Police and Channel 7 busted some drag thing in an industrial suburb. over 100 cars involved.

Just got the jist and of whats going on but very large operation mounted on the event.

BIG POINT. didn't see one not one Japanese Import car in the piece doing any burn outs, donuts, not even on the sidelines. 90% of the cars were holdens, saw some Fords and only 1 Rx3 that was very highlighted cause he got arrested for endangering lives when his donuts came too close to spectators.

D**kHead comment of the night with a foooly sik attitude, "Yeah i know this is all dangerous but i'm young man, live hard die hard"

Comments on how bad this makes every performance car club look.

Didn't see the previous motorbike thing that was mentioned in the forums.

thats true about how bad an image like this makes us ALL look bad.

Even if they were holdens and fords, it makes the rest of us look bad simply cos we're young and stereotypically we are all made to act the same.

Bah, holdens and fords... theyre mostly auto*... how much fun can u have in an auto*?

*conditions apply

If cops r going t crack down on us (aust/jap car nuts) then where r we going to do it, ok so they the street drags at the motorplex on wenesday night, but what the guys/girls who like to drift and race around? Seeing that u get busted for useing light industil areas. ;)

Yup it was WA cause they said that the WA police force was undertaking this "sting" and if i'm not wrong, WA cops only have juridiction in WA.

My problem with it is the picture that it painted that ANY young person with a performance car partakes in "hoon" activity.

what they were doing was stupid and dangerous, like the nuts right next to people, but im sure most people with performance cars have more brains than that.

i dont think its fair we all have that image on our heads. most of us do take more care, even when we are stupid :headspin:

Did this story end with a bust where the Guy swapped seats with his (big) girlfriend to try and avoid getting busted?

If so it was on TV here about a month ago (smirks to himself and thinks the rumors about sand-gropers may be correct)

If so check some of the comments made in other state forums.

There was about 3 guys that swapped spots with their (rather large) gfs that looked hell out of place in the seat.

But the RX3 that busted had this large white PROFOMAZ (can't spell) sticker on the back windshield, looks hell familiar around here pretty sure i've seen it here in perth.

For racing i would check PPCC forums and see if you get any ideas there and for drift i would check cars more suited to drift

i hope you aint a snitch trying to help in the next bust....

Indeed they did. No mention that it was VIC. Durty mofo's trying to stirr shit as if it was local.

It was the vic lic plates on the cars and the EPA test that gave it away though.

Oh and an edit ...

Giving that dude that charge of attempting to cause bodily harm is ridiculous. 5 years jail for a burnout WTF !!!

Damn i am giving up burnouts and going to go steal from peoples house's from now on, much lighter penalties ....... as long as i dont use a car to do it.

the media will always show this sort of thing in the worst light and generalise as much as possible ya know make it sound bad enuf an people will watch an then you can do a follow up an a follow up on the follow up and people will tune in to see it s@#$ happens

Damn passing it off as if it was there own gotta be some ethical media law against that because isn't our 6.30pm current affairs programs supposed to deal with our local issues?

Hey how about we go to Current Affair and complain about the story on there and how defaming and biased it is against us. That should go down real well.

    • Yeah it is always worth testing and balancing actuators out of the box, just set the pressure regulator on a compressor very low (eg 5 psi) and increase it slowly to see when they both move.....unfortunately while you may be able to adjust the length of the actuator rod to minimise any difference, the actual pressure they move from is not adjustable so you need a well matched pair. And yes, the VCAM is probably contributing; the earlier in the rev range they come on boost and the slower the revs build (I think your demo was in 5th), the more you notice it.  Driving at WOT through 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc you will probably never hear it as any shuffling starts and is over super quickly
    • oh they were with that motor, you need to remove the engine to change the spark plugs (don't have to, but it does make it easier)
    • I certainly fall into the annoyed camp, but glad to hear that if it's happening at low boost then I'm not likely going to blow a turbo and end up with metal shards in my oil. Just feels like it prevents me from really driving it without hesitation and "peak" performance. Wonder if it's the VCAM, it did an impressive job of shifting the torque curve and faster spool, but maybe now it's "too fast" and there's too much air for how open the throttle is.  Based on some other threads, will also do some reading on synchronizing the actuators. They are the default actuators that come on the Garrett's and I would think they would be set the same coming from the factory, but if the turbos don't actually work exactly the same way at the same time as previously mentioned, it would be worth making sure the actuators are actuating together properly
    • I went down this rabbit hole before, ended up sourcing a motor from the UK (I'm in Japan) which also didn't function correctly. With the original motor, I disassembled it and reassembled it and it works somewhat, sometimes. What I could deduce from all my screwing around is that there is calibration of the gears on the inside of the motor and two ramps on the main gear which activate switches that operate the motor and move the sunroof either to retract into the roof or tilt. Where I got stuck was that, it seemed in my case that one or both of the switches that are activated by the ramp on the gear did not always activate and thus the motor did not move, causing it to sometimes not retract or tilt (apologies, I've forgotten which way it didn't work.).  Of course this part is discontinued at Nissan now, it's the same part in the S15 but no other models. I also contacted the manufacturer of the component for schematics - forgot the name, they're based in Gifu - but they declined to share the information due to being bound by an NDA, sadly. Looking through my pictures now, it seems I last had a crack at this in 2022. See, I so kindly wrote "open" and "close" next to the switches. If you figure it out, please do tell me. Those little switches, with the red buttons may need to be replaced.
