Due to needing to re-shell my 34R, all my 32R build parts need to go :(

All parts are from my uncompromising 32R build that was put on hold - see the thread:

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/328473-pauls-r32-gtr-tarmac-build/

Alcon Brake Kit

I bought this kit for my R32 GTR with the intent of using it for tarmac rally. Only just bedded in, done maybe 500kms on the street, NEVER made it to the track from new before the car was pulled apart and never went back together. Those who know me know I drive like a grandpa on the street and save it for the track.

These brakes are brilliant, brake time and time again without fade, and work well with the factory master cylinder.

This is all virtually brand new, paint on the calipers is original as it left Alcon.

They fit under stock R34 GTR wheels.

Kit includes:

FRONTS:

- 2 x Alcon Monoblock 6 piston front calipers

- 2 x Alcon 365mm fish hook rotors

- Billet hats hard anodised black

- All dog bones, bolts etc to bolt straight up to R32 GTR, not sure about fitment with 33/34, PWR should have different dog bones off the shelf for many different cars

- Ferodo DS25000 brake pads, barely used

- 2 x Goodridge braided lines, racing collar version for fronts, purchased with the kit, tabs made up to safely run / bolt on

REARS:

- 2 x Alcon 4 piston rear calipers

- 2 x Alcon 335mm fish hook rotors

- Alloy hats and handbrake drum for the factory system

- Ferodo DS25000 brake pads, barely used

- All dog bones, bolts etc to bolt straight up to R32 GTR, not sure about fitment with 33/34, PWR should have different dog bones off the shelf for many different cars

- 2 x Goodridge braided lines, racing collar version for rear BRAND NEW UNUSED (Goodridge sent me the wrong rears, got custom ones below, then they sent me the right rears)

- 2 x Hoppers Stoppers custom braided lines, racing collar for rear barely used

Front and rear kits together through UAS with the alloy rear hats costs almost $8,400 - before adding braided lines.

Price: $7,400

What BMC did you use with the Aclons?

NOTE: Just saw factory BMC was used.

If they were the same piston size as the R32 Sumitomo brakes then that would be fine. If not then the Alcons never reached their full potential...

Edited by Ruff Ryda

Do the seats come with rails?

Rails not included sorry. I had the drivers floor mount customised to get the seat lower to the ground so its specific to the shell. The passenger side is solid mounted and will likely be sold with the shell. Bride make some for the standard setup I believe, and I saw some good OMP mounts the other day in Roys build thread that would give a lot of mounting options.

What's the gtr shell worth

Good question. So it has a full 6 point Meridian cage, and I have spent $17.5k having it restored. It is immaculate and really only needs some paint slapped on it now. It is still up on the rotisserie at Micolour - so would be an opportune moment for someone wanting to take it on and finish the paint job. Maybe PM me if you are interested.

Yeah I guess you could play around with BMC's or pedal boxes etc. But they worked really well with the standard setup and I know of many people that have used them for rally with the standard BMC without any complaints. The standard pedal setup is great as well - not worth messing with in my opinion.

if only we were into the new year and i new what was going on with work, those brakes are sexy, so is that rad.

    • Yeah, it's getting like that, my daughter is coming over on Thursday to help me remove the bonnet so I can install the Carbuilders underbonnet stuff,  I might get her to give me a hand and remove the hardtop, maybe, because on really hot days the detachable hardtop helps the aircon keep the interior cool, the heat just punches straight through to rag top I also don't have enough hair for the "wind in the hair" experience, so there is that....LOL
    • Could be falling edge/rising edge is set wrong. Are you getting sync errors?
    • On BMWs what I do because I'm more confident that I can't instantly crush the pinch welds and do thousands of USD in chassis damage is use a set of rubber jacking pads designed to protect the chassis/plastic adapter and raise a corner of the car, place the aforementioned 2x12 inch wooden planks under a tire, drop the car, then this normally gives me enough clearance to get to the front central jack point. If you don't need it to be a ramp it only needs to be 1-1.5 feet long. On my R33 I do not trust the pinch welds to tolerate any of this so I drive up on the ramps. Before then when I had to get a new floor jack that no longer cleared the front lip I removed it to get enough clearance to put the jack under it. Once you're on the ramps once you simply never let the car down to the ground. It lives on the ramps or on jack stands.
    • Nah. You need 2x taps for anything that you cannot pass the tap all the way through. And even then, there's a point in response to the above which I will come back to. The 2x taps are 1x tapered for starting, and 1x plug tap for working to the bottom of blind holes. That block's port is effectively a blind hole from the perspective of the tap. The tapered tap/tapered thread response. You don't ever leave a female hole tapered. They are supposed to be parallel, hence the wide section of a tapered tap being parallel, the existince of plug taps, etc. The male is tapered so that it will eventually get too fat for the female thread, and yes, there is some risk if the tapped length of the female hole doesn't offer enough threads, that it will not lock up very nicely. But you can always buzz off the extra length on the male thread, and the tape is very good at adding bulk to the joint.
    • Nice....looking forward to that update
