Had the dyno tune today

With 'just'

- 3" Custom Cat Back Exhaust

- Pod Filter

- Hybrid 600 x 300 x 76 FMIC

- 12psi Boost

- Tweaked ECU

It made 203.5kw at the rear wheels with my 18's, is this figure way too high? Because it is still getting the dump pipe, front pipe and high flow cat put on, but still pings between 4000rpm and 5000rpm and only between there.

Could my car have internals I dont know about?!

dyno wouldn't give a flywheel figure....unless it was one of those chassis ones

i'm guessing that it's just very generous....

internals wouldn't give a higher power figure....unless you had some super high compression pistons, but i'm willing to bet money that that's not the case

also i'm guessing most of us here could get 20-30rwkw extra if our engines were pinging... if its pinging probbaly means it needs detuning a little which might drop you back a few kw, plus dyno may be out etc... as everyone else has said

well, i have 199.6rwkw in a VL with a minispool which is lighter than a skyline, you must have bald tyres because when i plant it rolling in second there aint no sideways action, unless i employ the services of "Mr Gearbox Destroyer"

odds are you could have 203rwkw but... you might be running like 13:1 a/f which isnt good and will be causing the ping. my advice, take it to a place that will let you drive away with a car that doesnt ping, you never know maybe they wouldnt mind doing a rebuild for you?

Evan

Dyno figures aren't worth the paper it's printed on, unless it's to compare "before and after" gains on the same car, preferably on the same day.

true, I once saw a stock GTR with 600rwkw.

Some dynos are very generous too....if you want to compare you really need to get it done on a day with others.

And I think everyone else has addressed the pinging problem....remember the "RB" in the engine name stands for "rebuild"

    • When you pulled it off, there is no signs of blown head gasket? Is it possible you have some other issues going on? Possible cracked blocked? Or do you think it's straight up lifting the head? Did you check what the head was torqued to before pulling it down (To see if possibly they're stretching, or starting to break threads out etc)?
    • Seems like a decent result for a modded JZX110. They are bulky in comparison to the 100 and 90 models (which I'd prefer myself) but they are getting very few and far between here in JP these days. Thanks for the detailed review and the import process into the UK. I also have a car which I'm hoping to export from Japan at some stage so it's good to know if someone from the UK was interested in it. By the way the corrosion underneath is par for the course for cars which were located in/near the mountains or along the Japan sea coastline. They get huge amounts of snow every winter and the sodium chloride is used on the roads. Many cars have some kind of rubber like treatment underneath but they tend to limit it to the wheel arches underbody and fuel tank. Suspension arms and sub-frames will have similar corrosion to your JZX110 which is a common sight. See it all the time and car dealers here generally don't even mention it unless asked.
    • If the sound goes away when you clutch in, the 1.5/2 way diffs are just shit, and you are a normal person. The diff is likely "fine" but driving at anything under 30kmh is a violent horrible experience. It would be exaggerated with solid diff bushings and subframe bushings if you have those.
