Agreed...,some bikes are just stupidly loud..I really don't get it. I think it might be that aca and today tonight don't runs specials on bike hoons as opposed to car hoons every 6 months or so when things get quiet...they just dont get the publicity/numbers that all us street racing grandma killing burnout hoons do

Because if they did the Bikies would actually take action.

Unlike the rest of complacent Australia.

Funnily enough my best mate was done in Nov up there on his Harley. Seems they are doing what they've been doing here in Vic for quite some time (EPA) wise.

Took photo's of the bike, documented modifications and send him an EPA in the mail - based on suspicion, not fact.

So if you guys are getting the "suspicion" EPA letters, you are now as fked as we have been for the last 8 years or so :(

Oh and engineers certs or not... People still get defected and then you've gotta go through the court ringer to prove that you are not actually in the wrong. Been there and done that.

I've been pulled over twice since I've had the car engineered, the first time the police asked me to pop the bonnet and I said "no problems sir, I'll just get my engineering certificate out the glove box for you" he had a look and said no problems, the second time they sent me around the corner to the mobile inspection station where the RTA guys were, they checked my cert, measured my ride height, tyres, lights and said no problems.

My car looks fairly stock from the outside but with aftermarket everything under the bonnet and under the car, inside the car is a half cage, harnesses, R34 GTR seats, fire extinguisher, first aid kit.

The rims were R34 GTT rims (now with 33 GTR rims) with the Nissan logo which makes the look standard, but it all covered in the cert.

I keep my cert with my CAMS licence, rego paper and insurance paperwork, which helps explain some of the mods.

Though I'm also 46 yrs old which keeps me out of the "stupid kid" demographics, and I am also always polite and answer all questions or requests with a smile, initially when pulled over I always say Gday and ask them how their day is.

I can understand why these inspections are needed to remove unsafe cars from the road, and I agree that imports are picked on, why, they are easy targets, but let's be honest, you can have your car legal and still have fun, albeit with some undue attention, do it right and the hassles are greatly reduced, do it wrong and pay for your mistakes.

Old man tip

No 1: don't have your car low with big rims, loud, or outlandish body kits.

No 2: get your mods engineered.

No 3: be polite always, the police are just doing a job they have been told to do.

No 4: don't give them reasons to pull you over, ensure all your lights work, and don't break the road laws.

What are the price of these engenerring cirts? I want to budget for them when i do my conversion, Altough i will be going the sleeper route :) still want something to cover my ass.

are they done per item or how does it work? would i need one for the rb26 in the GTS4, Spose they will never know, OR will they, Mabey just for induction ect.

Any links or sites on the details.

Mine cost less than $1000, I had to get a few things compliant though first like remove turbo timer, plum in BOV, filter enclosure, remove rear seats and belts and a few other bits and pieces.

Find a engineer and ask him whats needed, also look on the RTA or equivalent web site for a guide on modifications.

did you get your engineering done through Unigroup Mark?

how did u go getting the highmount turbo engineered?

I agree with all four of those points btw.. ive been pulled over countless times and never been defected (i dont count the time my mate was driving casue he was being a dickhead!!) and beleive me theres been things on my car to defect..

being polite goes a long way and like you said Robo so does a bit of respect by answering with "sir"

The cops are onto the varex mate its still defectable a bloke got defected with 1 in that ACA story

If the cared is detectable then every car that comes new with an exhaust valve ie hsv and fpv, should be defected as you can't have them state it's not ADR compliment except for said cars

The biggest problem now is you will have all the bored people who are home all week ringing aca, the police or EPA whenever they here a loud exhaust

I agree with getting unsafe cars off the road, but penalizing ppl who go out of their way to have their car engineered and compliant to all the engineers requests is just wrong.

I have been pulled over in my car shown respect to the officers and have been shown respect in return, unfortunately there is a minority who go out of their way to argue, challenge and show no respect to the officers then complain when they have to return the car to stock to pass EPA

End rant hahaha

Ps show respect to others like you would like respect to you

I loved the part how a Varex is sneaky .... what a horrible attitude, maybe I just don't feel the need to subject people to the noise of my exhaust when I am going down to the shops!

Funny thing is a Varex type valve is factory on Ferrari's for example.

They have quiet mode and noisy mode...

Yet they get away with it...

It's farken bullsh*t.

I can't afford a Ferrari :(

I bought my car in August, it had a straight through exhaust, no muffler. The Varex went straight on. I can count the number of times I've opened it up on one hand. So So Sneaky.

If I get pulled over I'll just be polite :)

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
    • Hi.. Just another problem. So maybe you can help. I(my mechanic) done swap from my RB20DE NEO to RB25DET NEO. Everything is OK but we have a boost cut. Coils/Plugs are ok...AFM is ok. ECU is ok. I have Walbro 255 but it "changed" sound few months ago(you can hear it ouside) you did not hear that when it was new(maybe faulty?) Sooo...what now? What can cause this boost cut? It is even when you standing still...
