Unless it's a Gtr? I like what ur sayin but I dont understand unless ur just stirin sh!t lol

you need almost perfect conditions to run a 10 sec pass on the street in a RWD skyline repeatably... A GTR will do it in the middle of a snow storm with your mum driving...

Something along those lines with maybe a little less exaggeration :P

Also on the street a 10sec car isn't really a 10sec car... Unless it's a GTR :)

If a car COULD do a 10 with drag tyres then I would class it as a '10 second car' even if it was wearing street tyres that day.

Unless you are launching your RWD GTST it is going to perform just as well as an amateur wheel drive car in real world street driving, i.e nailing the pedal at street speeds.

If a GTR and a GTST both could do a 10.99 then the GTST would have better trap speed and for hooning about on the street will pull harder, i.e doing 3rd gear pulls etc against your mate.

Mum won't get in the Gtr let alone drive it haha

We managed an 11.2 at 130mph full weight with street radials running an rb30/25 gt35 manual in a vl on pump with around 350rwkw. Guy driving was very good though - now test drives jags for a living. I would say that would be close to the benchmark for 350rwkw manual.

If you do have a GTST that runs 10s on drag tyres there is no way you would want to put street tyres on it, even on public roads.

Semi slicks are a must.

I took my Mum for a spin in my old 430rwkw GTR moooohahaha  she was not impressed

Yeah and even they don't work that well without heat in them... A 10 sec GTR will eat a 10 sec Gts-t alive unless your rolling on throttle in 4th gear

Ha, last time I had mum in my car she yelled at me for hooning at 1/4 throttle confused.gif Wasn't even on boost yet. Safe to say she is now banned from my car :)

My semi-slicks were pretty mud during the off-street racing at Powercruise, all wheel spin. Was my first effort at drag racing though, so my terrible driving skills probably didn't help :P They go hard around the track though, very grippy.

Agreed 4,024%.

Some people just wanna be able to say they have run a "10" and nothing more. Who gives two sh*ts about comp racing.

A GTR is without question the better set-up in a pure 'street' equation.

Its the IRS that the problem fo the RWD skylines(actually i think its more the the gearing most of the time , i think once Rb25's start making more than 300ish rwkw, they the gearing is to short with the low diff ratio, which multiplys the torque, and is not the best for drag radials a they struggle with regaining traction once spinning compared to a rag tyre, which absorbs more energy , reckon it would be better with something in the mid 3's ratio wise)) buy a vl turbo or a R31 and they will easily 60ft on the street constistently as well as a GTR/WRX etc on drag radials.

cheers

Is it better to launch in 2nd gear then do you think? I know the Impreza can give better 0-100km times if launched in 2nd.

Can you not run positive camber to help an IRS car?

That's just hyperbole. No traction in 3rd even? C'mon!

Highly untrue. GTR lags like dog balls. Imagine a 10 second Gtr with -5 turbos doing a 60k roll race. Wait I Did this! My r33 gtst 280rwkw vs r32 Gtr 385rwkw. 60k roll. I maxed my speedo b4 he caught up. A 10 sec GTR is nothing without the launch. You GTR fanboys crack me up :P

    • The wiring diagram for the R33 RB25 is freely available, and is essentially the same same as most other RBs (just with differences as to which pin # does which job). To get the ECU to power up, you just need to provide power to the ECCS relay, and have the other power feeds that come in from the top left of the wiring diagram (wrt the ECU) that give perma power to the fuel pump relay, the ECU itself, etc etc, all connected. When you put power on all these it will just come to life. It's pretty clear from the diagram what needs to happen. Just follow the lines from the 12V + supply stuff in the top left over towards the ECU. I've even posted snips of such diagrams (not for vanilla 25, I think for Neo and 26) to various threads here in the last few months, talking about what it takes to get the fuel pump and FPCM up and going. Search these up and they will help get you started on doing the same with the vanilla 25 diagram. Hell, for all I know, I've done the same with that one in years past and have forgotten.
    • Yep...so unless someone posts up the answer you will need to probe from the ECU connector to the dash plug with a multi meter in continuity mode to trace the wires.  Note the ECU has multiple - and + (and across different key settings - Battery, IGN and Start) and most likely the power is fed from the connector(s) that is normally near the left hand headlight.
    • Thanks Duncan, I am actually just trying to get the Rb turning and running with the RB25DET S2 original loom itself  I am just trying to get it going outside the body and not thinking about the S15 or trying to match anything to the S15 loom at all I am only trying to see if anyone has done this and what pin they found to be the ignition trigger and ECU+/- on the dash connector, that's about it. Thanks
    • Hi Guys, Does anyone know any aftermarket part numbers for a starter motor to suit the VQ25DET? I can find lots of alternative part number for the VQ35DE, which I assume would fit, but there is a lot of conflicting information out there. Thanks..
    • I don't understand how this hasn't boiled down to - Upgrade the turbo when you have everything required. ECU, injectors, fuel pump, turbo, etc. Do it all at once.  If you don't have everything required, just enjoy the car as it is and keep saving up your pennies.
