Lol.

Piss off Ash.

I went down there on Tuesday and they were just about to start on it. I'll be down there tomorrow to drop off something so I'll see how they're going. I've got a week off work the week after next so I should have some decent progress there.

I've decided to give the -5's a run first, Atleast to get a baseline and to see how much of a difference this head has made.

I also got my balance tube back from HKS as they have ported it to suit the head. I'll put pics of that up when I get it back from Hypertune on Friday.

less faggotry more build thread!

Dave, I like it, no bullshit and straight to the point !!

Paul will never have this engine finished.

Infact this mystical japanese head doesn't even exist. He just copied some pictures from the depths of google

Ash , I can tell you its 100% for real as I had to lug the bloody thing in my carry on back from Jappa.

No I'm not Mike.

If you were would be a good basis for comparison to other results... we dont race flow benches (or dynos) but it is the only measuring stick we have to go by for heads.

ok, just caught up from like page 3 hahaha :D

as for your suspension, i don't think they'll be too firm if the shocks are up for it. I believe my Arragosta's are 14/12 kg springs which i was absolutely dreading, but really, they're fine on the road. So i reckon you're R-tunes will be fine...

in fact, man up... get some silly Jap rate springs in there! :D

Agreed and the best way to measure your gains with back to back dyno testing. I can't imagine the withdrawal symptoms u are experiencing Paul...almost there

Yeah getting there man. This thing is gonna cop the biggest raping of its life when its back together!

Yeah I know man, however it's so close to being put together that Im not going to take such a critical part away from the builder. Sick of waiting.... Need to be launching!

LOL

Well, i've had them in the car for a little bit (100 kms or so). They were firm but also compliant (if that makes sense). I'd it's the valving in them. I was expecting it to be 4 gum tree stumps in there. That was on 19's with 30 series tyres, so i'd hope to think that with a 265-285 35 x 18 tyre will help.... even if ever so slightly.

OK. Finally a little update

I got my balance tube back from HKS. That got ported and matched up to the port size and shape of my head

I took it out to Hypertune so it could get modified for whats called the "JUN cooling mod"... Well that seems to be the most common name for it.

Keen eyes will notice the 6 holes where the air would be have now been filled up and the water galleries have been tapped to accept a fitting. Out of each of these there will a -4 line that goes to a header tank. The wiring loom has to move so that will be rerun under the runners of the plenum.

Also there has been a camshaft change. Unigroup (Well Yavuz) went and picked a lobe that was much more aggresive than what the Japs have to offer.

Very nice paul. Good to see progress mang. I might take you up on that offer too mate. Ill call you about it tomorrow and we can organise something. Interested to see the camshafts too. Lift change? duration change?

    • Hey keep the ideas coming, I'm always keen on projects! But, problem fixed!  I got a cheapie ozito scope from Bunnings and had a good look in and around the bearing and sensor hole. I couldn't see a smoking gun but the bearing looked a bit strange, especially when comparing with a new one. I thought the cover had come off the bearing magnets.  Sorry for pics of a screen, I didn't have an SD card.     Good thing I had the old one to inspect. So, given I'm like a pit crew with wheel bearings and luckily I had a spare bearing because I f**ked up my parts order, I decided to just smash it out. Got the old one out in about an hour. So much easier when the parts haven't had a chance to rust together yet. 😂 And, well, found the problem.    In the second pic at about the 8 o'clock position, you'll see what I think is the tip of the old sensor.  The new sensor has definitely been rubbing but it's all intact, just a little shiny so I'm hoping it's fine.  The car brakes perfectly now and no errors.  I think the job took about 2.5h in the end. 👍🏻 I really appreciate the help in here as usual. Thanks guys.
    • I was only looking because I saw some drops on the ground but it wasn't alot. Recently had it serviced will ask the mech to confirm. Find it strange that it looks standard though, can see in another photo of a random box
    • So...not sure if you know if that has always been there or why you went looking. It could be old damage from a clutch explosion, or even just the gearbox got dropped somewhere along the line. Basically, you should seal it up to stop oil and dust getting into the bellhousing, but it doesn't matter too much and is not structural. I'd suggest something like a glob of JB Weld. BTW what gearbox oil are you running, I would guess the breather has been spewing it everywhere.
    • Hey Duncan thanks for your reply. Sorry mate I know the photos are shit.  Took another photo for reference. Seems the casing does have a hole in it looking on the net, fluid seeping out. Added a photo
    • Very hard to make out what you mean, is it the squarish hole with redline shockproof (probably) under it? Is that pic from on top of the engine with the firewall to the left of pic and engine to the right? Either way, spray the area liberally with degreaser and try again, maybe circle the part you are worried about
