i gotta wait 3 yrs before it ticks over and im on a full wicket :( just be thankful we aint P platers anymore!

Oh Dear!

* Even as a government transport officer in charge of state revenue, I would find it so agonisingly painful to find a cheque from a poor man such as you who'd send a cheque that was 3c short!

* I would feel so compassionate that you'd write me letters in re-used government envelopes explaining that you don't have enough money to pay for stamps.

* I would be touched with heartache if you continued to dialogue with your pleas for me to not hand down demerit points, as you a widower, have so many children to feed.

* I would appreciate your replies of gratitude that I as a government officer can be so merciful and gracious.

* After a qualifying period, I would accept your proposal of "de facto" as we meet on our first date in passionate embrace > because I am damn ugly!

lol okay I don't normally laugh at your stuff but this one got a snigger out of me, so well done Terry.

why do you care so much about losing some points? if you haven't had a fine in the past 4 years then you will have all your points so it isn't much of an issue and if you have curbed your bad driving habbits then it shouldn't be an issue in the future either.

Points and cash are no longer related.

I had 3 points left at the start of this year and got pinned on my mobile... 3 point fine.

I had 3 points coming back in a month and a half's time from the date of the offense, so I ignored the fine for like 3 months... While it did get me over the 6 weeks I had to wait (read no loss of lisence) they did take the points after 3 months when I STILL hadn't paid... (fine only went up like $80 swell)

yeah i tried this a few year back, paid a buck extra, didnt work, didnt get my buck back either..lol ..I did have unpaid fines from over 10 years ago and to my knowledge the points never came off, I also received a red light camera in QLD which I paid but never lost any points..

Whats even odder is I got pulled over a while ago for allegedly being on my phone (which I wasnt), he checked my license out and says that I have 13 demerit points  he also stated I had no loss of license , even he didnt know why.. I later checked with Vicroads and their system says otherwise..

He was then nice enough to not fine me for not being on my phone, which was nice of him :glare:

there is no doubt many loopholes in the system though, but you will usually only find them by accident and they are constantly being rectified

I only care as Vic gives discounted license costs for those who have a ten year clear record and you also have a very good chance of getting off minor infringements with ten clear years behind you. My boss does it and srdo cited my lack of ten clear years as the reason they could not give leniency.

Now I start my ten year count again ;(

oh that sux...but sorry, you were speeding and this is Victoria..go straight to jail do not pass go and do not collect 200$ ..

That is of course if you were actually the one driving the car ;)

I got done for a red light a while back when some f**kknuckle flamin mongrel motherf**king banana bender cocksucker who looked lost hit the brakes in the middle of the intersection on an orange light. I was behind him in a little truck so I hit the brakes but by the time I got it moving again the light was red and I got flashed. Now in no way possible is this my fault but do you think they would have a bar of it with my driving record..I really dont have time to argue their shit and the occasional fine is nothing when i spend 20k a year running my car anyway.

But its guilty until proven innocent here so f**k them and f**k their 10 years good behavior bullshit.

1.A minor infringement is still an infringement so why should you get leniency..Now although I have got leniency many times from nice Police officers realizing my minor infringement wasnt worth getting punished for, getting it from a camera is another Question and this is a big problem with the whole camera/fine system, its simply just not fair. I understand its prime purpose is as a deterrent but in reality it is just criminalizing everyday people.

2. save on licensing costs..pfftt!!..what is is 120$ for a ten year licence thats 12$ a year how much can you really save..

The whole system is a joke mate so why not just treat it as such

In the old days they would have put you in jail or put you on a boat to Australia. But now they have realized they can make more money off criminals by leaving them out of jail and making them pay for the privilege.

So, In the eyes of the law, we are all criminals and the question is, how bigger criminal are you

Interested to hear from anyone who's ever done it.

I believe the loophole is closed, I tested it on a redlight camera fine and it did not work.

I met someone who consulted there and he advised there was a loophole but I've never seen anyone exploit it successfully :(

    • Yeah, plenty of air flow, there is a dedicated path that feeds the air in to the OEM intake tube behind the bumper As for a "tangible effect", maybe, but getting the pod/intake air out of the hot engine bay is worth it psychologically to me, even if it gives no performance difference, so the tangible effect in my Lizard brain saysss yessss  In the end, to me a tangible effect isn't always about performance, sometimes it a sound or a look, or even a...... feeling  Ooga-Chaka Ooga-Ooga Ooga-Chaka Ooga-Ooga Ooga-Chaka Ooga-Ooga Ooga-Chaka Ooga-Ooga
    • yeah first and reverse is where you will find clutch release issues (whether hydraulic or mechanical) because the difference in revs required is the highest there; particularly changing down from 2nd to 1st when still moving. To be clearer though, it is possible that the clutch release bearing is the wrong height. This is less likely than a hydraulic issue but it is not unheard of when you are mixing and matching
    • Quite right, if you make it to that pension you deserve every cent
    • Hi all, Restoring r33 series 1 rb25det. All the heater hoses were on their way out, have replaced them and put it all back together. After testing I noticed a small leak from behind the head on the actual metal water line to the turbo when cars warm. I tried running a longer hose over it but it kept leaking...   I am about to take the (stock) manifold off again😔 to change the water line does any one have any lines they recommend? I was looking at Aeroflow Turbo Oil & Water Line Set but not sure what everyone else recommends. Car is completely stock but want to upgrade turbo eventually. it looks like ill have to disconnect a lot just to replace these lines so if there's anything else recommended to do please let me know. Thank you in advance!
    • From memory, on the R33 GTSt at least, while everyone says "It's not adjustable", I found when I changed clutches in mine, it just needed a small adjustment on the rod length. But be very wary here, as you could end up trying to push the pushrod in the master too far, or blowing out the slave.   Most likely though, if the master/slave isn't bypassing internally or leaking out, then the throw out is the wrong height compared to the fingers on the clutch, so when it moves to disengage the clutch, it isn't 100% disengaged. You can check part of this out too by jacking the car up, having the engine running, put your foot on the clutch and try to engage 1st gear. If it goes in pretty easy (Compared to the ground) and/or the wheels start turning a fair bit and it takes a bit too much brake pedal to bring them back to a stop, this is likely the issue.  I'm not sure if you can adjust the height of the forks etc in these though, it's been that long since I've touched any RB gearbox.
