If the car is a write off any idea what I would get as a payout? Also how do i get the option to buy it back?

Has anyone had any experience with micolor or DT panels?

Yeh I'm calling write off, you would have to get a few valuations done on it minus damage, there's a few other ways but I don't know if u can do that now, probably will have to speak to their insurance and work something out with red book or glasses guide values

You would get paid out whatever the market value is on the insurance.

But given it's not registered and not in a RWC state (perhaps), that might be a tad lower.

It's not looking good.

Does anyone know when DT panels opens again? Or micolor?

Mick (Micolour) isn't back I think till the 2nd week of Jan, probably the same for other places too

fair stack :D

for reference when my 33 was written off it was insured for market value so around 11,000

i had the option to buy the car back at time it was declared write off and they would let me keep the car and pay me the difference, around 6k ish and its no longer available for comprehensive insurance or let them have the car they pay me out the 11k minus excees etc

That's what I said, you said if the car was parked illegally it would be the stationary vehicles fault, or implied that way at least. So yeh, it is a broad overview

Parked illegally like if you park in front of a fire hydrant and then there's a fire they will damage your car to get access and you won't be covered

Lol, does anyone else want to repeat what I said? Anyone?

It's not looking good.

DT reopen Jan 2.

My 33 was written off in March this year, got pad 12700 from memory (after excess). Had option to buy it back but didn't look into it.

Ouch, that thing's a write off for sure.

You should be covered by their insurance, regardless of rego or not.

Were you moving at the time? Or was it parked outside your house? Either way, you might be in for a visit from Johnny Lawman, but if it was just parked you might get lucky.

That's a bugger mate, if it's not written off I can vouch for Mick at Micolour, he's not the cheapest and will take his time (which is good) but he's worth it.

Also, if it's parked illegally... wait, what?

    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
    • You have a knack for photography my friend. It makes the 86 look like a complete bucket. The 34 went with you to Europe and back. It's special. (we all feel the same about our 'shitboxes' that every bystander seems to absolutely love)
