I seriously don't understand how he did that with a cat. Lol your exhaust temps must be through the roof for it to be able to continue ignition after the cat to the tip

Dead cat?

I haven't had that happen when I pooped the 'cooler piping, just bucketloads of black smoke in Otways. So if you see a dead tree, I might be responsible for that :ninja:

If it's running rich enough it can still flame. His cat may also be stuffed. Still has to get pretty hot though!

Driving down glenferrie road and this big f**king spider crawls across my bonnet :(

god i hate spiders

Spiders are attracted to you didn't you know?

Me no know

Haven't done anything to the cat

Guessing a shit load of fuel got dumped in when the cooler pipe blowed off. Apparently the flames were seriously long and went for a little while as I tried to get back to the pits as I didn't want to get towed off.

That didn't work....still got towed off...

yeh your exhaust temps must be seriously high lol. for it to combust after the cat is pretty f**ked.

lol anyone get video?

Did you pay for the tow Toby?

towed back to pit lol

Hrmm..

Towing to the pits was free

I was under the impression at all track days its free to tow to the pits

Maybe your crash at DECA was a bit different :P Deca fee is quite low so probably doesn't cover it

Well, the $680 was for my first SAU cruise on GOR, I pooped the 'cooler piping somewhere in Otways, nannying back to the motel and got it towed next day, then towed it again to mechanics only to find busted 'cooler piping clamp (I still have the busted clamp)

DECA Shepparton to my place was $500.

Had another tow from my old place to Sabbadin to fix broken turbos, clutch, balancer, and also did 100k service at same time blah blah blah was $80.

Jack @ citywide towing is getting bit rich off me!

Track days have recovery vehicles to pull cars out of the dirt / kitty litter and off the track so people can get on with their racing. The tow is back to the pits and free; they are being paid to be there...

Towing back from DECA or GOR to Melbourne is a little further lol.

Yeh tony literally got it towed from racetrack back to pit lane lol

Yeah towing from the GOR or DECA is a weee bit different to towing from the race track to pit lane :D

    • There's restrictor pills in the stock boost control hoses. That's how they set the amount that was bled off and hence the "high" boost setting. The usual mod in the day was to remove it and send the "high" boost setting up to about 14 psi.
    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
