Hello All,

I'm building an RB26/30 with 1000cc injectors. Till what whp will I be ok with a single in tank 340LPH Aeromotive Fuel Pump?

My tuner recommends I get two Bosch 044's instead however, these don't come with an in tank option, which would mean I'd have to look into a surge tank, which I don't currently want to do.

Can I run an Aeromotive in tank 340 LPH in series with an external bosch 044 and get best of both worlds?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Sam

Have you got a chart showing how much your pump's flow drops off with increase in pressure? Quite a few people have experience with the limits of a single intank Nismo but it will be different for your pump. Have you got it directly wired with a heavier cable from the battery via relay? What is your power target? You can put 044s intank if you want. You could put a surge tank under the car if you don't want one in the boot but if you're not going to track it don't bother.

You can put 2 x 044's in the tank if you want too but space is normally the issue, we are weighing up this option with mine at the moment and leaning towards twin Aeromotives because they are smaller and quiet, newer etc.....

My single 044 ran out of flow at around 360rwkw (480rwhp) on E85 and didnt leave much buffer room incase a filter gets semi blocked etc (which i have recently experienced).

I am not much of a guru with this sort of thing, just going through it at the moment with my car and learning as i go :)

Or run the newer model walbro 415 lph e85 compatible intake fuel pump

Good for easy 400+kw at wheels

This.

You will run out of injector before you run out of pump if you go this route.

I'm not sure yet because this will replace the factory fuel pump on my G37. Will have to check how it's wired but I do remember seeing a relay box under my hood with fuel pump written on it.

Also, is this on 98 or E85?

98 RON

Oh wow, and that's a very high flowing pump. Looks like I'm going to rock two of them then. Do you keep me posted with your learning please. The thing is, it's never been done on a G37 before, so I'm not sure how everything will play out. Let's see.

My tuner recommended me against Walbro, is the 415lph any good?

This.

Guess I'll have to look into it then. Thanks for all your help fellas

I haven't seen the G37 fuel pump assembly, but if it's the same as the 350z/V35 ones only the Walbro 342 style pumps will fit in the factory housing. I would go for the Deatschwerks 300L in that case.

There are a few twin pump housings around for them, but perhaps you could modify the stock housing to fit the new Walbro 400L E85 pump? If your tuner doesn't like them, he is a year behind the times...

Nismo/ tomei will flow around 400rwkw on pump depending on who's tuning the car

The walbro's 400s seem to be the sh!t now, I've been running 2 of them in a surge tank with e85 for about 3000km and no issues so far. They are quiet as hell too

As for putting one in the tank, I don't think they are an easy fit like the 044s.. If my memory is correct Piggaz tried putting one in but opted for a 044 as it was less hassle

I went with 2 bosch 044's in an almost identical setup to Paul aka Piggaz set up. the fuel system should have landed me somewhere in the 1500 mark once completed, for rail, pumps, tank, lines, injectors and new reg. Not too expensive for peace of mind mate.

i like to shop around Joey ;) I have only the fuel rail and reg to purchase. 600 for bosch 2000cc, 300 for pumps, 330 for the tank and fittings. I may just pip the 1500 mark, but not by much mang

You're definitely getting some great deals man.

May I ask where you guys normally install your surge tanks? Another reason I stayed away from it was that many told me you get a lot of fuel smell in cabin?

    • The ATTESSA is functionally identical to R34; there were a bunch of JDM models that continued ATTESSA including Fuga/Q70, Skyline/Q50, Cima etc as an option. All with Auto only and I think mostly for snow regions. AFAIK there were no AWD VR30DDTT sold in Australia - it is on my to do list to check regs for racing a LHD car in Targa/ATR/AASA/CAMS events because if I can get the auto to work it would be interesting to run a 4wd car The Ecuteck TCM tuning is the same model as their ECU tuning, they already have it for R35 and Dose's favourite, BMW. You buy "points" to allow your computer to be tuned, buy either a bluetooth (phone app) or bluetooth+USB+Key (phone and PC) dongle, and pay for a tune that will be locked to your tuner ( ). You can also access the tuning software yourself but 1. it is mega expensive and 2. these computers have a billion parameters that intersect, so how could you ever spend enough time on it to get a decent result.
    • Or, is it a case of what it is like owning an R series Skyline? NFI what the previous owner has done or fiddled with... Ha ha ha After reading through this thread, I went on a bit of a research about the Q50/Q60. Now I'm quite intrigued by them! Is the AWD in them more like a WRX where it's always AWD, or is it more like the ATTESSA in the GTRs? By the sound of this TCU tuning, this sounds like a case of someone has made some real software for it, and you just need the right piece of hardware, and then you license that specific vehicle/TCU. Or is this a case of the software will be really expensive so only a few tuners have it, and you still have to pay a license per vehicle?
    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
    • No, code 21 is very straightforward. It can only be the things described in that diagnostic flow. In fact it has no way of knowing that the spark plug resistance is out of spec.
    • Hi, SteveL Thank you very much for your reply, you seem to be the only person on the net who has come up with a definitive answer for which I am grateful. The "Leak" was more by way of wet bubbles when the pedal was depressed hard by a buddy while trying to gey a decent pedal when bleeding the system having fitted the rebuilt BM50 back in the car, which now makes perfect sense. A bit of a shame having just rebuilt my BM50, I did not touch the proportioning valve side of things, the BM50 was leaking from the primary piston seal and fluid was running down the the Brake booster hence the need to rebuild, I had never noticed any fluid leaking from that hole previously it only started when I refitted it to the car. The brake lines in the photo are "Kunifer" which is a Copper/Nickel alloy brake pipe, but are only the ones I use to bench bleed Master cylinders, they are perfectly legal to use on vehicles here in the UK, however the lines on the car are PVF coated steel. Thanks again for clearing this up for me, a purchase of a new BMC appears to be on the cards, I have been looking at various options in case my BM50 was not repairable and have looked at the HFM BM57 which I understand is manufactured in Australia.
