I thought i'd post here instead of start a new topic.

i'm thinking of asking santa (mum) for cam gears for christmas, as it's the only thing that's cheap enough. Just acouple of questions.

are there any diference in the brands? from what i've read it's sfa.

and is it a worthwhile mod with stocker cams? (the dyno pic dosn't seem to be working)

my mods are:

Power FC

3" cat back

big FMIC

13psi boost

i'm planning to get new turbos, cams, and those trust dumps when i get some more $$ next year.

I thought it would be worth asking for as it will save me ~$350, and will go with future mods.

Thanks

I'd be doing dumps before anything.

on an RB26 i would do the cam gears before dumps. a really nice set of dumps costs around $1000, and cost a fair whack of labour (or time) to fit.

personally i like the greddy cam gears, but they are all much of a muchness. there are really decent gains to be had on a lightly tuned RB26 with stock cams and adjustable cam gears. i gained 30kw at the wheels from cam gear tuning (both inlet and exhaust).

on the question of cams and cam gears, my mate had Poncams (IN/EX) and cam gears fitted to his car however the cam gear for the Inlet could not be fitted. I told him it may be because the Poncam's like to rely on the NVCS solinoid, therefore the cam gears can't physically fit on due to a different bolt spacing or what ever?...... is this whats going on?

    • Yep, the closest base tune available was for the GTT, I went with that and made all the logical changes I could find to convert it to Naturally Aspirated. It will rev fine in Neutral to redline but it will be cutting nearly 50% fuel the whole way.  If I let it tune the fuel map to start with that much less fuel it wont run right and has a hard time applying corrections.  These 50% cuts are with a fuel map already about half of what the GTT tune had.  I was having a whole lot of bogging when applying any throttle but seem to have fixed that for no load situations with very aggressive transient throttle settings. I made the corrections to my injectors with data I found for them online, FBCJC100 flowing 306cc.  I'll have to look to see if I can find the Cam section. I have the Bosch 4.9 from Haltech. My manifold pressure when watching it live is always in -5.9 psi/inHg
    • Hi My Tokico BM50 Brake master cylinder has a leak from the hole between the two outlets (M10x1) for brake pipes, I have attached a photo. Can anyone tell me what that hole is and what has failed to allow brake fluid to escape from it, I have looked on line and asked questions on UK forums but can not find the answer, if anyone can enlighten me I would be most grateful.
    • It will be a software setting. I don't believe many on here ever used AEM. And they're now a discontinued product, that's really hard to find any easy answers on. If it were Link or Haltech, someone would be able to just send you a ECU file though.
    • Yes sir am asking is there possible way from aem tuner from wiring pins
    • Have you checked cam to crank timing and confirmed balancer marks are correct?
