“It’s fair to say the team had one view of the incident and Nico had another,” said a Mercedes spokesman. “Lewis’s comments about what Nico said in the debrief are largely accurate.”

Ouch.

Wolff was keen to distance himself from an initial breifing within Mercedes that Hamilton's recollection of his meeting with Rosberg was 'broadly correct'. Wolff said: 'They agreed to disagree in a very heated discussion, but it wasn't deliberately crashing. That is nonsense.

'Nico felt he needed to hold his line. He needed to make a point. He thought it was for Lewis to leave him space, and that Lewis didn't leave him space.

'It was deliberately taking into account that if Lewis moved it could well end up in a crash.'

Button:

"It is just a matter of fighting it out and beating your team-mate, although I know that takes its toll.

"But for me Lewis has come across really well in the media after some disappointing races.

"He has definitely grown as an individual, which is good to see, and has taken it on the chin.

"Hopefully it will build his confidence for the rest of the season rather than shatter it."

Button also felt Rosberg should've "judged the situation better".

"There was nothing there," he said.

"All there was was going off the circuit. There was no move. Strange.

"I think any driver would look at it now, and I am sure Nico will look at it and say, 'I don't know what was I thinking'.

"You should be able to judge situations like that a bit better."

Wish I knew what this meant:

And although Mercedes wants to wait for the dust to settle on the weekend before holding a crisis meeting, Wolff has assured Hamilton that a simple telling off is unlikely.

"Today we've seen the limits of the slap on the wrist," he said. "Maybe the slap on the wrist is not enough.

"If Lewis has said that it's going to be a slap on the wrist, and that there's going to be no consequence, then he's not aware of what consequences we can implement."

When asked what the team could actually do to rectify the situation, Wolff said: "A lot. But I'm not going to comment on this right now."

Fine? He just signed a $30 Mill a year contract like that would hurt.

Team orders? You will come second for the next N races?

Severe talking to?

Really, what could they possibly do that wont hurt the team worse than the driver?

it means they are trying not to be seen to be taking sides with ze German. Seriously, how upset are Mercedes really with the Greman kid leading the WDC for the German marque with both drivers stil pretty comfortably 1-2... They can't afford too much more of it though.

I reckon team orders along the lines of whoever leads into the first turn stays there. Status quo until the last stint. And no more splitting strategies unless it's due to circumstance beyond their control.

Nico Rosberg, whatta guy hey- Gets a shit start then tries to make ammends by going balls to the wall in an attempt to win the race in the opening lap.

It's not like the championship depended on your retaking P1, you spanker.

You neglect to mention the guy in front get's the first option on pit strategy. Pretty important.

Even more important after Hamilton defied team orders to let his team mate on an alternate tyre strategy past in the previous race. One might even say it was crucial to get in front.

And the opening laps have always been one of the best times to try and make a pass.

And it's not like Lewis needed to push him that wide either, fwiw... he'd already won the corner.

Remember something odd in the pre-race talk from the commentators, or maybe it was during the race

James Allen said something about Lewis has won the race once, although he claims to have won it twice.

WTF? He doesn't even know how many times he has won the race, a bit like his Monaco Master status. The incident asside, Rosberg is being much more professional about everything. But hopefully they will destroy each other and Dan will sweep in and take the championship. Those Red Bull cars were amazing in a straight line this time round, if they have just taken some downforce out of the car, then maybe the Renault engine isn't so bad, they have just been running to much downforce lol.

Ferrari seemed improved, but the car doesn't look real quick in a straight line

yeah i heard that, but im pretty sure it was the one that he got a penalty post race for something and i think it was then kimi that won it

ah no massa won

I am guessing that means no race bonus or 500k every time you are a naughty boy. Post that we will put Sam Bird in your car for Friday practice and we will see how quick you are in the race after a test driver has crashed your car on Friday and you only get 15 laps on Sat morning pre - quali

    • Hi, is the HKS  Tower Bar still available ? negotiable ? 🤔
    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
    • Place the new daughterboard in the case and mount it using the 3 small black rivets provided, and reconnect the 3 factory ribbon cables to the new board Then, use the 3 piggyback cables from the daughterboard into the factory board on top (there are stand offs in the case to keep them apart. and remember to reconnect the antenna and rear cover fan wires. 1 screw to hold the motherboard in place. Before closing the case, make a hole in the sticker covering a hole in the case and run the cable for the android unit into the plug there. The video forgot this step, so did I, so will you probably. Then redo the 4 screws on back, 2 each top and bottom, 3 each side and put the 2 brackets back on.....all ready to go and not that tricky really.
    • Onto the android unit. You need to remove the top screen because there is a daughterboard to put inside the case. Each side vent pops out from clips; start at the bottom and carefully remove upwards (use a trim remover tool to avoid breaking anything). Then the lower screen and controls come out, 4 screws, a couple of clips (including 3 flimsy ones at the top) and 3 plugs on the rear. Then the upper screen, 4 screws and a bunch of plugs and she is out. From there, remove the mounting brackets (2 screws each), 4 screws on the rear, 2 screws top and bottom and 3 screws holding in the small plates on each side. When you remove the back cover (tight fit), watch out for the power cable for the fan, I removed it so I could put the back aside. The mainboard is held in by 1 screw in the middle, 1 aerial at the top and 3 ribbon cables. If you've ever done any laptop stuff the ribbon cables are OK to work with, just pop up the retainer and they slide out. If you are not familiar just grab a 12 year old from an iphone factory, they will know how it works The case should now look like this:
    • Switching the console was tricky. First there were 6 screws to remove, and also the little adapter loom and its screws had to come out. Also don't forget to remove the 2 screws holding the central locking receiver. Then there are 4 clips on either side....these were very tight in this case and needed careful persuading with a long flat screw driver....some force required but not enough to break them...this was probably the fiddliest part of the whole job. In my case I needed both the wiring loom and the central locking receiver module to swap across to the new one. That was it for the console, so "assembly is the reverse of disassembly"
