My gtx 2860s with 33 compressor housings are done... And I can't pick them up for 2 weeks. Oh well, let the suspense continue!

just as I'm about to buy 2 GTX2863 cores!!

I might wait n see how you go lol

if those 60s hit at least 420 430kw with those oe housings I'm so doing it.

You may have to wait a while, they shall be going onto the shed shelf at first as I'm doing a road trip to Victoria for 3 weeks straight after i get back.

But yeah as above the 60s should indeed flow a tad more than -5s.

60's would want to hit 420 rwkw considering it's not too hard to do that on bog stock -5's on E85 but without the brain damage.

brain damage?

That's carrying on a bit isn't it?

He's using a .42 compressor cover not a .60 one, we've been through this before haven't we?

Pete's obviously after better spool then dash fives and better response with Power close to a dash 5 or better.

-5's in the .42 compressor cover didn't do 420kw in a .42 comp cover!

Max boost only saw 383kw,

but you expect a lot from a GTX2860 combo that's never been done before and documented?

Let's just praise Pete for actually giving it a go regardless of the result it will spool good.

Here's the pic of the 383kw -5 in .42 compressor cover.

Mmm, 30psi by 4500rpm.

For reference, when you say custom intake piping, you mean the standard gtx anti surge covers with piping made up to suit them?

Yes thats correct. Custom inlet piping to replace the OEM setup.

Can you see a reoccurring theme here?

You put bigger wheels into smaller housings and they fail. Simple as that!

Hate to break it to you guys but billet GTX wheels aren't the magic cure for the issues that plague the stock configuration like you are dreaming up. Look at Gavin here he's ditched the factory plumbing and "HEY PRESTO" hello to some response & power! Garrett obviously put these compressor wheels into these comp covers for a reason don't you think?

But the big issue which you keep overlooking is the turbine housings. GTX wheels require higher pressure ratios to make the power over the old GT series its well documented and i have experienced it 1st hand with my own GT-GTX experience. Now how do you get your turbine to keep up with your magic billet compressor wheel???

Let me answer that for you just in case you're unsure? ;)

YOU CANT WITH THE FACTORY GTR REAR OR -5 REAR THE GTX WHEELS OUT FLOW THOSE TURBINES!!!

judging by your comments you don't know much.

Go back like 10 pages re read.

I'll do it for you.

What SHIT were you saying again?

You should know your shit before posting garbage it misleads people that don't know better.

LMFAO!

Lol what does that prove? Clearly you know f**k all as there was nothing misleading in what i said so LMFAO ;)

Pauls -5 results beat that so whats ya point? As good a result as it may be its not setting the world on fire nor is it proving that the effort gone into f**king around with GTX's to bolt on is worth while. In fact it makes my point very valid because shitty old -5's still beat it!

Who said anything about winning races? You are the 1 who posted up a graph telling me i didn't know SHIT & that im posting misleading information yeah? You posted a graph of 88lb GTX turbos running 33psi of boost & then i mentioned a set of 72lb GT turbos running 28psi making more power. Can you see where im going with this?

Hate to break it to ya mate but i setup cars for a living and have been working in 1 of the most reputable shops in this land/ possibly in the world who sell parts globally and setup the worlds fastest time attack cars. So im not just some internet muppet staring at graphs making assumptions talking shit via a keyboard.

Whats your claim to fame?

well you said PAULS FIGURE BEATS SIMONS!

I was stating twice now that it's not a race so how does one lose if it's not a race?

So you work in a workshop, you must know everything?

This is why I think your not very smart and now it's on record Mick_o

How is a GTX2863 crammed in a 707160 -5 foreign housing an 88lb turbo ???

GARRETT DID NOT PROVIDE ANYONE A COMPRESSOR MAP FOR A GTX2863 IN A DASH 5 HOUSING! !

its that simple.

Sorry you don't understand, maybe I'm not famous enough for you to pay attention to me.

What if I said I hold the record for the heaviest bench press at my gym, would that be classed as a claim to faim?

Your clogging this thread up too btw.

    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
    • No, code 21 is very straightforward. It can only be the things described in that diagnostic flow. In fact it has no way of knowing that the spark plug resistance is out of spec.
    • Hi, SteveL Thank you very much for your reply, you seem to be the only person on the net who has come up with a definitive answer for which I am grateful. The "Leak" was more by way of wet bubbles when the pedal was depressed hard by a buddy while trying to gey a decent pedal when bleeding the system having fitted the rebuilt BM50 back in the car, which now makes perfect sense. A bit of a shame having just rebuilt my BM50, I did not touch the proportioning valve side of things, the BM50 was leaking from the primary piston seal and fluid was running down the the Brake booster hence the need to rebuild, I had never noticed any fluid leaking from that hole previously it only started when I refitted it to the car. The brake lines in the photo are "Kunifer" which is a Copper/Nickel alloy brake pipe, but are only the ones I use to bench bleed Master cylinders, they are perfectly legal to use on vehicles here in the UK, however the lines on the car are PVF coated steel. Thanks again for clearing this up for me, a purchase of a new BMC appears to be on the cards, I have been looking at various options in case my BM50 was not repairable and have looked at the HFM BM57 which I understand is manufactured in Australia.
    • Well the install is officially done. Filled with fluid and bled it today, but didn't get a chance to take it on a test drive. I'll throw some final pics of the lines and whatnot but you can definitely install a DMAX rack in an R33 with pretty minor mods. I think the only other thing I had to do that isn't documented here is grind a bit of the larger banjo fitting to get it to clear since the banjos are grouped much tighter on the DMAX rack. Also the dust boots from a R33 do not fit either fyi, so if you end up doing this install for whatever reason you'll need to grab those too. One caveat with buying the S15 dust boots however is that the clamps are too small to fit on the R33 inner tie rod since they're much thicker so keep the old clamps around. The boots also twist a bit when adjusting toe but it's not a big deal. No issues or leaks so far, steering feels good and it looks like there's a bit more lock now than I had before. Getting an alignment on Saturday so I'll see how it feels then but seems like it'll be good to go
