Factory BOVs are the best item for your car before running well over 350kw. Atmos BOVs are horrible and make the car run like dogs breath.

replace spark plugs, Coil packs and get your injectors tested.

factory bovs are slightly open at idle due to the manifold vacuum acting on them,(and don't leak under boost) so I would assume some after market bovs could be the same.

Did not know that. I would have thought even if the manifold was a slight vacuum, the spring would still have enough pressure to hold it closed?

ok so i now have another fault to add to my list, i noticed while driving just steady accelerating the car will loose power drop revs etc. for like second like its not getting fuel or something but then comes good after a second. originally i thought maybe it was like a surge sort of issue but i noticed it happened the other day at 100km on the freeway could this be a fuel pump shitting itself ?

then another problem to add, the injectors are starting to leak from between the yellow lip (supposedly a common problem) so annoyed as ive just had them re kitted o rings filter and flow tested .

so i was thinking of upgrading injectors to a bigger size so i dont have to worry about another stock set shitting themselves again. so i searched through the forums but cant find a solid answer so just wondering what a good upgrade would be and also should i look at doing the fuel pump aswell and what sort and anything else ?

thanks guys

Dry soldering joints in the AFM most common, while you are there squirt the probes through the mesh with some carb or contact cleaner.

You can open both the AFM and repair them.

The boost gauge just goes to the top 7+

On a side note/question I started my car this arvo after being parked for 1 hour maybe and it just stalled then I started it again and the idle was

Real rough like it was going to stall but I kept the revs up a bit, this has also happened once before any ideas what it may be?

Once driving its fine both times have been on startup

happened to my S13 before...faulty fuel pump was the problem...which could be intermittent then yet work for a period until they finally die.

ok so im hoping to get some work done this weekend tried to find a thread for bassic first mods and fuel system upgrades but nothing. so im hoping someone can help , just wondering what injectors would support future mods and still be suitable for a fairly standard gtr. and also what fuel pump would be a good upgrade to support said injectors thats not a massive pain in the ass to fit.

i had a look on justjap and they have nismo 600cc injectors for $1199

and bosch 040 in tank fuel pumps for $210

would this be suitable

any input appreciated

really depends on what your power goal is and what ECU you have

if using PULP 98 and an aftermarket ECU

SARD injectors can be had for a lot less - around $600 (or so) for the 750cc versions good for 370-400kw range

Pump - best will be a nismo/ hks/ sard etc intank replacement for ease of fitment, price is anywhere from $300 - $700 depending on where you get it.

these will see you to ~ 350-370kw at the wheels

if you intend using E85, you will need much bigger injectors (reading these forums shows some are running 1200cc units!), in that case you are better off with the bosch pump (or two) and perhaps even getting a surge tank setup with the stock pump as a lifter pump for the surge tank.

I run a moderate 300kw at the rears on a modded ECU with HKS intank and stock GTR injectors (which must bge close to max duty cycle!). I am yet to install the bigger injectors, PFC, Z32's, FPR, Poncams, and carbon twin plate (how much power can you really use on the street??? 300 is a lot to get you moving with good response in a car that now weighs 1350kg). turbos will be a limiting factor (I run HKS GT2530's on 14 - 20psi).

my mods are by todays standards pretty old school (2530's, PFC, z32's etc), but I'm not after huge outputs. look at the 26 dyno results for your desired power goal and see what others are running in terms of what you should look to do. just remember if you go big - you will need to do the bottom end to support the increase in power (along with drivetrain upgrades). to get a comfortable 300+ from an otherwise stock GTR you can easily spend 7-10k or more.

i would like to go for around 300 kw but coming up to chrissy its hard to spend alot of money,

so i was thinking maybe r34 gtr injectors if there compatable into a 32 ? and power fc

then after christmas i can start thinkinking about fuel pump and maybe some other mods.

I make 320AWKW. You can see in my sig whats in it. Pretty much everything except the forged internals are needed for 300kw safely. Especially oil stuff.

Ill be pushing more soon with the -7's as well. Don't bother getting 34 injectors just get aftermarket ones. Basically before you can look at modding get your power figure and look into turbos. If you want response go the -7's (they will make anywhere from 290-330kw on 98) or go the slightly less responsive but more power -5's. They are basically the same price.

From there decide what fuel it will be tuned on.

When you know what turbos and fuel you will tune it on everything else will fall into place.

your engine bay looks sex lol

i need to do a quick fix for the injectors cos there pissing out thats why i was thinking second hand 34 injectors until next year when i can afford some aftermarket ones a fuel pump and pressure reg or what ever else.

and the power fc just to tune it and give a good starting base for modding

Second hand injectors are a little hit and miss, as injectors don't like being on the bench after having fuel in them. It costs me $25 an injector to clean and test, and I sell Bosch 1000's for $100ea so you need to decide what is cheaper.

If you can get them free I guess it could work out well, but you will need 14 - 11mm adapters for the top also. 34 Neo injectors are the same as VQ25det injectors, and I have plenty here. They would need a clean and new Orings at a minimum.

I would be leaning towards the 1000's as Piggaz said.

1000cc even on a basically stock gtr?

Is that 100 bucks for new or second hand injectors Scotty?

If I did go with 1000cc would I need other mods like reg or pump to go with it or just slap power FC and injectors in and go?

my Nur had Nismo injectors before i changed, they were fine for 350'ish rwkw, running 2530's.

Proven, solid injector. I'm in Melb as well. I'm sure i can help you out with a good price just to get you passed these injector issues :)

Injectors, pump, ecu and tune.

Pump, ecu and tune you'd be doing anyway. This leaves you space to move later on. Will idle and drive well. No brainier really.

    • To be determined, Luke, to be determined. 😁 Definitely the car
    • It might be worth having a good look at the chassis behind the bumper then; most people prefer the series 2 look so it might have been changed to cheaper parts as part of an earlier repair
    • The car itself a series 2. I was just curious about the headlights and just wanted to confirm that they were series 1. Good to know the rest of the front end is series 1. It’ll be easier for me to find parts on the aftermarket side of things lol
    • If you've wired up the coils & injectors properly, & have the neo CAS loom for the trigger, it should all work. The VCT works the same way so just different plugs between s1 & neo. Assuming DBW if no IAC. Don't bother with the stock boost solenoid with g4x.
    • THERE IS NO IAT SENSOR ON ANY SINGLE TURBO RB. And the one on an RB26 is not for "engine control" - it's really too big and too slow and is only used for over-temp alarming (as far as I can tell). Anyway, you don't have one. You want/need one for the Link, then you need to buy one, find a spot for it, and wire it in. You do know that the stock boost solenoid is not capable of "control", right? It is merely on or off, for the low boost (5 psi) and high boost (7psi), which the ECU enforces mostly based on gear. The stock solenoid is not for PWM control and is not plumbed up in a way to provide it. If you want to control boost properly, then you need a proper MAC valve. And yes, you can wire either of them direct to the ECU. Well, I assume you can - I don't know what the boost solenoid pins on the plug and play Link are capable of. They really should be as capable as any normal Link - but seeing as it is plg and play, it might be limited to stock functionality. Read the doco.   You really do just want to plug stuff together without understanding how it works, right? I can't help you there. I don't know the plug types or pinning on half the stuff you're asking about. If I had to do it I would sit down with the wiring diagrams, the car/looms and a multimeter and work out what is what.
