I'm thinking of going to grab whatever comes first, cbf waiting for 'perfect' one simply cos I really hate my current job.

Would happily sell the GTR though.

My question is would I get the job I want after completing the course (which is 3 weeks away), cos was told 50% of pre-apprentices have successful landed an apprenticeship.

Also told many plumbers doesn't like apprentices who doesn't have exprience in domestic - if I were to change from industrial/commercial, you'd have trouble getting domestic jobs should you need/want to. Just another thing to consider...

Have yet to write a resume - been slacking to be honest. Need to decide what to put in and what not to, whether to simplify or fancy it up a bit.

Should be fun times ahead for me...

No idea how it goes in the plumbing industry, but I could've got a domestic apprenticeship ages ago, most would even take u without a pre app.

For me it was not financially possible so I stayed at my high paying job until I got in with a big company. Still almost a 50% cut on my hourly rate, but it's manageable, and will pay off in the long run which is what counts.

If you can afford to go domestic to start then you should be able to find something, just apply EVERYWHERE (I had to be selective and only apply with companies that have signed the ETU EBA)

Also most big companies like guys with domestic experience (speaking from an electrical point of view) as they're usually 'better' sparkies in terms of their wiring etc. So you could do a year or so in domestic then move onto a bigger company and should get in easier, as long as they're looking for 2nd year apprentices of course

Ah I see. I'll just trade mw2 UFC and a 3rd if I have one I don't want and should get it free when u trade in 3. Otherwise I'll trade 2 and pay whatever it costs

^^^ lmao

oh yeh you could do that at EB im pretty sure..

it would be even better if you had one of those games.. i just personally dont keep all of my games, i feed them off to my little cousin once im done.. no point in going through the same missions again.

and nothings split screen nowadays.

Dezz, I understand you've got a house? If so, fair enough on your situation regarding finding highest paying possible.

Yeah I'm going to apply as much as there's available. What are your thoughts on resume/cv as in simple or bit fancy (little out of touch myself only got a job without one and move stores via store transfer).

Ric, congrats on getting a grad position.

Aaron, thanks for the bogan terminology, f**k me they're mind twister.

Yeah got a house, so like I said domestic was never even on the radar. They also have shittier working conditions etc, whereas EBA/union sites have it made..Too hot, go home, to wet, go home, RDO's etc etc etc

As for CVs, keep it simple while still making sure you list any/all qualifications etc. Think about how many Resumes a big company would get, literally hundreds, so for them to be able to learn as much as possible about you in as little time as possible is what they want. Basically need to find a way to set yourself apart from the other 200 applicants, on 2 sheets of paper.

I'm happy to send you mine and you can just cut out my stuff and add your own if you want...Then write up a bit of a cover letter about who you are and why you want the job etc, change the header of each one individually to the company you're applying for and attach it with your resume and send it off/drop it in...Then cross your fingers and wait for the calls...

Thanks, shall PM you later when I've got access to computer.

Not easy getting job for major construction companies?

Also do you have to be member for union?

    • Yeah, that's fine**. But the numbers you came up with are just wrong. Try it for yourself. Put in any voltage from the possible range and see what result you get. You get nonsense. ** When I say "fine", I mean, it's still shit. The very simple linear formula (slope & intercept) is shit for a sensor with a non-linear response. This is the curve, from your data above. Look at the CURVE! It's only really linear between about 30 and 90 °C. And if you used only that range to define a curve, it would be great. But you would go more and more wrong as you went to higher temps. And that is why the slope & intercept found when you use 50 and 150 as the end points is so bad halfway between those points. The real curve is a long way below the linear curve which just zips straight between the end points, like this one. You could probably use the same slope and a lower intercept, to move that straight line down, and spread the error out. But you would 5-10°C off in a lot of places. You'd need to say what temperature range you really wanted to be most right - say, 100 to 130, and plop the line closest to teh real curve in that region, which would make it quite wrong down at the lower temperatures. Let me just say that HPTuners are not being realistic in only allowing for a simple linear curve.
    • I feel I should re-iterate. The above picture is the only option available in the software and the blurb from HP Tuners I quoted earlier is the only way to add data to it and that's the description they offer as to how to figure it out. The only fields available is the blank box after (Input/ ) and the box right before = Output. Those are the only numbers that can be entered.
    • No, your formula is arse backwards. Mine is totally different to yours, and is the one I said was bang on at 50 and 150. I'll put your data into Excel (actually it already is, chart it and fit a linear fit to it, aiming to make it evenly wrong across the whole span. But not now. Other things to do first.
    • God damnit. The only option I actually have in the software is the one that is screenshotted. I am glad that I at least got it right... for those two points. Would it actually change anything if I chose/used 80C and 120C as the two points instead? My brain wants to imagine the formula put into HPtuners would be the same equation, otherwise none of this makes sense to me, unless: 1) The formula you put into VCM Scanner/HPTuners is always linear 2) The two points/input pairs are only arbitrary to choose (as the documentation implies) IF the actual scaling of the sensor is linear. then 3) If the scaling is not linear, the two points you choose matter a great deal, because the formula will draw a line between those two points only.
    • Nah, that is hella wrong. If I do a simple linear between 150°C (0.407v) and 50°C (2.98v) I get the formula Temperature = -38.8651*voltage + 165.8181 It is perfectly correct at 50 and 150, but it is as much as 20° out in the region of 110°C, because the actual data is significantly non-linear there. It is no more than 4° out down at the lowest temperatures, but is is seriously shit almost everywhere. I cannot believe that the instruction is to do a 2 point linear fit. I would say the method I used previously would have to be better.
