Hey guys so I got 2 issues that just came about when I put my 2nd hand radiator in.

1st. It has hoses on the bottom of it for power steering I have just left these as my car doesn't have hoses running to power steering from the radiator.

This wont cause any issues will it?

2nd. The outlet from my engine to my radiator is rusted so badly now when I tried to clamp it back up it just crushed and leaks.

I now have no where to connect the hose from my radiator to. Ideas please?

All I could think of doing was pulling the whole thing out and taking it to get a little section of pipe welded onto it.

damn thats some bad corrosion. i would suggest doing what you mentioned and remove the intake manifold or it should be possible to get it welded while its still on the car. you'd just need to make sure everything was covered up well. with regards to the 2 hoses coming out they would be for the transmission cooler for an automatic r33. i take it yours is a manual? then just plug up the 2 holes.

Yeah my car is a manual.

Do I have to plug them up or can I just leave them to drain then leave it alone?

I might go talk to a radiator place on monday or go to a welder and see what he thinks about doing it in car.

Glad I caught this early because I would hate to have this pop doing 100km down the highway

They are a press in pipe, and your auto cooler lines dont 'need' plugging as long as they are never going to be needed again. Id just cap them with something maybe put a bit of fuel hose joining the 2 pipes.

nope, rip it out, if its easy enough, machine up (or get machined) a s/s pipe that replaces it

To weld it would be superficial if your welding to rusted already very thin tube. or rip it out and tig on an alloy tube. i like the s/s pipe idea better though. Never rust again!.

Your block wont be that rusted, cast iron rusts hardly anything compared to mild steel rolled tube. will still be a bit rusty but ok. Get a good coolant and run a bit of castrol RCI (radiator and corrosion inhibitor)

Great thanks :D

Might see if anyone is wrecking a 33 and I could just get a whole new one for like $20

If I cant then I will price up a s/s one

Thanks for the help guys

I will have to get a mate around to help try work out if its all earthed correctly

If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
    • Hi.. Just another problem. So maybe you can help. I(my mechanic) done swap from my RB20DE NEO to RB25DET NEO. Everything is OK but we have a boost cut. Coils/Plugs are ok...AFM is ok. ECU is ok. I have Walbro 255 but it "changed" sound few months ago(you can hear it ouside) you did not hear that when it was new(maybe faulty?) Sooo...what now? What can cause this boost cut? It is even when you standing still...
