hey guys .. my mate told me the other day he emailed BP regarding e85 and they said they have no intentions in bringing it to their servo's

i emailed them yesterday and their responce was they'll pass it onto head office for increasing demand

i want every nissan owner to email BP tonight and tell them to get with the times and bring in E85

Majority of engines/cars out there still don't support e85 - I don't think any major oil company will add another bowser for the sake of a few thousand motorists, until e85 will become the norm. Reason being having another product line will costs millions of dollars.

They won't do it. It's the same reason Shell won't do it. I ask their Marketing Exec's that i catch up with each year (sometimes twice a year), the same response always comes back:

We will not go E85 because of Ethanol Supply in Australia is controlled by 1 or 2 suppliers. When the QLD floods hit, it was down to a sole provider who had total control over the Ethanol supply price (a Monopoly). So Shell & others don't want to go down that route because they loose control of their business.

Also consider the fact that their V-Power Racing 100 Octane accounted for less than 1% of their sales in Australia.

Then the refit costs of each Servo to be able to accommodate E85... It's just bad business.

It comes back to pure marketing and financials. It won't happen regardless of how many emails you send them unfortunately.

Lol, this is actually not a bad idea. I want e85 to become popular. Get a 1000 people in on this and it might change their mind

f**kin oath its a good idea lol

all the facts you guys have stated are true.. but if 1000+ people send an email sayin we want e85 they'll think differently

i just want e85 close to my house :(

BP won't care unless you give them 500,000 people.

1,000 people isn't even 0.0001% of their sales.

but is the e85 from united and caltex actual e85?

i was reading on another forum that in winter its e70 and summer its e85 .. all depemds on weather and how long its been in the tank etc

but theres a fuel you can buy in a can vpw or something? thats 100% e85?

that ethanol display unit looks awesome i might get one when i go the upgrade

They are still selling V-Power 100? Where??

I haven't seen a Shell/Coles servo anywhere in Vic that had the 100 fuel for years.

That's what Ash is trying to say.

"V-Power 100 Octane accounted for less than 1% of their sales in Australia..."

Hence why Shell do not stock it anymore at local petrol stations.

A Shell representative came to one of the SAU Monthly General Meetings a few years back and explained it all.

RE: E70 --> E85

It's simply seasonal. All fuel blends are seasonal, even PULP. Less ethanol in winter due to temperatures. Use a proper sensor with ECU and the ethanol content isn't an problem/issue.

Ye as Jamie said... That's my whole point :)

It is simply not economically viable from a business perspective. Whilst it was a good fuel, infact it was great - it simply didn't make them any money.

I've been using United100 and it's quite good/consistent and i just adjust the tune to suit.

    • It was a great, but typical track day, and some VB was ingested at the night time debrief 🤪
    • And so, to round this out, I couldn't be happier to confirm @MBS206 has decided to buy the car. He drove down from sunny QLD with a trailer last week and it is off to its new home today. I'll let Matt confirm on next steps but I understand broadly that the plan is to leave it pretty much as is, and just get some quality wheel time with a nicely balanced car that is pretty much track ready. There are a few a jobs still to be done first but nothing too major and I think its a very smart buy Dinner last night at the Paragon with a round of VBs (mostly) for Neil
    • Well, 50 pages and the end of a chapter for this car. We took it out for a shakedown at Wakie yesterday, and everything went well. There were a couple of niggles: - Oil cooler fitting leak - tightened, cleaned, stopped leaking - Radiator cap overflow fitting was leaking....Mark called it, the overflow fitting was threaded in and not tight....tightened, tested and held pressure - Small oil leak at the rear of the block, probably the turbo oil feed - too hot to get at it comfortably but probably just needs to be nipped up - leak at the driver's side rear brake line where it meets the hardline. Fitting wasn't loose, so Matt backed it off and back on, no further leaks - there's also a leak somewhere on the top of the fuel tank, maybe that cross over fuel line - that was has been left to fix when its on a hoist Otherwise than those niggles the car went great, turned great and stopped great so it was a very successful day out. I'm always really nervous when a car first hits the track after a long break, especially with a brand new engine as well but it was great. VID-20251011-WA0007.mp4  Big thanks to @The Bogan who dropped by and helped out, @MBS206 and my nephew Lachlan the apprentice.  Neil's wife Mel also surprised the hell out of all of us by dropping by; she's up in Tamworth these days but was travelling to Melbourne so had plausible deniability for turning up at the garage, it was great to see her but also obviously a bit sad all round.

    • Unsolicited advice? Keep the engine as close to stock as you can. Nothing wrong with adding some boost and making a little more power, but given where you are, you really don't want to try to make it into a monster. I can't imagine the roads are up to it, and the lack of locla support when it grenades will be a ball ache. FWIW, If there is a dyno around that you can access, then brand new injectors are a good idea, which will lead you to (at least) putting a Nistune in it, which will allow you to put an R35 AFM on it, all of which will make it possible to make it much much nicer to drive and live with.
