I'm after new O2 sensors for a Stagea 260RS (R33 RB26DETT) and judging by James' page (great page James) there is a Bosch alternative. I'm not a fan of cutting and joining wires. I wonder if the pins on the plug it comes with can be removed and put into the stock nissan plug. ANyone tried?

yes thats exactly how we did it. remove and replace the pins from the factory plig for the rear o2 sensor

Good stuff! Do you know which sensor it was that you ordered? Was it the Bosch one that's listed on James' page or something else?

I read every page of this thread and found one post I think from a pilot who quoted a price of $256.00 for the pair of r33GTR o2 sensors, I think from Global auto spares,but I can't find it now ,anyone see that.Grey Pearl.

Further to my last post I rang Global Auto Spares and the numbers that keeper gave us for the GTR33 O2 SENSORS APPEAR TO BE WRONG,probably because the guy at global gave him the wrong info.

Apparently the correct global order no info for gtr33's is front:351-0019 $77.00 and rear 351-0019a $145.00 and apparently direct fitment no need to change plugs or wiring.Can anyone tell us if you have bought these items from Global and they fit??Cheers Grey Pearl.

That part number is the same as what James has listed for the R32 GTR. If I'm not mistaken, the R32 uses a small size thread than the R33. I guess you could get one of those adapters. They're both Titania though aren't they (correct me if I'm wrong).

I really don't know I just quoted the part no's that keeper gave us and questioned Global over it as much as I could before he said he was too busy and had to go.He said it was definately the right fit up for gtr33 but now that you say that the numbers are the same as for gtr32 I know it's not a direct fit and now wonder which ones Duncan has been using for gtr33's.Cheers Grey Pearl.

33 gtr is the larger thread and 32 gtr the smaller. they output the same voltage so they are interchangeable - the ones you need depend on the dump pipe you are using, and most (all?) aftermarket dumps take the r33 size fittings.

ngk part # for r33 is OTD2F-P1P. direct fit for front sensor (3 pin plug).

They incorrectly show the same part# for r32

- but does the NGK O2 sensor for the R33 fit the R34 RB25DET Neo engines? appears it might but no one has 100% confirmed this in this thread...

Also could the air flow sensor also cause rough idle and high fuel consumption or is this purely the O2 sensor failure that causes this?

I have changed the Spark plugs already and the oil...

Amongst many other things, a rough idle could be the AFM itself, or an inbound air leak past the AFM. This particular problem (not saying this is yours though) is unmetered air passes into the system and the ECU is out of whack because [AFM recorded air flow] \= [actual air flow]

Fuel consumption is prob O2 sensor. From memory, if the AFM is stuffed, the car will have trouble even idling properly, let alone causing high fuel consumption. My experience is with RB26 though, so when one of my AFMs died the car could keep running.

FWIW.

Ok confirmed 100% wrong connector on the NGK O2 sensor for use with the R34 - I will solder the existing connector onto the sensor and hope it works...

BTW - my existing O2 sensor had a stack of black soot on the tip - what would this tend to indicate?

Well the NGK connector is light Grey and more solid looking with all the spade pins Vertical and positioned in the center of the connector. The R34 or BOSCH connector is black, maybe a fraction smaller and all the spade pins are Horizontal and thinner and positioned in the top area of the connector.

Might take some shots if I get around to it...

    • Kinkstah, no, coilovers aren't illegal, especially as a bolt straight in. The illegal part will be if they're altering suspension geometry beyond factory limits, or the ride height is not legal.   Sounds like the blue slipper just didn't want to deal with any later possibility of mods appearing on the car.
    • The problem has always been that coilovers are able to be adjusted, almost at any time, to be too low. Most people who ever get/got defected for/with coilovers were actually afoul of the minimum ride height rule. So the interpretation by cops/inspectors was always that it is pointless to allow numpty to raise his coilovers and get the car inspected/cleared, then just drop them back down again as soon as they get around the corner from the inspection station.  This led to the interpretation that they were illegal unless rendered such that they can't be adjusted (ie, collars welded to the body, that sort of thing). That may or may not have ever actually been the official line, but I'm pretty sure it's not considered to be a solution these days. Coilovers themselves fall under clause 3.2 b of that manual, because they are an "installation of a variable ride height system" and they don't fit the exclusions in that clause (which point to air springs and other pneumatic adjusters). So, as per previous statements, they require engineering cert to be legal on the road. Once you have such cert, provided you do not adjust them outside the height range covered by the cert, you are OK. Without, you have an unroadworthy vehicle.
    • Here E10 is the cheapest fuel. And general advice is to not use it unless you hate your car. From what I remember it clogs up stuff in the fuel system or injectors?  With US/Canada being E10 across the board, does that mean that all fuel there is terrible?
    • Sorry, are coilovers ACTUALLY ILLEGAL in NSW? They aren't in Vic, as long as they retain 70% of stock travel and the car is above 100mm off the ground. Does NSW actually have a law making coilovers actually illegal? RWC/Blue Slip/Engineering people not knowing the actual f**king laws boils my blood. Demand them to point to the documentation that states a coilover is illegal. (it may exist in NSW ) Edit: I checked.
