Considering the suggested output I think a Super99 is as at home on a 2.5L as it is a 3L.

Its got a full kilo up its sleeve, not something that is as dependent on displacement as it is outright flow. If I am leaving you a little confused do a little reading on the reg changes for 2014 F1.

hey lithium, found more info from someone mounting them on a rb26.. spool the same or a tad laggier than -5s with a bit more power. Said however, the power gain wasnt worth the cost ( especially if they are bought at owen at 1100 euro/quid. Here in USA, its 600$us.. almost half price!).

I then asked FP and said they mainly sell the hta2868 to snowmobile with only 1 turbos.. dont think 1.3l is enought for a 68mm wheels, billet or not lol.

Althought tempting, I'm not really aiming for more power but better responce.. if only they had a 63mm ( maybe..) that could be very tempting. My search for an alternative to the expensive gtx is still on :)

No the "Super" series are just the 94 and 99, they are named that way because FP have designed their own bb core and turbine wheel combination which are specifically "BIG" hahaha.

I haven't seen any results on an RB or Dyno Dynamics dyno but at the same time have been following these things for a while - I figure the HTA3582 would be one of the most responsive mid 400rwkw capable turbos you could get, on E85.

Which are you comparing with -5s, the HTA3582 or the HTA3076? The HTA3582 would be quite an improvement in response, the HTA3076 wouldn't be comparable at all - its a much smaller turbo for a start.

Sorry, I should have been a bit more specific. I was making the statement in regards to the graph that was posted on the previous page :) from what was in the post, looks like the graph was for a 2lt.

Totally agree with your statement though, I think a 2.5 - 3lt would be more than happy to run this turbo. Just the whole ~150whp at 4.5Krpm on that graph leaves a bit to be desired on a 2lt.

This is of course if it were being used as a street and weekend track racer. If it were pure circuit/drag, then obviously the lack of low down power/torque wouldn't really matter, as you'd be hard pressed to end up below 5.5 - 6Krpm +

In a nut shell anything that will make full use of the available 103lbm is going to spend a lot of time a long way above 4k. My comments were more so in reference to anyone on SAU building an RB25 for big power. Personally I would not be too worried about an extra 500cc when talking 1000hp.

The added cubes isn't about to turn your 1000hp weapon into a purry little kitten with a 3071 :) Of course, this is purely academic. I can only offer you my opinion and until such time as proof is presented to suggest otherwise you should make your own determination.

Here's a dyno plot from the soft initial pump gas tune for an RB30DET running a GT4202R - the old school requirement for 1000hp, with a lairy big cast 75mm/102mm GT-series compressor and 82mm (versus 76mm) turbine.

It's a lost closer to a mild boost level GT3071R pump gas setup on an RB25 than some might guess without looking into it - a Super99 HTZ would be quite an substantial improvement over that... the GT42 turbine alone is around 8% bigger, which is quite a large difference in turbo world.

Sorry, I'm getting confused between this post and the one in the EFR thread defending a 300rpm improvement on the premise of transient response.

Eyes keep freaking out looking at that lol - you are right, well I still think it's 200kw at around 4500rpm... but yeah, maybe a bad example KINDOF but that's a HUGE turbo which I am not calling a response monster at all. Just kindof shows what a few cubes can do, Piggaz' car is hardly comparable when it's one mans mission to make the most powerful responsive "RB26" block car possible haha.

Point is, look for an RB25 making 500kw @ wheels and check what power it's making at 4000-4500rpm - then bare in mind this setup ended up almost hitting 8s in a full weight R34 GTR when it went "all in". That extra 500cc makes a huge difference!

So! Exciting news people!!!

Forced performance have just announced the release of their new FP 6466TZ!!! Basically it has the same/similar wheel dimensions as the uber turbo, PTE6466 by precision but uses Forced Performances new HTZ type aero design. Same design used on the Super99..

I am personally very excited about this new turbocharger. I cant help but think that FP have shot themselves in the foot AGAIN with this new turbo. No twin-scroll housing options...

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
    • When you pulled it off, there is no signs of blown head gasket? Is it possible you have some other issues going on? Possible cracked blocked? Or do you think it's straight up lifting the head? Did you check what the head was torqued to before pulling it down (To see if possibly they're stretching, or starting to break threads out etc)?
    • Seems like a decent result for a modded JZX110. They are bulky in comparison to the 100 and 90 models (which I'd prefer myself) but they are getting very few and far between here in JP these days. Thanks for the detailed review and the import process into the UK. I also have a car which I'm hoping to export from Japan at some stage so it's good to know if someone from the UK was interested in it. By the way the corrosion underneath is par for the course for cars which were located in/near the mountains or along the Japan sea coastline. They get huge amounts of snow every winter and the sodium chloride is used on the roads. Many cars have some kind of rubber like treatment underneath but they tend to limit it to the wheel arches underbody and fuel tank. Suspension arms and sub-frames will have similar corrosion to your JZX110 which is a common sight. See it all the time and car dealers here generally don't even mention it unless asked.
    • If the sound goes away when you clutch in, the 1.5/2 way diffs are just shit, and you are a normal person. The diff is likely "fine" but driving at anything under 30kmh is a violent horrible experience. It would be exaggerated with solid diff bushings and subframe bushings if you have those.
